Since you like to watch hot peppers grow, you should watch The Midwest Gardener. He grows all kinds of peppers, colors and shapes. He also is wanting to harvest his peppers for seeds. It's very interesting to watch.

Thanks Gary, I have something that might help some of your subs. A deer does not see in 3D. that is why planting close to fence works. NC ag dept has come up with what they call 3D fencing. You can look it up on KZbin. I have used it for 3 years. I have 2 acres in the middle of a 5-acre field fenced in. No problems in 3 years, see tracks all around the plot, but none inside. A cheap way to keep them out.

If you're still dealing with those watermelons, try freezing them! We cut them into cubes, freeze in a single layer and bag them up. They're great blended down with some mint and booze of your choice for a fun cocktail or tossed in a smoothie. Makes a really refreshing non-boozy drink with mint and a little added sweetness. Would make a nice taste of summer in the middle of the winter!

Thanks Gary, Helpful tip, if you see a deer inside the fenced in garden , don't try to chase them out. they panic and stampede the garden . I made that mistake. Now I go out there let them see me and usually they calmly exit.

I cut and balled all my melons and froze them on cookie sheets. Once frozen transferred into either freezer bags or plastic 5 gallon used buckets from ice cream. My children just go into freezer and get some for snacks and hubby takes them and puts in blender for juices or just eats also. Never have any after a month or so. They get (fresh frozen) healthy snacks for free.. I tried to make freezer pops but this is just easier and goes just as fast.

Hi Gary, I still have green cherry, Roma and brandywine and the fruits are to size I was waiting around to see if they ripen a bit but next week day temp will be in the sixties no frost yet though. We been in the low seventy all week and rain yesterday. Have a few eggplants and my peppers are still flowering, okra dying off but my giant zinnia and marrigold are still blooming overall one of my best growing seasons. Learnt so much from you. Six frozen 1gal bags of tomatoes for just me and hubby plus we been making sauces and given a lot to family and friends. I will be takin them out in the coming week as I've said everything you do I do okay. Started on my cold weather mostly in your growbags they are not as big as yours but coming along and hey my basil are still surviving. Just wanted to update you on my little garden in New Jersey zone 7😊👍🇯🇲🇺🇲

I have lot of new tomatoes, and ripening tomatoes on my Roma tomato plants. The first frost is coming two weeks early, three days from today (Two days of frost in the forecast.). On the other side of the frost days the forecast is for warm weather, so I am going to cover them and hope for the best. I cleared out my pole beans and cucumber viners, and now my tunnel is bare cattle panel. The pole beans were shading my root crops, turnips, and carrots, so growth has been slow and no rooting. Now that they are getting more sun, I am hoping the roots and tops develop soon. Elsewhere in my garden, they are doing better. Next spring, I will plant more shade tolerant plants in that raised bed,. swiss chard, New Zealand spinich, and Asian greens to start. My pepper plants are going crazy flowering and producing peppers, (planted in raised beds and grow bags). I'm going to let them keep producing as long as they can. Next year, I plan to increase the amount of pepper plants from forty to eighty. I use peppers in everything I cook, so I can't grow too many. I'll be harvesting potatoes this weekend, planting Late Nagasaki Cabbage in their place, and growing them through the winter. My snow peas are produicing pods, and I wii be harvesting from them soon. Deer, and my cat, are a big problem. I use a motion sensor alarm that has a red flashign light, and a loud siren, that over looks the garden. My cat is has become accustomed to the noise, but it still works to keep the deer away. To keep the cat from digging up my raised beds, I cover them with netting until the plants are established, and there isn't room for her to dig. So far, it has been working, and they provide a secondary defense against the deer that have become desenseitized to the alarm. This season, my only deer damage was to my Green Beauty snow peas. It was unrecoverable, and too late in the season to replant, so they have been replaced with a half and half mix of white and purple kohlrbi. (Central Alabama-I'm lower in latitude, so I get more sun at this time of year than the northern states). I just got the proof copies for War of the Lords in the mail today, scheduled release is November 1st, and I'm writing like mad to have Space Pirate Scrooge ready for the editor in the next ten days. So far, I am on schedule. I am hoping for a release around Thanksgiving-no rush, write a 25K word novella in 19 days. Ugh, the things that I do to myself. Writiong, gardeniong, computers, what a mix?
