nobody does it like Fred, the ultimate storyteller. I owned a liquor store in a college town. Fred , Willie P. and I would drink good tequila before the show and discuss our backgrounds in farming... the guy is so authentic it's unavoidable.

I was at this show, and at 15 of Fred’s “Pic-nics”. This was his best band! The Flying Squirrels - just about the best roots bands on the planet! Miss you, Willie! Peace

This song is so awesome. It hits me hard, I feel it. We need to be thankful for our truckers... everything we see, came here on a truck. They have it hard and it's harder every day. New laws and regulations, digital logbooks not to mention the cost of fuel.... it's hard enough. The women who choose a trucker to love ain't got it easy either but all I can ask is that they stand by their men.

Fred deserves more views. Ontario legend. Country legend. And a genuinely decent dude. Met him and Tiff at a small show in Southwest Ontario and the whole family are gems. Unbelievable talent and showmanship.

+spencer doran His best line up in my opinion was when Willie P Bennett (mandolin), Dan Walsh (lap steel, electric guitar) Darcy Yates (upright bass), Roger Marin (pedal steel, electric guitar)

I had bought a chitliade of a Bootleg DVD from his picknic Fundraiser near Cobalt Ont. I handed all those DVD'S out thinking it was the best thing I had ever seen. All those wannabe's have since said when I ask tell me they never listened and they don't know where they are so they could give them back. Fred knows who shows up and who is audience is.

Darlin', I'm a'comin' down Route number sixty-seven I just got off the turnpike Avoiding the Ohio State inspection Johnny Law followed me up the road Then he turned off and he let me go I guess this old truck ain't worth shuttin' down Your voice last night on the telephone Said you wouldn't be there when I got home So when I get to Cleveland I'm gonna head back south The light keeps comin' on I got water in the fuel My brakes are gone I got a left front tire throwin' thread By tomorrow morning I could be dead Baby, maybe, you've been right all along You said you couldn't stay With a man who was always gone away All you wanted to do was to settle down You wanted to buy that little trailer Out on the edge with the money you'd saved It had a carport, a colour TV And no place to turn around The light keeps comin' on I got water in the fuel My brakes are gone I got a left front tire throwin' thread By tomorrow morning I could be dead Baby, maybe, you've been right all along Remember that winter when the lake froze over We drove out there after we'd unloaded We revved that truck and we spun it 'round and 'round Then we left it idlin' out on that ice Crawled in the sleeper and I held you tight Baby, I'm sure on thin ice now The light keeps comin' on I got water in the fuel My brakes are gone I got on left front tire throwin' thread By tomorrow morning I could be dead Baby, maybe, you've been right all along Baby, maybe, you've been right all along
