For more context, Scream is part of a 3 song series call the Dystopia Series consisting of Scream, Boca and Odd Eye; the series is meant to be a commentary against online hatred, malicious comments, cyber bullying etc. As shown in the beginning, one day people forgot how to say good things.. hence, in Scream, the imagery of an medieval traditional witch hunt (lyrics such as hands bound, stones thrown, burn under the fire etc, and choreography of surrounding someone pointing at a single person) is used to symbolized such online "witch hunt" which take place today where faceless anonymous people (theme of a mask used throughout the series) just post malicious comments and rumors just to hurt people and perhaps watch the world burn.

Welcome to the Dreamworld! I always like to see a fellow metalhead fall for Dreamcatcher. They are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip your spine out when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉 Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. It is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt and a burning at the stake. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme. I really enjoy the music, it's rock mixed with EDM. Dreamcatcher are always very creative, and they are in their own genre by this point.

Insomnia (their fans) are enthusiastic and will write you paragraphs how great each member and everything they've done is, and it's all true, but don't even worry about it because it's ALL of them and everything you watch is going to do * something * amazing. So just watch Boca and Odd Eye (the rest of the trilogy started by Scream), watch BEcause and Deja Vu, and just understand and accept no matter what you watch you'll never expect how it happens but somehow they'll blow you away. Because it's just all of them and that's what they do.

7 members actually, Handong was stuck in China during the first wave but she's now has vocal and choreo parts in all the songs they recorded without her for live performances. They all have very unique but compatible sounds and their stage presence is honestly one of the best as a collective. The members from oldest to youngest are JiU aka Kim Minji (lead vocal, lead dancer, and leader, has a sweet ethereal voice), SuA aka Kim Bora (main dancer, rapper, vocal, very powerful voice but sultry rap), Lee Siyeon (main vocal, rock vocals and high notes but also like 90% of the hidden vocals), Han Dong (vocalist, occasional rapper, really deep full voice), Kim Yoohyeon (lead vocalist, jazzy american pop vocals, does the vocal runs and the rest of the hidden vocals), Dami aka Lee Yubin (main rapper, lead dancer, vocalist, composer, deep grungy rap and sweet delicate singing), Lee Gahyeon (lead rapper, vocalist, sassy rap, very sharp but strong vocals). Dreamcatcher actually will be performing in the first week at Primavera sound festival in Barcelona on the 4th of June. They're also preparing for a comeback and possibly Queendom. You might also like Girls by Nature, Drunk-Dazed by Enhyphen and in case you haven't checked out G-Idle yet, their songs Lion and Oh My God are pretty cinematic and grand.

@@GOTGames And I have to add a little tiny thing in here. When Handong went on that show, that was Season 2 which was when Lalisa from BLACKPINK was one of the mentors and judges (Dance Mentor for the girls). Lisa and Handong had met on stage before when both DC and BP were at some show somewhere but they were not really allowed to talk about it. Lisa might not have known that she wasn't supposed to say anything, so when she recognized Handong she asked if they had met before. It was awkward because Handong was not supposed to say yes. She did say something though, to let Lisa know that yes, they had met. They basically had to stay away from each other the entire time of filming (which I thought was sad). That entire situation really sucked for Handong. She basically had to do a lot of stuff for herself during that time (almost a year away from DC!) that she never had to do before because she had been in a group. BUT when Dongie came back to Korea she had much more self-confidence! She really grew from the experience. :)

@@zarag1621 It wasn't really the K-Pop rules though. Lisa is from YGEntertainment, yes, and Handong is from HappyFace/ DreamCatcher Company but that didn't matter since they were both in China. The show itself did not want their 'past relationship' affecting anything because of Lisa's position above Handong for that show. You can't even call it any sort of relationship; they met ONCE and I think they may have come close enough to shake hands or something and that was IT. As for why they were not even supposed to acknowledge their previous meeting, I have NO CLUE. It just made things awkward and Handong didn't last nearly long enough on the show. I was SURPRISED as all get-out to find out that Handong wasn't anywhere near the quarterfinals. She was out almost right away. Pretty sure all of those shows are RIGGED, especially against DreamCatcher, it seems. lol

i’m so, so happy you checked out dreamcatcher! for me, they’re one of the most talented girlgroups out there. i’ve listened to a lot of korean groups and there’s just something about dreamcatcher that pulls me in. i’ve been following your journey since your first reaction to bts (which is actually my favorite group), and now you reacted to my favorite girls dreamcatcher and it made me really happy! since you reacted to ‘Scream’ i recommend listening to ‘Boca’ and then ‘Odd Eye’, the three of them are a trilogy! but if you want a more rock sound i’d recommend an older song ‘Good Night’. also! they’re actually 7 and not 6! one of the members (Handong) got stuck in china when covid first hit! so they promoted ‘Scream’ and ‘Boca’ without her, but now she’s already included in the perfomances when they do perform. they actually toured world wide and even came to brazil! Im glad you listened to my recommendation man. And then again, Scream is very upbeat yes but isnt as rock/metal as some other of their tracks. Im telling you man you will love these girls. Funny enough most of their b-sides are in complete different genres ( edm/RnB/Jazz/etc). They also have many selfmade MVs ( special clips) to some amazing songs and the MVs they made are hilarious. Don't worry, this is a perfectly fine reaction :D reminds me of the absolute chills when first discovering Dreamcatcher over a year ago - really took me back to rock/metal roots. That was over a year ago and now they're my absolute top/ultimate kpop group! Plus - all the genres that you mentioned near the end - Dreamcatcher have done a LOT of them. If you have a sword bias - check out Deja Vu after finishing the Dystopia trilogy. As for tours - they have visited many countries worldwide and have some more tours in Europe coming up this year.

I've been a metalhead for decades, but never been afraid to check out different genres. BTS and Blackpink initially and accidentally got me into K-pop, after I'd been rejecting it for years, thinking it was all cutesy and generic. They proved me wrong and I've checked out A LOT since, and found a surprising amount of gems. Dreamcatcher are my undisputed favorites. I've been stuck deep in the rabbit hole for months now. Never ever imagined I'd be this much of a fan of a K-pop group, but I love Dreamcatcher so so much. Seeing other people discover and enjoying them never gets old. Scream is the first of a trilogy. Boca is the second one. Odd eye the the third. Finishing the trilogy might be a good place to start. I randomly started with Boca, Deja Vu and BEcause, which are all great. At this point my favorites are deep into their B-sides, but I don't think that's where to begin.

Dreamcatcher are 7 members in fact. But one of them (Handong) is Chinese, and she was not able to travel back to Korea during nearly one year because of the restrictions. If you look again, you can see one masked dancer keeping her spot in the choreography. Thanks for reacting to Dreamcatcher. They are some kind of underdog group in Kpop and deserve more recognition. welcome to the dreamworld where every song is a new and unique experience \:D/ obviously who you like is personal preference, but objectively dreamcatcher has the most diverse discography I have ever heard, from soft ballads to songs on the edge of metal. but the most interesting part is they combine all genres from all time periods in ways you don't expect so many of their songs you will not hear anywhere else. scream is part 1 of their dystopia trilogy which is a criticism of social media. part 2 is boca and part 3 is odd eye. scream is a bit more on the edm side and the dystopia trilogy is a bit more electronic than their other title tracks. I guess you should check out the next in the series, boca, but know they have songs with a lot more rock/metal instrumentation if that's more your cut of tea.

Dreamcatcher as a girl group has some of the best choreography. The only thing that sucks is that DC are storytellers. Which means their MVs always have a story and the story takes up most of the video. So if you wanna see their choreo then you need to check out their live stages or their dance performance videos to really see the choreo. Be that as it may their storytelling is probably the best in the industry. Their vocals are some of the best and most underrated in the industry. All members sing. All members can rap in some form and all can dance. They all have amazing visuals and all of them are powerhouses. They are the most underrated group in the industry but one of the most beloved by other kpop groups. They started their own trend despite opposition by the industry and have grown to be their own genre. You can not go wrong by going down this rabbit hole. It will draw you in and leave you wanting for more for sure. They are rock in the title but versatile in the b-sides. They have something for everyone. Thanks for checking out our girls!

Talking about seeing them live - i know someone already told you about their primavera stage, so i am here to add to that: it was announced a few days ago that they'll be coming to Germany in may for a kpop festival: kpopflex, along with some other groups that you should definitely check out!! (on their particular day, sunday, they'll perform alongside G-Idle (saw someone already recommended them to you, they'll have a new song and album out in march!), Mamamoo (legendary group with heavenly vocals, recommend some of their classics like HIP and Egotistic), Ive (only have one song out atm but it already broke records in SKorea), Oneus, Monsta X and AB6IX (personally not as well informed about these 3 groups sorry but definitely also have good songs!!) ) Since this festival is only 3 weeks before their primavera stage, many fans are expecting them to add dates for a europe tour in those 3 weeks, as it would not make sense to fly back home with the 2 weeks quarantine they would have to do after coming back. They have done 2 Europe tours before so it's very likely that they'll do another one, and who knows maybe if they do you'll have some time to catch up on some of their music and see them live!! They're incredible performers, it would be worth it!!

I've seen Dreamcatcher twice in the UK (2018 and 2019) and Blackpink once in the UK (2019). Every time I saw them, the concerts were in London. So hopefully, once touring is made easier again, these groups will be returning to the UK.

Thanks for checking out Dreamcatcher! Shouts out for trying out new things! Truth be told, your BlackPink video popped up on my home feed and I was on my way to shamelessly plug Dreamcatcher. Things worked out better than expected. 😂 Dreamcatcher is definitely one of the most unique experiences you are going to have in K-pop. Surprisingly, they are still aren't as popular in Korea as you'd think after seeing their talents. They have a huge international following though. For the longest time, Dreamcatcher was one of the most underrated and slept on groups in K-pop, but they've had a steady growth over the years with small spikes after some albums. Because they aren't at the level you'd expect, their fanbase, InSomnia, wants nothing more than to see them succeed. So, InSomnia might be a bit passionate at times. The girls are amazing and seeing others experience that is the best feeling in the world. Something fun to mention, Dreamcatcher is from a average-sized company so they have less of a budget for things. For comparison, the other girl group you've heard, BlackPink, is from one of the three biggest entertainment companies in K-pop, and yet, I believe Dreamcatcher performs at the same levels as other groups with way more resources. Once you see some live performances, you'll hopefully agree. It's damn impressive. Speaking of BlackPink, here's an interesting fact: Handong, the missing Chinese member that everyone has mentioned, was actually participating in a competitive idol reality show in China called "Youth With You". Lisa from BlackPink was actually a mentor on that show. Fun times. As I'm sure others have said, this is the lightest amount of rock influence in the trilogy and the trilogy as a whole is on the lower end of rock influence for their title tracks. If you continue on with a Dreamcatcher journey, you'll find out. 😁 What makes things more fun is that the dark rock concept only applies to their title tracks so their B-sides are all over the fucking place in regards to genres and sounds. Versatility is delightful from any group. Also, I definitely suggest you watch a color coded lyric video or re-watch the MV with the standard English subtitles on. The UK English subs are definitely not as good in this particular video. For the most part, having the captions on standard English won't do you wrong for Dreamcatcher songs. They really are a special group that deserves all the love and attention in the world. Excited for your journey into K-pop and particularly into Dreamcatcher! You're in for a wild ride. Just so you know, Dreamcatcher is actually a 7 member group. In this video and second MV of the trilogy "Boca", Handong who is a Chinese member was away In China participating in a Idol competition show and then also got stuck in China because of the Covid outbreak. So she wasn't able to participate in those two songs But she returned in The MV Odd Eye which is the 3rd song of this trilogy series. PS. STAN DREAMCATCHER

You are super-entertaining, not boring at all, even the no-comment jaw-drop moments are totally fun! So don't worry about it :) So glad you checked out Dreamcatcher. Everyone should know about Dreamcatcher :D They did tour, but then Miss Rona showed up. However, they are regularly doing online concerts at MyMusicTaste. The last one had some technical issues, and obviously the atmosphere is not comparable to when they have a live audience, but still. Scream is one of their most popular MVs, but also one of the least rocky ones, leaning much more to EDM. Since rock is not popular in Korea, they moved most of their harder sound to Japanese MVs. So you have several paths forward: * Continue with the Dystopia trilogy (starting with Scream, continuing with Boca and Odd Eye, both being a bit more rocky than Scream), continuing the anti-bullying campaign started in Scream * Start from the start with their Nightmare cycle (some six or seven songs, starting with Chase Me, their debut song, which sounds a lot like anime rock) * Check out one of the prettiest MVs I have ever seen (Deja Vu, which is standalone, and seems to be a ballad, until...) * Take a look at one of the said Japanese releases for a full-on metal (e.g. Endless Night) * Check out the B-sides, which go over a variety of genres, pretty much everything except cutesy (Jazz Bar, or And Then There Was No One Left, for example) * See one of their self-made MVs (like Sahara, filmed on a phone while they are being bored waiting backstage on music shows, the opposite of "big budget") * See individual members' covers of other artists, which can blow you away by themselves (like Siyeon's Speechless by Disney, or SuA's Copycat by Billie Eilish) * Check out concerts/lives/etc, especially if there is a live band involved. One standout is Mayday, where they invited their fans who play instruments to be their live band

Had to pause at 7:44 and comment. What you're describing about how Kpop uses different individual voices to make a great sound is what I personally call "The Bibimbap Effect". Bibimbap is one of Korea's most famous foods: they take a bunch of different ingredients (egg, spinach, beef, cucumber) and season/prepare each one separately before putting them over a bowl of rice with a spicy sauce that unifies the whole thing. You get an explosion of different flavors that harmonize beautifully in your mouth. It's the same with the music: you get vocals and raps that all have a distinct sound that all intermingle on the track. It's great! Pixy is the name of the group, I would recommend you watch Bewitched to start, I think you will have the same reaction that you had here, and pretty much every DC fan that has listened to Pixy has also loved them.

The key element that makes these Kpop groups different is the training they undergo. I can't speak for Dreamcatcher, but of the Blackpink members, one spent 4 years training, 2 other members spent 5 years in training, and the last member spent 6 years in training. Only 1 day off every 2 weeks, being judged by staff from the label in multiple performances every month. There are Kpop Idols who may spend 10 years training and never get to debut to the public. That is why everything about their music, whether vocals or rapping, and their choreo, and the attitudes they project while performing all seem so perfect and effortless.

Dreamcatcher are the light in the dark. There are 7 members, but one of them, Handong, missed this era because he was in China on a reality show where Blackpink's Lisa was a mentor. They are so underrated, they really are 7 super talented girls, to level to the big ones or more, but they don't have a big company like BP, or the lucky to BTS because they make songs with ritms not so popular in korea. Definitely do Boca next then odd eye so you can watch the trilogy of songs. I recommend checking out Band-Maid, they are an all Japanese female rock/metal band. To me they are the best rock group out there right now. Check out the manners/ Black Hole official live video first since it's 2 songs in one video. I actually discovered Dreamcatcher because of watching reactors who also did Band-Maid.

omg i'm so glad you checked out my recommendation! Today I will recommend a japanese artist, he's called MIYAVI and he does JROCK and JPOP. He isn't that famous but I bet you have seen him in some Hollywood and Disney movies! He's 40 years old if i'm not wrong, a beautiful family and his apearance with his body full of amazing tattoos, is soo dope. He is also called a "sex symbol" in Japan and also the best guitarrist of this country. Mostly of his songs doesn't have mysic video bc they are bsides or just don't have that good production like KPOP has. I recommend these songs: Hush Hush, OTHER SIDE, NO SLEEP TILL TOKYO, I'm So, Dancing With My Fingers, Flashback, No Thanks Ya, Heaven is A Place On Earth, WHAT'S MY NAME?, Need for Speed,... My fave song is STARS, underrated and sooo EPICCC. Even if you don't make a video reaction I plenty think you would like his music a lot as I do! Have a good day!
