In this powerful episode of The Long Way Back podcast, we sit down with John Paul Long, the youngest of the Long brothers, for an intimate and emotional conversation about his life journey. Growing up in poverty and navigating an unstable childhood, John Paul shares what it was like to be brought to counselors at a young age and how the words he heard during those formative years impacted him deeply.
He opens up about his delayed entry into drug use, his harrowing battle with heroin addiction, and his heartbreaking experiences with relapse. John Paul also shares the pain of losing family members to suicide, his multiple near-death experiences from overdoses, and the spiritual moments that guided him through.
This is a raw and real account of addiction, relapse, and ultimately finding hope and faith on the long road to recovery. Don’t miss this gripping story of survival, resilience, and redemption.
Tune in for an unforgettable conversation.

Great podcast Timmy long made such an important point that you can't keep expecting a loved one to get recovered. I also feel that I enable my dad in his recovery when I am feeling responsible for his recovery and moods. Like Timmy said you can support your loved ones while looking after your own mental health as it can be draining trying to control the recovery of a loved one for me it is my dad. I always feel responsible for him and I need to learn that his wellbeing is not my responsibility I hope Timmy you eventually start back this podcast as you are very talented and are helping so many people so after you rest I'm sure you will eventually come back even 1 good quality podcast per month may be the solution so you don't get burnout thanks again

I came from such a different background and one day we will talk. I cried listening to ye but people who come from rural Ireland without life of drink and drugs, far cry to my children's generation. Loss from suicides and how it takes a village to raise a child but one to destroy one. Long story different childhood. I thank God for my parents, my childhood. My children's childhood very different and 3 children very different but all non judgemental and TG all healthy and good now. Kind regards Noreen
