I have flown the same way with my bike. I use 1/4” corrugated plastic sheets, like folks use for cheap signage. Wrapping the bike in an old yoga mat. I remove the quick release, and reinstall with a pedal wrench I bring along. It just bugs me to have the QR sticking out. The two bag system works fine, but I would love some wheels on the bottom. Mini skateboard? My B75 with helmet, tools, lights, and all is 35 lbs. Cheers from Chicago.

@@thebrommuters6220 Just back from 2 weeks in Florida (escaping Canada’s winter). We are in the planning stage for the next trip (Eurovelo 2 or 12). Jeju Island is a possibility later this year (we need more stamps in our Korean Cycling Passport 😀)

03:02 Please can you explain what saddle clamp you’re using and does it provide suspension to a standard saddle? I use a Brooks B17 Flyer Select on my H6R.

Yes it does! That is the Airseat Suspension wich is mounted to the original pentaclip or aftermarket solution

Yes, as regular luggage. The Dimpa matches the airline regulations perfectly, and even those got stuck on the luggage band in Frankfurt Airport. 🤢

so you recommend this method? just add cardboard box around the side? This is a great way to travel cuz then everything packs nicely, but you need to still carry around the cardboard.

That's right, it worked fine for us.we used cardboard and foam material. But we would even more recommend the method of our friend "Forty Plus": just simply pad it with some clothes for even lighter traveling and flexibility. Let's be honest: if you ride a Brompton long distance and worldwide, there are LOADS of other things to worry about than some potential scratches and minor damages from getting it loaded in and out an airplane.

@@thebrommuters6220 thx. I was thinking about getting a brompton for bikepacking for long distances, but not sure how it holds up. How the comfort when riding for long distances, and on non smooth terran? Since theres no real suspension, do you feel everything and get discomfort after a while? Should i look for something else like a standard bike? Not sure which bike to get! Hope you can share your experience thanks.

@@funguy2627 Short answer: No, buy a Tern. Cheaper, faster, packs smaller with minimal disassembling and uses standard parts wich are available everywhere. The only advantage of the Brompton is that nobody in Hotels complains when you take it with you in your room.
