Stability was great! Really. I now own a Brompton but I also have a 29er Mountain Bike. The Brompton is just as stable... if anything... its much more maneuverable. The gearing is great as well. I ended up purchasing the 3 gear version. I stay mostly in the middle gear but if i need help with hills I have #1 and if I want to gain some speed... which is not really the point of the Brompton... I switch to the 3rd gear. Great commuter bike! Everyone is so amazed with it. Its a genuine design feat!

The bicycle is the best way to see cities. You get a sense of connection with the place. The best holiday is to go to a good city and pack a bicycle in your luggage. Stay in a holiday let type apartment and each day go for a journey in the city on your bicycle. As you travel to the tourist attractions on your bicycle the journey will be just as interesting as the tourist attraction.

brighton dude i did it while i was in berlin Germany i saw every corner of tha amaizing city with my folding bike, i was there many times but that time with my bike i felt like I'm discovering new areas ......

its actually surprisingly good. I too was skeptical about the size but it is just like the bigger sizes in terms of maneuvering. I own a dahon but am seriously jealous of the way brompton folds and is more compact ,, but i guess thats because my dahons a 20 incher

Looks like a great bicycle ride. I'm not sure that I would be comfortable in the NY traffic and might be tempted to ride on the pavement instead. Weather similar to that in the West of Scotland!

I've been thinking about getting a Brompton. I just did my first test ride today. I actually thought the M handlebards were more comfortable than the S. I'm still undecided though. The small wheels may take some time to get used to. I hope to do another test ride soon. I live in California but I like visiting NYC. Do you guys do Brompton bike rentals? I'd love to ride through central park.

you have the 3 gear internal hub version, correct? i hear it is very easy to maintain and has much less exposed/moving parts... you probably never have your chain pop off when you're shifting or going down the road huh? i imagine they are quite reliable!

The Brompton looks like serious fun, plus it folds so nicely for trips on mass transit. How was gearing and ride stability with the 16 inch wheels. Just curious.
