"Tannus" (Handicapper here) installation experience: Installed 26-inch Tannus tires on a wheelchair-looking handcycle. Multiple videos online! Some had complained about the multi-hour installment experience. I sat in my electric recliner chair and thoroughly enjoyed MY 2-1/2-hour installation, PER tire! "Jus sayin." Listen to the radio. Tire-rim will need to be repeatedly placed vertically onto floor, while in chair, for increased leverage stretching tires with the nylon tire tools shown. Feet and legs help with preventing sliding, while leveraging tire onto rims! I bought the highest PSI-equivalent tires (stiffer yet tire material) due to my heavy weight. Used both identical tools from my two tires order. Consider needing two each of those levers, even if only installing a single tire! Also bought their "pliars" tool shown in Shu's video. Definitely (hugely so) buy that tool to install your Tannus tires! Some purchasers talked about warming tires in sun, or in a clothes dryer. Did not do either suggestion. It SIMPLY Takes Time to Stretch the Tires (they cool too quickly) to get them onto your rims! Heating the tires is totally irrelevant to the time required to get them installed. HUGE INSTALLATION TIP: It hugely helps if one uses 1/4-inch-width "Ty-wraps" to help stretch tires onto rims. Ty-wraps are "Additional hands" on a HUGE, HUGE level. Some "Ty-wraps" also have longer locking tabs that allow release-and-re-use of your Ty-wraps. Most will be removable, AND, re-usable! Some needed cutting to get them off. Hope this helps someone. I love them. I installed them myself all alone the first time and it took me 3-4 days because I broke my thumb nails trying to get them over the rims. Cheaper, definitely. But now, I just buy from a local shop and have them fit the tires to avoid the pain. LOL! The only thing to note is that it isn't as grippy compared to regular tires, so slow down when you take corners. Other than that, you will never ever get a flat again.

Yikes! That sounds painful! This was my third bike that I installed them on. I don't have the muscles to do it by myself and always need someone. How much does a bike shop charge to install them?

@@BromptonFamilyTime , at the shop, the tires are just a few dollars more than if I bought it online and had them shipped. Then it's another $50 to have them fit it on the rims. They have a device that makes it easy for them to do it. I'd much rather pay than hurt myself again.

@@BromptonFamilyTime , I'd do anything to avoid having to fix punctures, especially on the back wheel. Plus I don't even need to carry any tools for fixing tire flats anymore. Can you imagine how much weight savings that is for am extended bike packing trip? No pump, no spare tubes, no levers, no patch kits, etc. What else did I miss?

@@BromptonFamilyTime On my normal bikes (I haven't changed on my Brompton, till now) you press the tyre to the center, and it becomes an ability to get it over the rim, with the tools. When the first one is over, I - suppose it is possible to fasten it to a spoke, before using the second tool, and then sliding it along the rim till its tyre is free, all the way round. And then You are able to do a control if anything sharp is still inside, which may give a new puncture later on.

Hi! Yes we plan on updating how they perform over time. I don't think I will go back to regular tires unless they can improve them on small wheel bicycles. We have a lot of glass in the road around my neighborhood.

I just installed the Tannus tires(on sale for $54.99 with another 10% off) for my 2021 Brompton. It took a lot of patience, brut strength and %$#@ :P (1 hours per tire). I used the tool(plastic T-tool) that was included with the tires. Tannus now includes the 20.5(purple tabs). I tried the 21.5 as recommended by yourself and other youtubers, but it would not budge. I switched to the 20.5 and it clicked in smoothly. I screwed up on the rear tire directional, but it was at the point of no return. Oh well ;DDD Thanks again.

🧑🏼‍🦲 Wow that's great! The first time it takes longer. I have done 9 tires so far and it gets easier 🙃 As long as a second person helps me. I forgot to check the tire direction twice but luckily it was the correct direction. I don't think you will notice except maybe in heavy rain. Do you ride in the rain?

@@BromptonFamilyTime 9 tires !!!! Whoa !!! I Haven’t rode in to the rain yet. I removed the OEM mudguards to lighten the bike. Looking for a lightweight mudguard solution. Might go with your recommendation🤙💪👍

Love the idea so so much but eventually went back to normal tires. 2 reasons.. One is it was physically painful to install, took me 3 days cuz my hand was hurt. Two, the rolling resistant was significant. But once you ride on it is you will feel invisible to flats.

I can't do it alone. I always need help installing them. They are good for small rides and areas with alot of flat causing roads. I always keep my set for the winter. It seems that I get more flats in the winter.

I bought these tires and found that i cant get the tire to seat on the rim. The tire base is too wide to fit down into the rim. You used the P-tool to force the tire into the rim. I suspect i have to use the P-tool. The S-tool doesn't seem to help in seating the tire into the rim.

It's not easy at first but you really need to find the right angle to push them into the rim. After a few tires, it became easy with the P tool.

so when i order the tires i get 3 bags of clip sizes? or i need to specify which clip i need? i don't want to disassemble my front tire just to measure the rim, i'm sure this info is ONLINE somewhere...i looked and the internet says my inner rim width is 17.5 mm so what clip color i need?

It will come with three clip sizes. You throw away the sizes you don't use. I don't remember the size I used but it's simple to figure out once you get it.

I just brought Tannus Tires for my Brompton. Does your handlebars touch the floor now when you fold your Brompton after putting Tannus Tires? Mine does after I put the Tannus Tires. I tried to adjust everything and I have to tilt the back a bit for the handlebars to lock in when folded.

The M Type handle does come close to touching but it is off the ground. The S Type too. What type of Brompton do you have?

Is it brompton have standard rim wheel? I bought 1 and try 21.5 but it not possible to lock into the rim wheel

I have used the Tannus Tires on standard rims and others with no problem. The pins are hard to pop into place and take time to get use to installing it. My hands always hurt when I am done.

🧑🏼‍🦲Yes. The Marathons were good overall as long as you keep them inflated properly. I used them for a few years and would get a flat every few months. Most of the time they were pinch flats so it was my fault from not inflating them enough.

@@BromptonFamilyTime I've finally gone full-out Tannus on my 2 speed Brompton, and on my very first ride of about 4 miles, I noticed a loss of about 40-50% of my usual speed due to the high rolling resistance. Also, I noticed a clicking noise on my front tyre probably the result of 1 of the Tannus pins not seating in properly. Did you experience this? Everyone says that you need give them about 100 miles to wear in properly. Familiar?

@@GWong-lr7ry From my experience I am noticing only a 20% loss on the three bikes I have them on now. It took me about 50-100 miles to break them in. Did you install them?

@@BromptonFamilyTime Yes, I installed them all by myself without help from anyone :) Took about 1 hour per wheel. I sealed the valve hole with a piece of rubber to prevent any water from getting into the rims. Learnt this from your other video 😀

@@GWong-lr7ry Nice! Yeah it takes time the first time. I think the break in time is needed so the tire forms into the wheel. I'm surprised you feel they are 40-50% slower (unless your riding on hot asphalt in hotter temperatures?). Let me know if they feel different once you break them in.
