As a kid in the 50s, I grew up riding the Broad St line. My dad had a flower shop at the Allegheny Avenue station back then. Yes, I got to ride the big old beasts! Loved your video. Very clear, good edits. (Oh, I live in FL these days...no subways here)

As I've written a few times before: I have been searching for an audio recording (at least) of the BSS leaving a station in the '50's or '60s when the old 1930's vintage livery was still in use. That rumble/hum of the acceleration is ingrained in my memory of a train lover.

Urbanrailer here! To my knowledge, Philadelphia's Broad Street line is the only dedicated four track, local/express set up outside of New York City! Watching the video I could be looking at the A, D, E, F train lines that are four track setups! The 2 & 3 and 4 & 5 lines also have four track local/express service! Beyond New York and Philly, I can't seem to find this kind of service anywhere else in the world of urban transit! Does anyone know of such a service broad? if so, let me know where! Love Philly; had good friends there who brought new dances to NY back in the day!

Doesn't Chicago have a set up like this heading North-South.

Anybody notice that some BIVs have large parts with orange, and some only have a little at the top?
@libertubey21996 жыл бұрын
Alden Weaver All trains now have just the orange stripe at top now, after about 34 years with the orange "mask." It actually makes the train look "younger."
