Yes, this movie is a masterpiece, there has never been an movie that had put one single emotion so very perfect on the screen. It is very hard to describe. The urge for something, the ideals, the lust. In the movie there was a street where one of those guys went. I have felt the same, for me it was a park close to my home town. I just had to go there, after dark. It is completely impossible that Annie Proulx, a Canadian woman(!), is able to write down a story that is so typically male, women do not have this. For me this is one of the top five movies ever made.

As Brokeback Mountain was released in Germany, "Der Spiegel" (the most significant weekly Newsmagazine in Germany) published a review, stating that Heath Ledgers performance was "fast schon beängstigend gut". This (loosely) translates to "almost scary good". RIP Heath, you're one of those artists who never got the chance to show us your full potential.
