CPS is not a place where lazy ppl should ever be allowed to work. That is absolute laziness to not go speak to Melinda physically. There is no excuse for this to keep happening. Too many children and workers stretched thin. This isn't an easy job in best of times and it has a high burn out rate. There are many people that don't have the money to get a college degree.. If the government really wanted to, they could train workers to do this job. I used to work with MH/MR adults and children. I don't have a college degree but this stuff can be taught. Especially to hard working people that would really like this job and just have that good inside them that wants to make a difference in a child life. They should really start training people to do this job without the college degrees. Most people can fill out forms and referrals. Most people can look at a child and know there is something wrong. Wouldn't it be better to have a lot of social workers trained then a few with college degrees? Most mothers have what these kids need already built inside them just from raising their own children. Don't get me wrong, im not making light of a college degree. But right now there are so many children that need a stable adult in their life it would be worth trying. Like with teachers they could require background checks, finger prints and then completing training courses. They could even do hands on with other social workers until you know what you are doing. Then require so many extra training hours a year. I just think its something that could be done if they really wanted to solve the problem. With taking abortion off the table for women, there will be a lot more babies going into the system. They will need even more trained adults to help with the growing need.

Not knowing real love, patience and kindness. Not knowing what it felt like to just relax and be a carefree little girl. I have 2 grand girls. One is 8 and the other is 2. I cannot stand for them to cry or be upset. They are just too little to feel the sadness of the world just yet. Kids deserve to feel only happiness and love until the world dumps on them. Why are you apologizing for reading the facts? Your attitude is outrageous. I was a severely abused child; everyone looked the other way. We have to start facing this! This is why these people get away with it. Stop helping them!

Those parents don't deserve to live after what they did to that poor child.

This is crazy, this us happening wayyyyyy too much. These mother's need to stop bringing their boyfriends to their home when they have daughters. The mother should've been protecting her child . She FAILED AS A MOTHER SHE'S A MONSTER!!

It was the father and step mother but it's a two way street. Mothers and Fathers got to keep these ppl away from their children, not welcome them into the home. CPS has been failing for years, time to start holding them accountable too, not just the social worker over seeing the case whose hands are tied either; but the organization as a whole.

So she had two prior investigations, the first for a 2-year old (only dad arrested), then a 3-year old where she pled guilty to child endangerment. I bet those two were also not her children.

This is so sad. I can't even imagine someone treats another human being let alone your own child like this. Now we know she is in a place with no pain and she is loved. ♡

I hope humanity gets better. That we learn from the past and we stop living with fear and our egos. Poor little girl

My gosh, this is horrific. The problem is those that torture think everything they are doing is ok, they are emotionally ill, absent of apathy, a sociopath. Not the first, not the last.

I'm so tired of hearing about these cases. It's ridiculous... people in public service fields need to be compensated adequately and given adequate support as far as staffing goes!!

Did the system fail the little girl? YES! My question is, why aren’t these 2 people in jail?
@laurapearson82083 ай бұрын
CPS cannot do everything, people. Families, friends, neighbors all need to get involved for these things to stop happening. The girlfriend needed to be jailed for life 25 years ago. Lawyers and judges are also responsible for failing this poor little girl. It's a systemic issue.

If child protective services was involved how would the father as custodial parent be allowed to have this girlfriend in the home when she pled to child endangerment charge? Unnecessary for this child to be murdered.

Horrific. No one stepped in for that child. Parental rights alive and well. Apparently, there is a need for community to weigh in when children are at risk. Instead of all the noise about Partisan issues. Children like this go unnoticed in all the Noise. Tragic beyond imagination what she went through …

I'm hoping we get to see some results of this investigation. It's heartbreaking to know that other children are being tortured, but we never get to hear that social service administrators will change policy and get appropriate 'nosy suspicious' staffers who will get a voice.
