Just another thought, the scoober putt might be handy in a strong headwind, instead of the disc lifting up, like in a standard putt, it would force it down into the basket.

Wow, I guess this shot came around after my ultimate playing days. I've been playing disc golf for a LONG TIME...when we used to call it "object golf" using a Frisbee (1980)...and I've never really gotten comfortable with the thumber or tomahawk, so I'm going to have to give this a try. Taking my portable basket to the back yard now. (Corona isolation....blah~!!) Anyway, my son and I have been watching you for quite a while now (he intro'd me to your videos) and I wondered if you were going to give disc golf a go. Glad to see that you have, although I'm totally jealous that you're starting out and playing with McBeth and company~!! Keep it coming~!

This is really interesting because it's a throw that personifies the bridge between ultimate and DG, in the same way that Brodie has now come to personify that link. It's a concrete example of how a skill from ultimate can be super useful in a DG setting and it's been proven. I'm definitely going to be utilizing the scoober in situations like Brodie's describing and also have it as a tool for off-the fairway situations that call for creative scrambling.

Bro, I'm an old Ultimate guy who just started Disc Golf in late 2019. I was throwing the ol the Scoober all day on the disc golf course yesterday after every putt. Finally, I had a shot to win on hole 18 but there was a bush/tree between me and the basket (low ceiling) so I could not throw under. Went with the Scoober from about 28' over the tree and nailed it. That Utimate experience pays off! Thanks for sharing!

Brodie, 6 month player, saw this video about 2 weeks ago. I never got a chance to practice it though. I played a mini run by a local group in burleson, and found myself in an untenable position on the #8 hole, in the middle of a bush, at about 25 feet, needing to save par. I remembered this video and said what the heck, only shot I have, and first time I ever tried it, hit the putt. Thank you for expanding my thought process when facing these situations!!

That's awesome. An almost completely new throw that has real utility multiple times a round. Thanks for sharing this, Brodie. My go-to in that 50-foot left-to-right putt situation has been a patent-pending annie putt. It's so cool to suddenly have another, much more controllable, way to do that. And putts on baskets at the top of hills with the scoober look way easier.

I firmly believe that many of your throws will start to find success for you, which will help others feel confident in using them. Please make a video on *which Ultimate throws can improve your disc golf game* (besides the scoober). - My name is Florian Lingenhel and I've been playing disc golf for more than 8 years since I was 10. I played on the U17 Austrian national squad in Ultimate Frisbee and still have a lot of the typical form in my throw - but not for the bad. Especially my upshots are very smooth and I can do longer runs at the basket when I'm throwing just like I would when I give someone a pass. But that's only form. Since you've been playing Ultimate for a much longer time than I have: Can you work out which throws, techniques and other Ultimate typical motions can help someone swaping over / playing both become a better disc golfer?

Great commentary on the Scoober. As you came into that last putting situation, I would really have liked to see you take all 6 of those disks, and throw them, uncut, one after another. I don't expect you to make them all, but it would be a great way to reinforce the same stance, angle of release, wrist action, etc, all in a row. Better yet, throw 6 with Kelsey capturing from behind, then go pick them up, return to the same spot, and throw them with Kelsey getting you from the front. Finally, thanks for keeping the content coming!

I think I often try to do a similar shot with a very lofted, "granny-shot" backhand when I'm hoping for a soft landing and wanting to almost "free-throw" the disc into the basket. I think your scoober putt may be a better way to approach these shots and look forward to practicing these in my backyard. Thanks for the content.

In Wellington New Zealand, We have a variant we call the "Traveller" (After the person we all got it from... that's his name)... We use it to go a distance through very tight trees, especially if you can't throw a flat through a narrow gap (me). We take a very flippy (mid range?), go with an overhead Scoober at about 11pm (Right forehand), and throw with some force. The result is often a 270 deg barrel roll (I've even seen Traveller get a 360) through the gap... The path (for a righty) is straight for about 50ft (at a tree on the left), turning anti clockwise and to the right, missing the tree, and continuing its anticlockwise roll on for about 150-170ft. Most of us barely get a 90-180deg roll but the result is an upside down slide on the ground beyond the trees.. It does require some height in aim at the initial roll turns down and under in its roll.

I've been using it as, something is directly in front of me and the basket. Instead of throwing a hyser spin put around the right where if I miss I might be getting further from the basket or even giving it a chance to get a roller going and getting me further. The scoober gives you that great flex around an object, gives you a decent attempt at making it, and also if you miss, almost 100% of the time its gonna sit right where it lands giving you a great close up tap it.

Thanks for the tutorial on a shot most of us don't know much about. I would also be really interested to see how you're working on improving your backhand footing - specifically getting your lead foot more parallel when you plant it so your hips get more engaged. I have the same issue and it's a tough one to resolve for me... I know there's some mobility and hip flexibility issues there, and maybe also some subconscious concern about not hurting my right knee while rotating. Anyway. I'd love to see any drills or tips you find on that.
