Ahh, the sounds of the glory days of Australian motor racing. I'm just glad that I was a teenager late 70's early 80's and got to watch this stuff live on telly! Can't be bothered to watch it now, sadly.

I bought a BIG photo back in 84, got it framed, autographed by all four drivers, of the finish. It's my most cherished possession. I had to watch that race on TV in Mackay. 😡 But I did pay to go to a special dinner for Brockys last race in 97 at The Goldfields at top of Conrod. Through his company 'Advantage International' There was about 30/40 of us who'd paid $950 for three nights, all meals, accommodation, exclusive access to the team, dinner with Brock, all that. Best time of my life! Bev, family, all the pit crew, whole shebang. It was FREAKY looking around the table. I stayed there the whole weekend, got to drive around the track, whenever, in my car, etc I got his second last ever autograph of his 'official' career on a HUGE poster later that night around midnight. Some FUCK got in behind me. 🤬🤬 Rarely, for Brocky, he was UTTERLY exhausted looking like he was on the verge of collapse. It'd been a LOOOOONG day for him. Geees I miss him....😥

I told the HDT mechanic in Melbourne-2008 this was the best Holden to win Bathurst - and he replied- 1984 is the car that engine had parts ahead of its time . The rest of the conversation nobody would believe.

@@milli5486 have a look at the 1982 ATCC - one driver caught cheating in 6 rounds and disqualified and would have won the championship - that Scrutineer lost his job at cams . The same driver in 1978 disqualified for using illegal - non homologation parts . 1988 rd 1 ATCC disqualified for non homologation parts to his engine . Sprayed intercooler with fire extinguisher in 1989. Illegal at Bathurst 79 -84 & 87 . So he got caught cheating a lot -all in the history books - but reporters know about these 3 years and put their heads in the sand . Same mechanics 79 & 84 - 87 MW - came over - all set me straight about what really happened.

Was this the car Peter Champion owns? If so then its not the Brock and Perkins #05 Commodore. Its actually the #25 car raced by John Harvey and David Parsons. Unfortunately Champion tries to pass it off as the 1984 Bathurst winner. Brocky's actual car resides at the National Motor Racing Museum at Bathurst.....
@Motorsportsinjapan6 жыл бұрын
Looking at the paint chips on the front, I think this is the actual one although can't say 100% just from this video, would need to see the front better. The easiest giveaway on the real 05 is part of the 'Rocktober' touched up with black marking pen.

you would think they would charge the battery before a show because every old shit 253-308 sounds like this
