Few notes that brodie forgot to mention: 1. The sharks won the first overall pick's 4 digit lottery code 3 times in a row, because the league continued to try to get a code of a different team for the second overall pick, only after the 4th try they finally got another team which was Chicago. If this is not fate i don't know what else it is, the hockey gods were literally screaming, "Celebrini you going to San Jose". 2. This was the first Lottery draft since 2010 in which no team has moved up or down from their pre-draft positions per standings. 3. Macklin Celebrini isn't projected to be a player of the caliber such as McDavid or Bedard, but make no mistake, people expecting him to be the type of player that makes the same impact of players such as Matthews and Mckinnon. With no disrespect to the previous picks, but this kid is one of those golden horses you get that you build your franchise around him. 4. Sharks fans better know, Macklin has a nickname Cheetah, after his move to the bay area the Golden warriors decided to change it and call him Chester, Like Chester Cheetah, the mascot of Cheetos. They explained they call him like that because of his filthy hands is like what you get after you eat a bowl of Cheetos. 5. Rick Celebrini (his father) was interviewed today by the Golden warriors media following San Jose winning the draft lottery, you can find that newest video on the Golden state warriors' youtube channel, go check it out. *** To summarize it i'll use Elliotte friedman's words, "The sharks were half pregnant, they are now fully pregnant." That's how much difference drafting this kid does to your rebuilding and prospect pool. The the light in the tunnel seem way more closer now. Enjoy the celebration everyone, we deserve it after so much suffering.

@@mr.brenman2132 his father is the warriors' vice president of Player Health and Performance. He and his family moved to bay after he got the job which is why Macklin has roots in San Jose and played for the JR. Sharks. They were hoping SJ will win the draft so he can live close to the family.

The best part is that the Sharks were able to land Will Smith at #4 and in any other draft year he likely would’ve been the #1 guy. So we can consider the Sharks landing two #1’s . Nice summary Brodie. I don’t think the work is done for SJ, there is another season of max pain. And the consolation prize for another bottom three finish is looking real nice, James Hagens leads that pack. If Celebrini and Smith decide to arrive next season it will certainly add some juice to ticket sales but I can’t imagine those two giving the Sharks anything more than a 10 win boost. After losing 52 games, losing 42 will put them nearly in the bottom 5. Looking forward to the 2025 off-season there are some notable potential free agents that I would like to see Grier take a stab at. At this point he’s going to need two top 6 wingers, two top 4 defensemen and a capable goalie. And free agency is the quickest way to plug holes without giving up assets. My hope is team teal becomes a bubble playoff team in ‘25-‘26 season, time will tell but it’s now finally fun to be a Sharks fan.

A couple thoughts: first, I wouldn't hate seeing the Sharks package 14/42 to move up to 7-9. Either for one of the defenseman that should go early, Eiserman, or Iginla. Adding another top tier guy in that range (not that who ever is available at 14 would be a scrub) would be a huge boost in adding even more depth to what is looking like a decent group of youngsters. I also keep thinking about how Logan had Clowe in his pocket that whole rookie season to help protect him on the ice. I think that Macklin and/or Will Smith would benefit from the addition of a big power forward to help ensure that if someone takes a run at either of them - they'll have to answer for those actions. Assuming they play in the NHL next year - there is always a big possibility they go back to college for another year, which wouldn't be the worst thing ever for the Sharks.

The best part about this draft lottery is that we didn't actually "win" it lmao. The draft order stayed the same so we can draft 1st overall in 2025 and 2026 regardless of how the picks become 1OA. This one doesn't count towards the new twice in five years rule.
@DrFeelinIt7 ай бұрын
The sharks did win it
@teknicalmadeit7 ай бұрын
@@DrFeelinIt Yeah I worded it wrong. They "won" it but their position stayed the same. They didn't move up to get the pick so it doesn't count towards two lottery wins in 5 years. That only applies to teams who move up. Chicago moved up from 3rd to 1st last year so they only get to move up once more in the next 3 seasons after this one.
@DrFeelinIt7 ай бұрын
@@teknicalmadeit sadly it does. Winning team can move up to 10 spots, or they can not move at all. If the penguins won the lottery the pick would go from 14 to 4. In that situation the sharks didn't win the lottery, but still got first. What happened was the sharks won the draft lottery. When they did the balls, the 4 number combination was one of the sharks lotto tickets. So they won, but they don't move. If that makes sense.
@teknicalmadeit7 ай бұрын
@@DrFeelinIt You're not understanding what I'm saying. I'm saying the Sharks pick didn't move. It stayed the same. They we're picking 1st overall before the lottery and after the lottery. It stayed the same. You can't move up more than twice in a 5 year span so because they didn't move up, they can win the lottery in 2025 and 2026 if they move up or stay in their position if they finish last.
@DrFeelinIt7 ай бұрын
@@teknicalmadeit I do know what you're saying, but if that's what you're saying then you're misunderstanding the rule. The rule isn't a team can only move up 2 times in 5 years. The rule is you can only win the lottery 2 times in 5 years. Moving up has nothing to do with the 2 wins in 5 years.
