Have you ever considered making a pirate doll? That could be an option in the next stockbox series? You're so creative and I'd honestly love to see what you do with a pirate
@repoasta
@repoasta Жыл бұрын
That's an amazing suggestion but the stockbox series of dolls is meant to go in with no prior thought, she's made exceptions before but I think she mainly goes in with no theme! (I suspect this is for the fun of making things on the spot, it really keeps things interesting, y'know?)
@Asexual_Individual
@Asexual_Individual Жыл бұрын
@@repoasta She does go in with an initial idea that's voted on by viewers, either a theme (like "Unicorn" for Guinevere) or just going off the doll itself. It's planning that she doesn't go into a Stockbox project with. So, "Pirate" is a viable option for a Stockbox doll. I'd vote on it if it showed up in the next vote, there's lot's of different designs that could be made depending on what doll would get used.

for remaking an neck bar I've found cutting a thicker sewing needle (from a dollar store) to size works wonders. If u slip the new bar inside the hole in the peg when u pop it back on it'll just fall into place using the method at 1:48 (where u just pop it back into the neck). Getting it open a little while u slip it in also makes it easy to get glue between the cracks to seal 'em up. Ive also found moving the peg till the glue dries helps it to maintain motion

Right! My grandpa "fixed" mine (he did his best, it was really sweet) but it meant her neck was too short and she glue coming out the neck. She looked so bad! He was really handy, which is why he fixed her for me. But if this video existed, he could have used this to figure the mechanism out and make it like nothing even happened.

My mom would throw away headless Barbies, so I quickly learned how to get the neck pegs back into the neck, and even retrieve them if they were rattling around the head. Fortunately I never had truly broken pegs! My middle pulled the head off one of my oldest's favorite Rainbow High dolls. It took me AGES to get it back together, and even now it's a dicey fix. I can't cut it up or use any of these fixes without my daughter absolutely losing it (the doll was a Christmas gift from her grandma and not many Christmases with her remain), so dicey fix it has to be!

With fixing the neck bar, I’ve actually had luck replacing it back to front in a similar manner as the first example without it showing through to the front. In my experience, there’s a little grove on inside of the front neck section where the original neck bar slots into and if you line up a hole in the back you can slide a new bar into that same grove. Then there’s only one visible hole and it’s on the back of the neck where it’s the easiest to cover. I think your method is much sturdier in the long run though so there’s that to consider as well. :)

I've actually used epoxy sculpt on a Lagoona doll to make small gills on the side of the neck to hide the neck bar or any other seam fix. Helped keep it all together & looked pretty good ^_^
@QuantumWaltz

Seems like the same could be done for a Frankie doll if you're willing to make her a little less mobile at the neck joint - but by emphasizing the new neck bar with little bolt ends! That's if the Frankie base is going to still be a Frankie by the time the project's done, anyway.

For sculpting a new neck peg you really don't need the long part just the small dome at the base. I swap all my dolls heads around and so to make that easier I cut the length off and shave down the sharp bits.
@monstresynthetique3644
@monstresynthetique3644 Жыл бұрын
I do the same too! The second, longer part isn't useful for mobility or solidity... I think it's just there to make the heads harder to remove (maybe for young kids' safety?)
@featherfae2875

If your neck peg isn’t broken but the plastic around the neck has chipped (most common with older Barbies I think) what I do is mix up equal parts acrylic nail powder and liquid, it makes a paste that’s easy to manipulate into the cracks and chips and dries super hard. I’ve filled in huge chunks of chipped necks like this. Just make sure you keep moving the neck peg around as you build up the material to keep articulation. Its honestly surprisingly effective.

Oh how I wish this video existed when I was working on my first custom! The base was an EAH Kitty Cheshire and to say the neck area basically disintegrated is an understatement. Pretty sure her neck peg is still rattling around in her head and the bar ended up snapping away with a significant portion of the front of her neck. Tried to use superglue to repair the neck but it unfortunately failed me and ended up resulting in a larger break in the process. Luckily EAH heads are so bulbous that with a little bit of posing I could conceal the break and just superglue the head directly on to the neck. 😅 Thanking the doll gods that I haven't had a neck problem that severe with my customs since, but I'm incredibly thankful this reference exists in case it ever happens again!

I remember when I broke the neck peg of my first ever and favorite custom at age 12. I was devasted and simply hot glued a cut qtip to the neck (a terrible solution). A year later I realized I could just switch her body lol. To be fair to my younger self, I had no idea what I was doing. It was back when I hot glued nylon hair to the head bc I didn't have a reroot tool, couldn't figure out how to get doll buzzcuts bald, made all clothing without patterns, didn't know what to repaint faces with, and watched myfroggystuff like my life depended on it lol. I had no clue what I was doing till I found your channel!

When I have spare molding material while sculpting I make little flowers hearts or beads. I don’t usually have a ton of excess, I like to think I’m careful but over the years I’ve accumulated a small mason jar of them. They make great little gifts or just a spare piece to add to another project. Not the most creative use, but it’s a fun thing to have on hand.

I've used the elastic method, though a little different. I made a very tight loop around the bar, then attached a rod about double the width of the neck hole with the elastic secured In the middle of the rod. I then just inserted the rod Into the head. Awesome video! In my experience, I had managed to craft a sufficient replacement neck peg out of just wires. I used thinner jewelry wire to create the base loop, then used a much thicker wire (the kind that takes lots of effort to bend and thus certainly wouldn't bend accidentally) to act like the wing structure found on manufactured neck pegs. This type of peg does require one to work the doll's head on more carefully and deliberately as opposed to just cramming it back on, but it works pretty well with just a couple tweaks.

Thank you so much. I was gonna reboot my Abby doll because of the hair type poly and her neck peg broke

I did something similar to the last method, only instead of modeling the anchor I used a button, I passed the wire through the holes where the button is sewn, since the important part of the anchor is the base, it is what really supports the head, I also did it because I didn't have epoxy putty

What a fabulous job. Now I can go and get fixed her broke neck barbie. The one she wanted is the rag doll Elsa! Thanks for sharing your video. ❤❤❤❤
