Whats crazy is at 18 Mack is already doing things youd expect from a veteran center. He leads the league in puck battles won and hes extremely responsible defensively. Bedard is too small right now to be a center. Hes probably better suited as a wing. His game isnt translating due to him being so small
@Gergentine2 күн бұрын
Eh, Point is pretty small too. It'll just take him a bit longer. Especially on the defensive side. Plus, he's only 185lbs, hes still got room to fill out. He could probably still put on another 5 to 10 pounds. That said, Celebrini is a beauty too. Reminds me of Nico Hischier, but more offensively polished at a younger age. He's gunna be a beauty!

I looked at the lines both teams are icing for their forward cores and sj is putting out regularly 6 players that are 25 and under (celibrini, w. smith, zetterlund, eklund, kostin, , ty dellandrea) kunin is only 26 as well. chicago is icing a much older forward group with only 3 players under 25 (bedard, kurashev, and reichel). sjs seems to focused on building chemistry with its young forwards while insulating them with veterans like wenny, toffoli, granlund, nico sturm, and goodrow. none of these guys are older than 32. (as of this writing) chicago is a patchwork of veterans some of which are way past their prime (hall, maroon, nick foligno, and craig smith). hall is the youngest of these 4 at 33 and the other guys are past 35. the rest of the forward group are guys that are into their late 20's or even 30 and are probably topped in terms of potential. i think having celibrini go through this growth journey with players closer to his age will help him as well as build long term chemistry for the team. chicago doesn't seem to be doing that and although their more competitive than the sharks now with the growth of the sharks young core i think we surpass them by next year in terms of competitiveness.

I still remember your 2024 draft lottery video reaction last May and how you openly celebrated when the Sharks won the lottery knowing they now had the opportunity to draft Celebrini who was the no doubt about it consensus projected #1 pick in the 2024 NHL draft & who legitimately had a chance to be a franchise changer which the Sharks desperately needed after the last 4 or 5 years especially following last season in particular which was one of the worst seasons in the history of the NHL during the last 20+ years. As of right now Celebrini is definitely living up to the sky high expectations and hype everybody had for him. Honestly he has a chance to be one of the faces of the NHL for the next decade plus but also the opportunity to be the next big name in Bay Area sports for the next 10-15 years too especially with Curry's time with the Warriors as that dominating figure locally in sports likely coming close to an end as Curry enters his last handful of years playing in the NBA.

With the Sidney v Ovi era soon to be coming to an end, it's great that Macklin and Connor are here to fill the gap. It's the same unfair/unavoidable comparison but it's good for hockey to have 2 very marketable players of similar age to draw attention to the league.
@Shags_982 сағат бұрын
I’m shamelessly giddy about the future for our sharks. I’ve never seen a player so early on, with this amount of innate talent with a full 200 foot game. It’s insane. Time to get back to the hockey elite and hopefully get our first lord Stanley!

Macklin also got a year in College Hockey to develop before heading to the NHL. I have season tickets to the NCAA D1 UConn Men's Hockey Team. In the past decade I have seen Tage Thompson, Macklin Celebrini, Cutter Gauthier, Cale Makar, Jack Eichel, and Macklin's Sharks teammate Will Smith amongst other talent play and develop in college hockey. Some players needed 2 years like Tage and others only were there for a season. Nonetheless these players got extra development and are seeing or saw success in the NHL. I was a huge NHL fan but have been more interested in College Hockey in the last 10 years because of all the top talent going the college hockey route.

The bigger question is what is happening in Vancouver right now! Back to back No 1 overall picks. Shout out to former local No 1 RNH! Both are great players. The future of the league is bright.

I think bedard is having an inevitable sophomore slump, it’s not his rookie year anymore and people are using last season’s experience playing against him to shut him down. Personally I think he’ll bounce back as he finishes growing and gains more valuable big-league experience. We’ll have to see how Celli handles his second year in the league in comparison

As a sharks fan it’s too early to decide who is better. Mack could have a sophomore slump like Bedard next year once defenses can study a full year of his game. I will say tho that Celebrini has a more well rounded play style overall
@petzlpretzel43743 сағат бұрын
I’m a hawks fan so I’m biased, but what San Jose is doing seems so much smarter than the hawks they have brought up their young players to get them chemistry with each other and they let them play offense unlike the hawks. The hawks have a patchwork of shitty veterans then bedard I just don’t understand why they don’t bring up their young talent they have been drafting for the past 5 years. Watching the hawks it seems like bedard is the only nhl caliber offensive player on their team, feel bad for him playing with a bunch of 4th liners. Davidson is an absolute moron.
@spooky.tattooer39 минут бұрын
I'm a Sharks fan and I agree with you. I think Celebrini is having an easier time adjusting because a lot of our lineup is not much older than he is. He doesn't feel like a kid amongst men like Bedard probably does. If the Blackhawks were smart they'd commit to a younger rebuild for chemistry and longevity with Bedard.
@JM-gj7deКүн бұрын
From a neutral's perspective, I'm taking Celebrini all day! The kid is electric. You can see pure joy exploding from every pore in his body when he scores goals. Just seems like a happy kid. Bedard, like Connor McDavid, seems joyless and miserable. I kinda feel sorry for Bedard. So much pressure to live up to the "generational" tag placed upon him. Far too much for a young man. Just leave him alone and let him develop.
@spooky.tattooer28 минут бұрын
The Sharks are so much fun to watch this season. I haven't missed a game. Feels like an entirely different team than last season. The only downgrade is the pregame/intermission/postgame commentators. I knew I was gonna miss you brodie but not this much. Watching these other two guys bumble through a breakdown is excruciating at best. We desperately need you back! 💙🦈
