This was our first experience getting on the brand new BMW M1000RR, and it has a left a bit of a sour taste in our mouths. However, we still got the bike out there and here are our first impressions!

Totally understood. I already put the flash on my 23M1KRR with full set AK titanium exhaust. Quick shifter is even faster. Downshifting sounds like tearing the air. More powder on 1st and 2nd gear mid range. Overall I like the new mapping. I also put race air filter on it 2. Follow your advise putting the nicer 23 NRC tail tidy

To break your bike, before first start verify level of all fluids of course, then start and wait 5 mn for heating all components and oil gently. Then ride slowly and use engine braking as much as possible. never go over 6.000 rpm in the first 20 miles. Then max rpm will be 8.000 until 350 miles done. Always back and forth with load power and engin braking with a variation of 2000 rpm or more. Only after the breaking period you can flash it. You will get a more progressive power, lower idle rpm from start, cooler engine too, etc.

Why does the actual engine sound so awful? It’s so rattly, sounds like a box of rocks inside. Has a ton of valve train noise or something. Not a fan.

We have no idea Rick. The S1000RR's that I used to complain about (2020 and newer ones) make this look and sound good. It sounds a little too metallic and harsh for our liking.

Won't touch a BMW again, did 1500 road miles and both inlet/outlet camshafts had cracked. After 3 months managed to get my money back as 3 month wait on parts and couldn't give me a loan bike. Happily on an R1 now.

2 weeks ago I commented on your M1000RR series Part 1 video. Honestly, I can say that I'm not surprised by the red check engine light on your M. I'm very sorry that it happend on your machine soo early. I was able to put on about 6,500 tuneless miles before my 22' M1000RR received the same check engine light. I love the BMW brand but I just wish that their superior engineering translated to superior reliability. This may be the case with the boxer engines but for some reason the inline 4's specifically the K66 seems to have issues straight off the assembly line from Berlin. Love the honest video, prospective buyers of this machine should know what they are getting before dropping 40k on what many call a dreambike(myself included). With videos like yours people can see real world experience.

If those Germans want to charge you $40k for a motorcycle, they better make damn sure that they are Genius enough to have ZERO issues. The higher the cost the more perfect it should be on every level. The cheaper(cutting corners) the more problems should be occuring; which is where the Hayabusa takes reign because it doesn't have the best parts(no steel brake lines, etc..) but the reliability of it is at the top of the food chain...matter of fact the engine of the busa is so reliable that there are only 2 motorcycle dealers, both located on the East Coast(Pennsylvania & Clear Water, Florida) that guarantees a lifetime guarantee of their engines and any other mechanical issue that deals with the engine/software !!

With how computerized and elaborate these new bikes are hiccups are expected. On the other hand with this being a halo / flagship bike - I feel this is quite embarrassing on BMW's part. Love your videos, the humbless you show and the immense technical info you always present 👍

It's nothing serious, I had the same thing with my 2022 exact same thing same code n it was fine... I took it back to them n it was based on some simple thing and it never came back so I would not worry. And the restrictions are o. All gears so not to worry but I would say flash it BT Auto n I promise you it would make you real happy.

I think the same way about just riding an s1000rr around town and enjoying it not going 180 . Also just having a machine like that is cool. But for 40,000 it isn't for me . 20,000 is plenty of money

I saw the BT Moto videos and the BMWs are so restricted in 2nd gear, you're getting a 600 and not a 1000. At the top of the range is when "VTEC" kicks in and the power surges violently. That's how restricted the new M 1000 RR and S 1000 RR come from the factory.

Yes the restrictions are present and the 2023 feels much more restricted than the older models.

Welcome to euro 6 emissions .... Big tip ... the honda cbr 10000rrr has huge over heating issues ecu frying , oil coolers melting .. The bike is so bad it does not make it through comparisons .

I have noticed that there are many BMW S/M 1000 RR 2023 models have the same issues with the high pitch vibration, I have confirmed the dealer in Dubai regarding those issues and we’ll see soon ,I do have the previous model M 1000 RR 2022 as well but still it feels way better than the latest models

JD power surveys constantly have BMW cars near the bottom for reliability and they've been building cars a lot longer than Superbikes. Says it all really, buy Japanese if you want a bike that won't break down on its first ride

To be honest we had much better luck with their 4 wheel'd products. But also lets not forget the after sales experience with the 4 wheeled counterparts are much much better than the 2 wheeled offerings. Look out for my rant and real talk video coming up on that.

I'm almost done with my 23 S1000RR-M break-in run.. be honest, I was thrashing it since the time I pick up from the BMW store and never had an issue. the throttle has that delay if you haven't changed it to level 1 in the settings. I do think it's a quick bike for what you pay for! The only annoying thing I hate about it is the vibration you get and the seat. ill be changing my seat to a lower profile one and ill be also dropping it 1inch lower

Throttle has the restriction no matter what you do, Race pro mode, street mode etc... It is an ECU restriction to meet emissions / noise regulations. Can't really trash the bike when it is limited to 8k rpm too.

SAD TO SAY THAT MY 2023 M1000RR WAS TAKEN BACK BY BMW AS A RESULT OF A FRONT BRAKE (MASTER CYLINDER) FAILURE. AND AFTER A NASTY ACCIDENT THAT ENDED UP CAUSING ENOUGH DAMAGE TO DECLARE THE BIKE AS TOTALLED, AND REAR ENDED ONE OF THE RIDERS IN FRONT OF ME, LUCKILY IT HAPPENED AT A LOW SPEED AND ALMOST COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AT ABOUT 40km/h OR (20-25m/h). NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON WHATSOEVER AS I MANAGED TO RIDE THE BIKE BACK HOME AND TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ABOUT 250km AND AGAIN NO WARNING LIGHTS OR MESSAGES ON THE SCREEN. Ps: THE BIKE HAD NO FRONT BRAKES AT ALL , ABS WAS NOT ACTING WITH THE LEVER COMPLETELY PRESSED DOWN AND THE COMPUTER SEEMED TO BE OK 👍🏼 WITH IT . COULD’VE KILLED MY SELF THAT DAY AT A HIGHER SPEED AND NO BODY WOULD HAVE EVER REALIZED IT WOULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY A BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE.

My mate has a 22' model S1000XR and the motor sounds as horrible as that. It sounds like the pistons are going up and down the bores sideways ! I'm not a fan. KZbinr Calimoto has a new M1000R which broke a conrod at 700 miles, I hope your RR doesn't do that too. I shall stick to my Japanese bikes and their reliability.

The engine sounds very metallic, and imagine the sound comes through to the mic in the helmet quiet clearly. Hopefully this little hick up was the only thing it did.

My 2023 S1000rr also has issues. The slide control has packed up, same sort of message on the dash😡My quickshifter is also faulty. What’s going on with BMW?

They are being cheap. Cuts in production budget, putting on sub par products on their vehicles. Look at the problems the brakes caused because they were looking for cost cutting and switched away from Brembo.

Rear sets have the fold in, do they have the none folding foot pegs?

The rear sets come with set screws so that you can stop them from folding.

Manny ihave the s1000rr 2023 and it has shown that same error 4 days ago. Can you tell me what it is? And if i really need to take it to the dealer??

You will need to definitely read the code and see what it is. It will need to be cleared if it is the same issue. In our case it was a misfire code, which BWM claims can be caused by air in the injection system. We are lucky that we have our own diagnostic tools to be able to not deal with the dealers at all (another real talk video coming soon).

The dealer have rebalanced the wheels and there’s no pitch vibration anymore, so probably the issue was from the wheel balancing

Obviously we are using premium fuel on the bike. I think you must be in Europe where the fuel ratings are measured differently. We use 93 pump fuel on all the bikes we have.

My last 7-8 bikes in the past 2 years all had something wrong. 2022 V4s oil leak, wheel scratch 2022 CBR 1000 RRR water pump 2022 M1000RR oil leak, 3 places 2023 M1000R water pump leak 2022 v4 SP2 oil leak 2023 rc8c oil leak, scratched fairing 2x 2022 Aprilia RSV4 oil leak

How will you solve the vibrations in the mirrors ? The buzzing bars on my 2020 S1000rrM stops me riding after about 30 minutes as my hand are dumb and painful. That’s with bar end weights !

The bmw M levers guards help a lot with the vibration. It does not get rid of it, but it helps significantly when using both lever guards. Worth the money for sure. I made a video on it a bit back on my KZbin channel

Our Streetfighter V4 did not miss a single beat in many more miles, but yes, out of experience, our R1M's have been delightful! People get stuck on the bells and whistles like dashboard, cruise control and heated grips, but the true inner workings are what makes the sport bikes much more enjoyable.

The swing arm is "anodized" according to BMW. It does not come with a belly pan since the muffler box is so big now, they don't want to cover it because of the heat they generate.
