@@airgunextra ,I have a question for you sir if I may.I saw you had reviewed the rapier rangefinder.My question is this: when I enter the info on the ballistic app it asks at what magnification my second focal plane scope is at true mildot.Well,in my case the answer is 20Xmagnification.So,then,I must take all my shots on only 20 magnification to get the correct holdover/holdunders then certainly,is that correct do you know?

Richard, I just wanted to thank you for all your help and patience. I have used a lot of information form your channel to help me research air rifles. I contacted a dealer in Northern Ireland and he came back to me a respectable price for a .22, FAC, 400ml bottle, Commander. Unfortunately, we usually have to always pay a little more than the mainland to cover carriage to NI. My gun dealer was also trying to sell me an Element Optics Helix 1c scope. My only concern is that I think it is a 6-24x50 scope and this could narrow my field of vision for hunting. It is a 30mm tube and this should allow more light in. Again, your video on budget scopes was very educational and of great help. the dealer said that this scope packed in a lot of features in for the price. Richard, as my new guru have you had any experience with Element Optics, and if so, how would you rate them? Also, as the owner of a commander, would you go for med. or high mounts to clear the magazine on the gun. This has been a long journey to find out as much as as possible about the Brocock, PCPs and scopes, your help has been invaluable. You are a true gentleman sir, and a credit to your sport. Do you have a PO BOX, postal address that you could please message me. I would like to send you something all the way from Northern Ireland to thank you for all your help. God bless, Oscar

Hi Oscar. I'm really glad you managed to get fixed up with a rifle. I'm sure you'll be pleased with it. And thanks for the kind offer to send me something, but its really not necessary. I'm just pleased that I and the channel could be of some help. In fact, we are just about to start selling some products from our alphamilitaria.com website - we are building the store site now and will be selling Elements Optics scopes. We're just waiting on some stock alphamilitaria.com/. The Helix 6-24x50 is a great scope. I use one on my FAC Impact mk 2. I wouldn't worry about field of view because at low mag its plenty good enough. The light transmission is brilliant too. If you have the budget, the first focal plane version is worth the money, especially if you are going to be pushing the range with your FAC rifle. In terms of mounts, I always use Sportsmatch because they are guaranteed for life. Their website is really good. I'd probably go for a set of these: www.sportsmatch-uk.com/30mm-diameter-body-tube-high-range-for-9-5mm-11-5mm-dovetails-up-to-56mm-lens-diameter-includes-easyfit-arrestor-pin. Take care Oscar...

Nice presentation Richard. Torn between the Commander Magnum .22 and the new Ghost HP .22. Ghost more expensive, and seems more versatile with more settings available. I wont be adjusting settings too much, and will be primarily using it for hide and pest control hunting. Both are competant rifles, which to go for?
@airgunextra
@airgunextra Жыл бұрын
Hi Roger. You're right, both are great rifles. The Ghost has the advantage of being more compact than the Commander, especially the Magnum. I'd probably go for one over the Commander if I'm honest, but it's a close call. I've been shooting the .30 cal 100 ft lbs rifle and it's truly something else. Hopefully I'll be posting a video on it soon. Thanks for watching.

Hi Justin. Thanks very much. The Air Arms is a great rifle but personally speaking it would be the Wolverine R. In fact I have a couple - one a 12 ft lbs .177 with a laminate stock and the other a 30 ft lbs FAC in .22. In fact, I used the FAC in the current episode of The Airgun Show kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIXElKGKebaIq5I and the .177 in an earlier episode kzbin.info/www/bejne/iaC7q3SZgZt3nc0

Hi Richard, Im very much a newbie to the air gunning world and love watching your videos. They very insightful and informative. Im looking to get my 1st air gun ( non FAC) and been trying decide between the Brocock Commander XR vs RT Presit MK2. I intend to use it for both target practice and a occasional pest control (rabbit, squirrels, etc..) So was wondering, in your opinion which one you would go for? And why. Thanks
@airgunextra
@airgunextra 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. And thanks for the kind words. The truth is both are excellent rifles and will put pellets on top of each other at 30/40 metres for as long as you are prepared to pull the trigger. It largely comes down to the rifle you really want. I'd probably go for the Brocock because the sidelever is better than the straight pull bolt on the Priest and the stock is more adjustable. However, that's not to say the Priest isn't a great gun too. There's no right/wrong decision, just one of personal choice. Thanks for watching.

@@KhanAhmed That would be the best bet. Good luck! I don't want to confuse things further, but the RTI Prophet is similar to the Priest but has a side lever action. That said, the side lever is on the left and when I reviewed one for Airgun Shooter magazine, I found it a little stiff. I also closes on a clip. Still very accurate and a pleasure to shoot though. Good luck!

Richard l have been guled to your channel. I am in the market for a brocock. I had settled on a XR sniper (Formally the Bantam). Have you ever shot one of these rifles? I shot my friends bullpup FX today, which was piece of art, but I am 6 feet tall and a big guy. I found his bullpup very short in my shoulder. To get a sight picture my head was actually off the rear of the butt. In your opinion do you think that a Sniper xr would fit my body type, or would I be better off with the adjustable stock of the Commander? After doing research, I have found out that these guns are basically the same inside and it is more a matter of style choice between the guns. Also like found out that the Sniper comes in a shorter 'Mini' verson. Do you think the shorter rifle would affect accuracy and power and would this trade off be worth it for hunting? To give you some feedback he told me today that watched your video that reviewed 3 budget scopes. This man used to be my teacher at school and has been shooting for years. My friend told me that he wished he had saw your channel years ago because you would have saved him a lot of money.
@airgunextra
@airgunextra 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Oscar. Thanks very much for the encouraging feedback. It really does spur us on.. The Bantam is a great rifle, and the sidelever XR Sniper version is much better in my opinion. It is a semi-bullpup design though so you may find that an issue given your size. The Commander is a more traditional layout, albeit in a tactical format. If you possibly can, try and put both in your shoulder. One will leap out as better suited for you than the other. The mechanicals are identical, so it really is just a case of which one fits you best. The Sniper XR Mini will still deliver 12 ft. lbs. and is plenty accurate. It will be handier in confined spaces like a hide or vehicle, or around farm buildings, but performance will be on a par with the longer barrelled version. Good luck in your search. As I said, the only way to be really sure is to pick them up and have a go. I don't know where you live, but if you are anywhere near Reading in Berkshire you'd be welcome to try mine out.

@@airgunextra Richard , you are a true gentleman. I have to say that you are a credit to the sport. Unfortunaly, I live in Northern Ireland. I say unfortunaly for a number of reasons LOL, but for the purpose of this exchange, I am too far away to accept your kind offer. Futhermore, there is only one Brocock dealer in NI. His shop is about 100 milles from where I live. I was talking to him on the phone and he was very helpful, but he only has one commander HR in stock. We are also still in lockdown in NI, although this is particularly lifting this Fri. Gun shops should be allowed to open. As you know, the XR verson has sorted out the side lever, trigger, has as incorporating a Walther barrel and Brocock have even claimed to have modified the mag. to stop it shaving some brands of pellets. I agree that the new improved Daystate, XR is the only way to go. I will have to bring in a rifle from the mainland through a reg. dealer in NI. This is causing me a little difficulty because all air rifes in NI must be put on a FAC. Some dealers in the UK do not seem to want to deal with FAC paperwork. As I need a FAC anyway I was going to go for a .22, 30 or 40 pound gun. I hope the extra power would give me more reach and ensure a clean kill. I think all I can do is go for the Commander, because I cannot risk the stock being too short. My father was nearly 6' 4" and his uncle was 7' tall. My dad had to have AYA measure him for a custom stock on his shotgun. I am a runt in our family at 6'. Our family was like living with the cast of Vikings. They all were very naturally big, strong men with red hair. Contrary to believe, it's no fun being too tall because it even makes buying a car difficult, let alone a rifle. Thanks once again for taking the time to answer my question. I was watching you tonight on the Air gun channel making speedy work of some rats after a flood; great shooting! Please keep doing what you are doing. There is a lot of pressure to end the sport from people who know nothing about it, or even the countryside. If you are ever in Northern Ireland let me know. I own a black powder, P53 Three Band, Enfield musket. You are very welcome to give it a try if you want to exchange air pressure for a hand held cannon. There is about 3' of flames that come out of the muzzle when it is fired and it's lots of fun, but very loud. God bless, Oscar
@airgunextra
@airgunextra 3 жыл бұрын
@@Oscarhobbit Wow - that would take care of a few rats Oscar! Mind you, I think the sight of a 6' Viking would probably do the trick too! The Commander XR in FAC or Magnum is a great rifle. In fact we have an episode of The Airgun Show coming up soon in which I use mine. Thanks for your support of the channel and I'll be sure to let you know if I'm ever in your neck of the woods.
