@@TheFlyingKiwiNZ hi, thanks for the video. It did work on my terrano. But my odometer stopped working. Do you have any idea what it could be? Thanks😃

Thanks mate for the tips. My proton (local produced car of Malaysia) tachometer was not working for many years and I just open up and solder all the contacts as what you did. Just done.. fitted back and it works :-)

I think Ill leave mine the way it is.... easier to get out of tickets that way..... :) Thanks for telling me how to fix it when they get rid of the speed limits though! I just tell the cop 'hey look, my gauge cluster is shorted, can you give me a pass?' As long as he isn't riding with you, he would never know the spedometer works just fine :P
@GurwinderSingh-xk5fb3 жыл бұрын
That may work there mate. But here in NZ if you say that, your car will get big fine and demerit points. Bcos without working guage, car is consider unroadworthy and cant be on the road.🤪🤪

Hello my friend. I did what exactly you adviced and i fixed it. After two days of normal indicator of the rpm it broke again. Do you know what is wrong? Thank you.

i fixed mine this way except the only joints i resoldered were the four locations on the circuit board where the screws come through to hold it, these are also electrical connections to the tacho

Mines stuck on max. I did what you did in the video. Didn't help. I'm thinking its on the Alternator, (one that's on it looks newer to the rest of the vehicle. Any thoughts

Hmmm sorry, I haven't come across anything like this. I would have to personally troubleshoot it. I hope you find a solution!

@@TheFlyingKiwiNZAfter some research sounds like the tacho comes off the efi governor on diesel pump. But tried the same fix again with more solder and cleaning up under the earth screws, tacho is working sometimes, so ill have to try a 3rd time at some point.

Yeah pretty much. Clean up all the solder joints, most likely fix it

What causes it to break , wear and tear? mine is doing the spining or just dont move at all
@TheFlyingKiwiNZ5 жыл бұрын
Over time, certain types of solder becomes brittle, also if you overheat solder it becomes brittle earlier than if you don't overheat it. You know it has been overheated if it pulls into a sticky point as you pull away the iron. Also vibration will crack brittle solder, old diesels vibrate a lot!

@@TheFlyingKiwiNZ , my car is 16 years old 2003 monte carlo. that thing just acts up spins or stays on 4 or 7 the last few years. does it matter if it works ? im thinking shouldnt effect anything if it dont i dont want pay to fix that ....
@TheFlyingKiwiNZ5 жыл бұрын
No, a tacho is just a nice to have and it won't affect anything else as far as I know. I just got annoyed watching it be all spazzy so I fixed it.

Toss board into oven for 10 min. 375degree. Its resolders old solder and bam. Should work.

Really?

hmmm that's pretty risky if you don't know what you're doing. I'd just stick to the soldering method.
