Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip your spine out when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉 Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. It is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt and a burning at the stake. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme. I really enjoy the music, it's rock mixed with EDM. Dreamcatcher are always very creative, and they are in their own genre by this point.

The last chorus, especially the first half of it, is actually different from the first two choruses. There are no guitars compared to the first two, and it's more synth-y, basically a pure EDM drop. And the layering of synth on that part just gives that part a grand finale-like sound, especially when they switched the lyrics from "Please I don't want to scream" to "I just wanna make you scream", showing that they are more powerful now than before.

Nice reaction. Dreamcatcher is my top favorite K-pop group ! When I went to see Dreamcatcher's New York concert 3 years ago, I was amazed at their great vocal and dance skills, and I, my friends and all the audience were enthusiastic about the three-hour performance. It gave me goosebumps and admiration to see them dance and sing brilliantly at the same time. The concert fever still makes my heart flutter. As always, Dreamcatcher is Dreamcatcher. Ayyy! Glad you enjoyed it! Dreamcatcher will definitely be one of the most unique groups you'll see or hear. I'm sure you'll like Boca. I will cheat and give you a heads up that they are actually missing a member in Part 1 and 2. In this video, there is actually a dancer with a mask on that is acting as the missing member's placeholder. Having the mask and everything fit into the theme too, so that's pretty cool. The missing member, Handong, is Chinese and was actually in China participating in Youth With You, the competition show that Lisa was mentoring for. Due to covid lockdowns and postponements, she had to stay in China for a good while. She'll be there in Odd Eye. 😁 The story of part one basically addresses anonymous harassment of individuals and how those hurtful words might affect them. The lyrics and some of the choreo describe a witch hunt for a good chunk of the song. The rest of the song is the victim trying to rationalize wtf is going on and doing their best to keep their shit together through all of it. It's meant to call out this sort of behavior against anyone but definitely with idols in mind. I'm a newer InSomnia, but I've already fallen pretty hard for this group and its members. Just found your channel because this showed up in my recommendations and will definitely be subscribing to see more of your Dreamcatcher reactions! They literally JUST had their five-year anniversary, so there is plenty of amazing content for you to discover with them, and hopefully a new comeback coming soon! They’re an incredibly unique group, from their sound and dark fantasy concept to the sheer amount of talent they possess. Siyeon is one of the best vocalists in the industry and even Dami, the rapper with the amazing low voice, can really hit those high notes. Literally all seven of them are all-arounders, not only in terms of singing/dancing/rapping, but several of them have also participating in writing, composing, and choreographing songs. Not to mention they’re all insanely gorgeous. And speaking of there being seven of them, you might notice on rewatches that there’s a dancer in a mask, and she is actually their choreographer standing in for a missing member. Handong was back home in China participating in a competition show during this era and ended up being stuck there for most of the year because of Covid travel restrictions. So she wasn’t able to be in the next part of the trilogy, Boca, either. But she came back for Odd Eye better and badder than ever!

Hi Brock 👋 Loved your reaction! Haha 😆😆your expression change when you heard the scream and Siyeons vocal breakdown - gold! 👍🤯Also as usual I enjoyed how you analysed the song. Im not upset you decided to do the trilogy in order. To be honest I really struggled with my vote and only went with BOCA in the end, as it is probably the closest sound to other music you've been doing, so I thought that would be the best first impression to get you in. But I'm so glad that your willing to do the whole trilogy. It's hard to describe, but just know that Scream is probably one of their most different in terms of their main sound. All songs in the trilogy sound completely different - but they still fit together really well. As I think some others have explained, in brief the story with the trilogy is about hate speech and bullying (including online through social media) and this is particularly relevant for Kpop idols as sadly there have been kpop idols who have committed suicide due to pressures, criticism and bullying. BOCA means mouth in Spanish and it is said the 3 songs represent hear no evil, speak no evil and see no evil. As I understand it Scream is set in the past, BOCA the present and Odd Eye the future. Im hoping you will share your reactions if you listen to more after the trilogy. I've only discovered them in the last couple of months and am still getting to know them and a lot of their songs, but am loving them. They are all beautiful vocalists and dancers and have excellent rappers. And yes Dami who was rapping has a beautiful singing voice too. Their choreo is amazing and a lot of it is quite complex in comparison to other female groups. Some of their songs I've needed a couple of listens, but then they just click and I'm addicted. I love the ethereal quality to their vocals and the dynamic sound in all their songs, some of them are quite complex melodically. I think they are so underrated, their title tracks are amazing but they have even more if you look past those. I think a lot of people either arent much into rock or they enjoy their title tracks but don't look any further as they assume it's all the same, which is definetly not the case. Sadly as I understand it, compared to other groups they are not that popular in South Korea due to being so different from the norm. They are more popular internationally. Honestly their B sides are excellent and incredibly diverse, they actually do everything and do it so well! As you can see from my song list with genres on your poll, they do quite a few styles and to me whatever they do its still uniquely them and fits with their overall theme/style. For example the B sides from their last mini album which is called Summer Holiday are nice and light and fresh but still Dreamcatcher. I didn't mention Whistle in the list I left you (which is off their last mini album) its such a bop, so addictive and has an excellent beat, I love that one. Oh and I also forgot to say in my comment that Can't Get You Out Of My Mind is an all English song. They provide great content for their fans, I mean they have quiet a few Special Clips which are basic MV type videos for some of their B sides and cover songs (there is a playlist on their channel). The live band that they are performing with in the Special Clip for the song Mayday is made up of different fans (InSomnias) who have apparently covered their songs before, which I think is so cool. I just discovered the song Shadow the other day. This song is sung by 2 of the members only Dami and Siyeon and was recorded for a soundtrack for a Korean drama. There are 2 versions of the song. They are both amazing (There are MVs for both) but the slow version is just perfection. Just piano with clean, strong vocals.👌😌😇 If you want to get to know the members, a nice short video that does that without really spoiling any group songs, is an Unhelpful Guide to Dreamcatcher (2021) by Jiuchuu. The only other song snippets is a very short clip of Good Night, otherwise it's mainly solo songs or cover songs done by the individual members. I've watched pretty much all the current Dreamcatcher guides and unfortunately the rest have a lot of song/MV and performance spoilers. If you don't mind getting a lot of group song/performance spoilers (and I mean a lot) then The Ultimate 2021/2022 Dreamcatcher Guide Welcome to the Dreamworld! By the channel Dreamworld is definetly the most up to date and comprehensive video in my opinion. This one goes for 44 mins. It includes a section where it shows some of their title song MV's. There are timestamps so you can skip that part, but just be aware that the rest of the video has a lot of small performance and MV clips throughout it including some of their cover song performances and dance practices. At the same time this video does have a lot of great non performance clips including from lives, vlogs and TV shows and a lot of extra detail about who the members and group are. - you could always watch this one after more of their MV's and performances if you want to avoid spoiling everything for yourself. Yes, you heard right! Siyeon has one of the best female voices out in this industry. But also the other 6 girls (Gahyeon, Yoohyeon, Handong, JiU, SuA and Dami) have amazing vocals just as Siyeon. Its just that they don't show so much in this song. But seriously you need to check out Deja Vu (the fans favorite masterpiece) and you'll get real angelic vocals. Their vocals are as talented as IU, Wendy, Whee in etc...but unfortunately they don't get the same recognition. By the way DC is the most streamed artist on my Spotify in 2021.

Your face when Siyeon hit those vocals was priceless. (Seriously, you think that was impressive? Oof you're prolly gonna have 5 minutes just on Boca's final chorus.) The Dystopia trilogy is a commentary about social media and cyberbullying using the phrase Hear no evil (Scream, which you just watched), Speak no Evil (Boca, which means mouth in Spanish/Portuguese), and See no Evil (Odd Eye, the 3rd one you couldn't remember the name of) also with the themes of past (medieval witch hunts, referenced with the 'throwing stones' line here), present (Boca), and future (Odd Eye with the cyberpunk visuals). The tree is the Tree of Language that grows black fruits for every hurtful thing that is said and is something that ties the entire trilogy together. Note: This MV and Boca only have 6/7 members - Handong had gone back to China to participate in Youth With You at the beginning of 2020, then... well... Covid happened. She finally got back to South Korea before Odd Eye, so she's in that MV. You'll see in Scream that there's a masked dancer, she's representing Dongie's spot in the choreography since they all thought she'd be back by the middle of the year. The Dystopia dance version of Odd Eye has a nice little surprise at the end.
