It's COHOES, not Ohio. Cohoes is a town in upstate New York. That may be a NOS blade, the poll appears unblemished. Good find! You need to remove the pitting on the flat side to get the best edge. Now you need to learn how to use it. Thanks!

First mistake@4:25...sharpening with the edge TOWARDS you.

As far as I can tell you never ground all of the pits out of the back side down near the edge. That means that every where the edge intersects a pit there is a nick. When in use, every nick in the blade will leave a ragged line on the wood. Not really a restoration, only a prettying up.

Had one come into the sharpening shop a couple of days ago. Looks like it was found, whilst metal detecting. If this is what they plan to do with it, sending it to me for sharpening should have been the final step.

Make sure when you are using cold bluing soultion that you soak it for 12 hours in oil to give it rust protection.
