could not hate this more, because it’s a jukebox musical. the performers are doing their best but the people who wrote it are so lazy. the point of a musical is to tell a story through dialogue song and dance, that means the songs have to reveal something about the characters and move the plot along. if a song can be taken out of context and the story still moves smoothly it shouldn’t be there in the first place. all of these dumb pop songs give no character insight and have no reason to be on a broadway stage.

@@deseuryderia I wouldn't be Charli D'Amelio into this like that. You never know what if this was the goal she's always been a dancer. Why are we so fixated as a society to keep pigeon in a box? as for the jukebox, I'm personally not a fan, but if someone is able to find a way to take an existing song and effectively create a storyline with the song by all means go for it. I just find our community as theater lovers so weird when it comes to situation like this feeling so vexed by every little thing

see, i beg to differ, i had the same thoughts as you going in, but after i watched it, i realised that each of the songs do actually bring the plot forward. based on the songs chosen for the specific characters, you see so much of their personality from the songs used for them. plus the songs fit so incredibly well. i have no idea how they do it, but every time a song came on, my jaw dropped because they all fit so well into yhe plotline. i get what youre saying about the story being able to function without the music, but you have to remember its based off a medium that had no music associated with it, and the music enhances the characters and vibes so much. just food for thought 🤷‍♀️

This is during bows, so it’s not gonna be the same intensity as the rest of the show. They often use simpler choreo, because its main purpose is to keep the energy high while still keeping the focus on those upstage taking their bows.

I can’t believe this is getting hate??? Sure, it was my least favorite number of the musical, but the musical was fine! It did the jukebox genre fine, and the cast was phenomenal when I went! The set and the writing were extremely good! Jesus- people need to chill out. The show has barely been on Broadway for 2 years??? Honestly, so sad people judge the entire show off it’s probably weakest number. Top tier show, top tier performers, hilarious, it’s a must see!
