I don’t mind local corps that are a major part of the city buying naming rights. I just wish they’d renew them more often. They almost always lose the bidding war after the initial 20 year deal. They should get first right of refusal

Organizations are so quick to want to build new ballparks to out-do each other, rather than performing needed upgrades and adding to the mystique of their current stadiums.

Glad to see someone giving the Mariners' stadium the respect it deserves. It's such a cool, unique, well-kept, fantastic place to watch a game... And well-located too. The fact that it's still open-air even with the roof closed is awesome, and they've done an amazing job keeping it updated. Hard to believe it's almost 25 years old already. Plenty of great food options as well.

The Rogers Centre/SkyDome is no longer multipurpose. The Argos stopped playing there in 2016, and the Raptors played there from 95-99 waiting for the ACC to be built. They upgraded the outfield for last year and from tv it looks great. They changed the wall heights, raised the bullpens, added more social areas. It is still turf which is a downside, but hopefully the renovations this offseason help it last a long time. It should be in the routine tier, but at the bottom of it.

When I went in to the renovated park in 2023, it felt better, still not great but I've been to more than a few parks and it had a kinda mid-tier feel to it. Still needs to be replaced but its serviceable for the next 10. But they need to build it so the team doesn't need a temporary home, that kind of thing kills a fanbase.

Petco is beautiful and tucked into downtown nicely. Pretty easy access from multiple directions. Gaslamp and East Village neighborhoods nextdoor. Good food options and it's heaven if you're into craft beer. The primary individual that got it done, Larry Luchino, also got Camden Yards and the update to Fenway Park accomplished.

The renovations at Rogers Center were so well done last year. This year, the entire 100 level is being gutted and replaced to give better sight lines. 300 Million total private money, but we the fans, are paying for it huge. Massive increase in season ticket prices. I had the pleasure to visit T-Mobile in Seattle last year and that place is amazing. Hope to one day get to Pittsburgh or St. Louis. Cool video.

There are plans to greatly upgrade the area around Citi Field over the next decade. MLS's NYCFC want to build a 25K seat stadium next door along with a new residential area. The Met's owner wants to build a park and entertainment area with multiple venues next to Citi Field as well. The Subway station for the area is going to get rebuild which is a huge deal. If everything comes true, Citi Field is going to move up to a Forever ballpark in the 2030's.

For what it's worth at the OLD Ballpark in Arlington, opened 1994. The Rangers won their first Division Championship in 1996, and as they got better, leading up to their 2 World Series appearances in 2010-2011. Problem was, as the Rangers team got better, the Rangers were in demand, and told by Major League Baseball and the Networks, that they would be playing in June-July-August, at 2pm.........One game I remember on TV, playing the Devil Rays, the on field thermometer was placed on the field, and the temp was 105! When George W. Bush and his partners built The Ballpark, WITHOUT a roof, it was agreed by MLB and intended by the Rangers owners, to ONLY stage day games during April, May and September. Otherwise, ONLY NIGHT GAMES--otherwise, a blast furnace. But the Rangers' success leading up to the 2010 and 2011 seasons dictated they play on TV on Saturday, during the Summer, at 2pm. Lastly, by the time Nolan Ryan had bought the team, there was LOTS of pressure to put a roof on this gorgeous throwback Ballpark. They did all sorts of feasibility studies, and others, and it would have cost MORE to put a roof on that it was to build the thing. Plus, structurally, it was not made to support the immense weight a roof would cost. One more note: When The Ballpark in Arlington opened in 1994, it was right before the fiber optic/cellphone/wi-fi boom, which meant the 1994 opening found the Ballpark almost antiquated, being sportswriters, broadasters, wi-fi, computer usage, high tech scoreboard capabilities, etc.....well, The Ballpark missed all of this, so it was already behind the 8-ball technologically, as fans wanted network connectivity, and all the rest, so even though it was an awesome venue, success forced their hand to have to build a new venue.
@ZacharyWhite25
@ZacharyWhite25 Жыл бұрын
I actually spoke to someone who worked in the control room when the Ballpark was still open. The lack of technology and the failing-glitchy videoboards were part of the reason why the Rangers opted for a new ballpark.

Capital of Missouri is Jefferson City. I went to Dodger Stadium to watch the Angels play in 1964 and it was the biggest place I'd ever been to. It was solidly built in a good location for back then. If Tampa fans won't drive to St. Pete for a winning team they won't go to games in Tampa either. Dodger stadium has people coming in for miles with bad traffic and I lived in Redington Shores and went to plenty of Rays games and traffic wasn't that bad, but Florida isn't a baseball state. If they can't drive 15 miles to St. Pete they ain't going to drive to Tampa or Orlando for games either. Lots of people from Tampa drove to the ocean though. Marlins spent money this year finally since Jeter and company bought the team and ruined the tropical feel of Marlins park, but they finally had one million in attendance since 2017. People in Miami felt insulted by the new owners, the fans liked their stadium and to Hell with them was how they were treated. Samson told them not to mess with the stadium, but they trashed it and turned it blue. There were minor league teams that had a larger attendance than the Marlins. Pretty bad when Loria averaged over a million every year and two million when he spent some money and no one liked Loria.

Agree with you almost across the board. The thing about baseball I find most amusing is that with how important tradition and history are to the sport, they are obsessed with constantly updating their parks (with one obvious exception 🫤). Of course most updates are meant to build new features intended to take more money from their fan base, but, man, build a place and let it stand the test of time, like your #1 park.

So here's a thing about Target Field that's not obvious from looking at it (and thank heavens for that): Home plate is actually in the only place it could be put in the stadium. The huge amount of seating in left field is because there's a cantilever section over the BNSF train tracks. If you put home plate in that corner, the seating behind home plate would be higher off the field, and there would be less space along that line for amenities. The bullpen marks the actual back wall of the foundation part of that side of the building - there's NOT a lot of space back there until you get 20 feet up, which is where the concourse opens back and out. Right field is similar - the Mini-Monster wall there isn't just for aesthetics, it's because the stadium plaza is built over I-394!

Yes, there was 3 events at the same time during game 6 (or 7, I forget, for obvious reasons) if the NLCS. There was a Flyers game & a soccer match between Mexico v Germany. Everyone was tailgating in all the parking lots. Problem was all the parking lots were filled to capacity. But there’s enough public transportation too (game days, of any sport, on the Broad St. line subway are a party themselves!) My strong defense of Citizens Bank Park is you obviously didn’t tour it. I’ve been to majority of the ballparks (haven’t been to the new Braves & Texans yet but was at the old one during their last season) and CBP has a ton of local food stands & there isn’t a bad place to stand or sit at the park. Reds & DC should be below CBP at the very least. My favorite’s, not in order: Dodgers & old Yankees (been there a time of times growing up because I have family out in LA & the Bronx & Brooklyn) Coors & Petco. I think PNC is so overrated. Is the view from your seat nice, yes. But it looks the same the few times I’ve been there & hasn’t been upgraded.

When you sit behind home plate at Dodger Stadium, you do not have a view of downtown Los Angeles. Your view is to the opposite direction of downtown. Getting in and out of Dodger stadium is a nightmare, on the other hand getting out of Angel stadium is much easier. We use to park in lot 5 behind the 76 gas station at Dodger stadium to make it a little better to get out. For Angel stadium I use to park at the Catch restaurant and walk across the parking lot to the stadium. The real issue with Angel stadium is the team's owner wanting something for nothing, unsuccessful in trying to swindle the city out of the parking lot so he can redevelop.

You used an old photo of Busch. It no longer has the view of the Old St. Louis Courthouse (building you couldn't think of, which is infamous for the Dred Scott decision). Now there is an apartment building in right which blocks the view. Also, in right field, the round slim white building has been abandoned for over a decade and it is obvious when you get closer to it (even viewing from inside the stadium). Really enjoy the whole park and area overall though.

You got to be kidding me !!!! Citizens Bank Park has nothing special to it !!!! Liberty Bell, Phillies sign in left field. 3🎉 deck seats in right field . Which is hard to hit all 3 decks. But all 3 decks have had homeruns. Citizens Bank Park, almost every countdown averages about 13- 14. Citizens Bank Park does not get nearly the respect that it should !!!! But I respect your opinion. GO PHILLIES !!!!

The Astros made a big mistake removing Tal's Hill from Center field. Yes it served no purpose and could even be considered an injury risk but considering how little balls were actually hit there that shouldn't have been the reason. The unique outfields are what make baseball special and unique among sports and if all are going to be different than be different. It just looks plain and boring now. Much like the Marlins place where the big sculpture and round, green wall might not have been the best looking or classy but it was definitely unique. Same goes for the Mets who when it opened I was so jealous seeing it when my Braves played there. But yet again they both shrunk their parks down and put just regular bland walls and dimensions.

Colisieum is Beautiful. Paid off almost. Traffic would be terrible at howard terminal and its too close to oakland. Mayne by oakland airport would be better or like you said across the street switch lots. Alameda naval airbase field where airplanes would takeoff at that spot would be best. Oakland airport had a spot right next to oakland raiders training building.

Mostly agree with this, but Coors Field needs to be higher. I’d flip its ranking with T-Mobile, at the very least. Coors is so nice, in fact, it’s the reason the Rox keep drawing despite an incompetent ownership and 11 losing seasons the past 13 years. The neighborhood, architecture, summer weather, and sunsets over the front range past Ieftfield is perfect.

Hardcore Mets fan and I’ve been to Chase Field last spring during April. Day high was about 90 that day game time temp was about 88 and they had the roof open and it felt good actually. In my opinion it gets hated on a bit too much and people get superfluous bashing. At least they weren’t ranked dead last. I’ve also been to Tropicana field and it ranks as my least favorite. You ranked that one well I give you that. It’s ugly man.

I love Brodie, but I’m tired of this. People need to understand the rogers centre is not a multipurpose stadium anymore, that was the whole point of the renovations to make it a modern ballpark, exclusively for baseball. The seats are now custom fitted in the outfield, and the renovations this offseason include ripping out the entire lower bowl, not just behind home plate, and rebuilding it to a modern, baseball only, retro classic style. If you have been to Rogers Centre in the past year, you will know what I’m talking about, this is not a cookie cutter stadium anymore, rogers has turned the stadium in to a modern masterpiece, and its night and day to what it used to be. So, there is absolutely no way this stadium should be in “endangered tear”, so to speak I’m not saying Rogers centre is the best ballpark in baseball,but it’s time we start putting some respect on it once again.

The issue with the Rogers Centre is that its a multipurpose being converted to a ballpark (with last year's outfield/bullpen renovations and this winter's lower bowl renovations). The CFL's Argos have moved to TFC's BMO Field and the stadium hasn't hosted soccer or football since (hence the now all-dirt infield) but apparently Rogers is still debating whether to tear down the whole thing and start afresh even after the expensive renos lol

I think the ballpark itself is really nice. Always appreciated the 2 tier design, which is actually modeled from Wrigley Field. The rotundas are a unique feature, particularly the one in left field. Also, PNC Park was the first to use limestone which looks nice and blends into the surrounding buildings and bridges.

Truist Park is a nice stadium, certainly solid as far as the building and amenities are concerned, but it's also one of the most problematic -- it's location is unfortunately rooted in a complex mix of racism, classism, and unfounded fears. It's been written in many places (including major media outlets) that a lot of locals believe the reason they moved out to the suburbs was due to the fear of suburban whites to travel downtown in predominantly-black neighborhoods. Many community members and organizers even campaigned to make sure that the stadium would not be easily accessible by public transportation, only by car, further restricting many within the black population of Atlanta from accessing the games. From CNN: "I’ve lived in Atlanta for 30 years, and I’ve long heard this talk in barbershops and sports bars. Some Black fans say the team has few, if any, African American players they can relate to. Others believe the team left Atlanta because its suburban White fans felt uncomfortable coming to games downtown, where they were surrounded by Black people." From the International Times: "The real reason for the move? Separating the team’s largely white fanbase from Atlanta’s black residents... Atlanta itself is a majority-black city, with 54 percent of the population identifying as black. The Summerhill neighborhood surrounding Turner Field has an even larger black population: 89 percent. For many white, suburban Braves fans, the neighborhood surrounding Turner Field has never been particularly appealing, despite the fact that Summerhill boasts a lower crime rate than most of urban Atlanta... In the end, as Joe Dendy [former Cobb County GOP leader, now a convicted criminal] inadvertently revealed, the move is about placating white suburban Braves fans who feel uncomfortable in a black neighborhood. For Atlanta, a city with an infamous history of racial segregation, it’s a shame that the Braves’ new stadium will come at the likely cost of the team’s black fans and supporters."
