The pass miss to Deebo just before your halftime looked like an intentional miss. I think Purdy was protecting Deebo from getting hammered by the safety. When you look at that pass he threw it at his feet and behind him. It was a safe miss and kept Deebo from getting lit up by the safety coming down.

I took some time off from watching football for reasons, but I was never able to fully quit, and then the Niners decided to overachieve, and they started adding all these playmakers, and I eventually got to a point where I realized that cutting out things you enjoy because they're not ethically perfect will only result in my not having things to enjoy, so this season I'm back to watching full time. It's just the best sport. Hands down, it's the most interesting sport, it's the most breathtaking, it's the most viscerally satisfying. It's especially great when your team is doing great, and the Niners are perhaps the best team in the league, and it's awesome. Brock Purdy has created a faith in the deep ball that a lot of Niner fans haven't known in their adult lives, and I say that to point out that I fully understand why people might be defensive of any criticism of Brock's play, or the 49ers offense in general. Because of that greatness, though, nitpicking is the best possible thing for this team to experience. JTO or any other breakdown creator pointing out the flaws and the little things that could be better is invaluable because that's how you avoid getting up your own ass, which is exactly what happened during the three-game skid. There are always things to improve, and it's better to watch for those things than to assume that you're naturally perfect. Keep up the good work!

@christopherwharton6022
@christopherwharton6022 9 ай бұрын
What is integrated athleticism?
@jamesaaron7211
@jamesaaron7211 9 ай бұрын
@@christopherwharton6022 Broadly speaking, you can break athleticism down into 3 types (with lots of overlap). Linear athleticism is like straight line speed, strength, power, vertical, that kind of thing. Think football. Then you have motor skills, which is like refined specific skills that emphasize consistency and control over a lot of repetition, so like baseball (hitting, pitching) or golf. Then there is integrated, meaning coordination, balance, core strength, eye/hand. Think basketball or hockey. Again, all sports use all I’m talking emphasis/commonality. Generally speaking motor skills require the most development, linear athleticism is closer to plug and play (role dependant) and integrated is in between, but I am being VERY broad here.

@@RandomEsports1 Well, except that was the 2nd same-type-of-pick to the Seahawks in as many games vs them - so it did happen again. The thx-gvg one it was behind the receiver who reached out for it. Splitting hairs as Purdy has pretty well avoided interceptions in general so far this season. He's sitting now on 7 interceptions with 4 games left - will hopefully have 9 or less to finish the season.

I once saw a video where it was explained that when a receiver is looking right at you, they'll continue the route, but if they don't make eye contact, they're going to sit down in the zone; there was a mix-up and Aiyuk's post play reaction confirms that.

@4:08 - On the first dangerous incomplete pass to Kittle, I think you're right that the key was the MLB Wagner #54. The way Purdy is staring at Deebo on the little super short sit route, it was probably a decoy trying to get Wagner vacate the middle of the field. Purdy is staring, staring at Deebo, and then the moment Wagner steps towards Deebo, that's when Purdy turns and fires to Kittle at the line. 2 problems arose though.....1) the DB covering Kittle did a tremendous job staying with him and getting a hand in front of the pass; and 2) I don't think Purdy ever expected the far side safety #6 to drop down and get across the field the way he did. The throw was a tad late waiting for the LB to bite, but he still threw it outside the right hashmarks. On the drawing board, they probably expected that lane to be open with the DB on Kittle's back hip. I don't think ANYBODY expected the left side safety to be lowering a boom on Kittle on a pass outside the right hashmarks

First of all JT I want you to know every time I watch your videos I learn something ! Why I never knew this….when the QB flips the ball to a RB or WR it’s a pass. Always thought it was considered a hand off. O well 😂. As for Purdy I’ve noticed as well he tends to choose to throw to ball into tight coverage instead of going for the big bomb. Maybe he’s just not confident yet in making those plays. I’m sure he will develop into making those big throws.

Unlike Cousins, Purdy's chin never drops when he encounters pressure, and his eyes remain down field in most cases.

First play , Purdy uses Deboo as a decoy, looks at him so 54 moves towards Deboo so he is out of the way from the pass towards Kittle.

I know this is a Purdy appreciation video but Deebo is something else, man! I always thought he's ok as a WR but I was wrong. The more I see how they scheme him up and the way Purdy hits him in stride every single time, the more I am just baffled. Those two are a match made in heaven. Deebo's almost unique in that regard. It's almost like he's more dangerous on crossers than on go and post routes. I don't wanna exaggerate but the only other guy I ever saw do those things was Jerry Rice.

That throw behind Deebo, I think was on purpose because of the dlineman that entered his throwing lane. It looks like if Brock threw it where it should have gone, it would have been right to that defender’s face.

In reference to what you're saying about the play at around the 23 minute mark, I think it's more Purdy seeing and understanding the coverage and ultimately throwing it away, than it was a mis-communication. I think he committed before realizing the defender cutting that route off, and made a mid-throw adjustmemt in order to avoid a potential interception.

Purdy is such a crazy Elite player at this stage of his career. I know JT calls out the corner route to Kittle for a deep bomb as a play that Purdy had to make to end the convo about Purdy not being elite. That’s expecting a bit much from JT to call that out on a QB that had only played 18 total games. I know we all get caught up in the fervor of how amazing Purdy is but JT must understand that he’s still just a game off from being a rookie. And the fact that he is a favorite to be the MVP is nothing short of mind blowing

JT, you are correct it should have went to #11 Aiyuk over CMC, but @26:22 it seems like Purdy's throwing lane to where Aiyuk would be was blocked by his O-line #65 & #64... He could have lobbed it over? Sure, but it could have been tipped by #90...

My two cents. It felt like Kyle trying to give Purdy some easy completions on the Hank routes. Seahawks play the Niners tough. Not a lot of room. And the Niners didn't look sharp the whole game. Maybe just tried to keep it simple to keep the ball moving.
