We do not pre heat the heads. Pre heating will soften the metal making it weaker. We also do not hammer the metal. All we do is weld beads in and allow plenty of time for cooling so the head doesn't get too hot. We also have rods that use the specific mixture that we use when casting our products. This takes a lot of the guess work out. If the head is damaged enough it will require a heat treatment but when you get to that point it may be cheaper just to replace the head.

Man thats an awesome job you guys did there. If i didn't knew that one was repaired, i would say its brand new.

I would throw that thing away (if i had a car) but no, he repairs it, and it looks perfect! God bless these guys

Amazing! Just amazing. Sometimes obtaining a replacement part is not an option; antique vehicles, custom heads, cost...
@BrodixCylinderHeads12 жыл бұрын
Yes they still have the same strength. If a certain amount is repaired they are heat treated again to assure they have the strength of new cylinder heads.

Looks like a it had broke a valve head off or dropped a valve? Great job and craftmanship on the repair.

@01ticktick For a short time we repaired other heads. There was more to deal with when repairing other peoples products so we decided to just repair our own.

Wow! Nice work! I especially like the "we only repair brodix products".... Like you could EVER do that work to an Eldebrock head LOL!

We don't preheat the heads to avoid softening the metal. The rods (after being welded) we use are equivalent to the hardness of the head using the Rockwell B-Scale to verify it. Using our methods we avoid softening the head during the repair process. If the head is damaged enough that the metal is soft we heat treat the head again. Normally when this happens the head is softened from the damage by the customer, not from the repair process.

I`m interested to know if you pre-heated the head before welding so to avoid excessive heat build up in one end. I saw a video of one being welded in the states and the guy flattend his weld with a small planishing hammer straight after welding a pitted area. He said to condense or perhaps compress the soft welded alloy for more strength. Interesting vid as i have some polo g40 heads i`m going to repair. Thanks!

Whats the cost effectiveness like , obviously if people are having them repaired it must be cheaper then just going out and buying another head or is it more its easier to have it repaired then it is to have to wait for a new set to be made ?

doesnt the temperature change of the head when it was welded effect the chemistry of the metal around the welds? wouldnt it weaken the metal around the welds?
@BrodixCylinderHeads13 жыл бұрын
@dragtrack1 We do grind away the damaged material. Our block repair video is a little more in depth to the whole process. We have been repairing out products for over 30 years and haven't had an issue.

Once our expert gives a quote we call the customer and tell them if it's more cost effective to repair the head or buy a new one.

Very nice work. Excellent, but in my opinion if my cylinder heads were damaged like that. I'd just buy new one's. They mutilated those heads, but very nice work on repairing them.
