Thanks again Chris. Lots of people don’t realise that they don’t know the saddle is not at the proper height especially for hills. I was riding for a long time with saddle to low caused me knee and back pain thought it was my age. Once adjusted within days I could feel the difference, Great tips once again. Every blessing my friend.

Hi Chris, That's a good tip for when you are making many stops. I automatically raise my seat to the full extension. I have been riding my brompton for 6 months using the standard seat post. At 6 ft tall it seemed to be sufficient. I recently switched to the telescopic seat post(and brooks b17 saddle) and found that raising the seat just a little bit does make a difference. As a bonus I can easily remove the saddle if need be. Myron PS You inspired me to name my bike. It will be "Little Red". I haven't decided on gender yet:)

@@ChrisbyBike I understand the titanium seatpost has more flex and that's great for uneven pavement because it doesn't cause a bounce impacting the efficiency of pedaling but it helps even out the bumps. I'm excited to hear your take on this

Thank you again. I'm planning a visit to a Brompton dealer once the covid lockdown lifts to find out what fits me/my riding style best (6'1"guy here) and to put in an order. I am to understand that if my legs are on the longer side since I'm kinda tall, I'm going to need the extended seat post or possibly telescopic for versatilityand I didn't really know how to figure out where I should have the seat at (not a cyclist) THIS IS PERFECT! Thank you so much. ☺🤗🥰

@@ChrisbyBike I am not sure what's available in North America at the moment, I'm afraid they might have discontinued Raw Lacquer. I see that they have a black lacquer and a flame lacquer version but I'm not sure if the raw lacquer is still available but I'll find out! I was really into torch welding and brazing in my twenties and I absolutely love seeing such amazing skill in the Brompton brazed joints. It's art to me. I'm definitely not interested in the S bars but I'm not sure if I need the M or H. I'm hoping I can get an M6E to fit. I found a really nice carbon titanium rear rack and nice aftermarket fenders to finish it. I am not going to be touring as you do so I don't need the rear rack to hold weight, I just want it to be a sturdy place to mount EZ Wheels. Is this an H&H titanium? Whatever it is are you happy with it? (I'm obviously shopping haha) Aftermarket fenders are also cheaper than going M6L. This rack has a mounting point so you don't need fender stays as on the L and I don't want/need the heavy Brompton rack of the R. Thank you again! I think the rack is really the only modification I need to make. Here is the quick video I found that I followed to the Facebook site and contacted the company to find out where to buy the ultralight carbon fiber rack in the US: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3LVmnpqqNmAqJY They also have so many titanium Brompton accessories like the wheels you got and put on in another video

the Raw Lacquer is beautiful, it shows all the magnificent welding of Brompton. Well chosen! I hope you find it. The M bars will be a low bar for your height, but if you are use to road bikes, it will be fine. My triangle rack is from H&H and I've chosen a Aluminum because it is lighter them Titanium. There is a link to my Aluminium rack at the Video My Brompton Upgrades At the description part kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3-3qHxtgK1jsJI A upgrade that is very useful is the EasyWheel extension. Makes it easy to push it around. Nice to have you on board!

As an owner of a Lightweight Brompton, my bike was delivered (in Scandinavia?) as standard with the extra long, 600 mm seat post, and though I have bought a similar length, special (With a ring-mount for the saddle) titanium post, I also have ordered a standard length, 535 mm, titanium, black post from China (Same price as an original post!!!) for testing if I'm able to use it during travels (I am a rather tall, and heavy guy of 184 cm), as I hate having to remove it and the saddle, before putting it in my German, black B&W, travel box (I mostly need more luggage than just one bag, also with a Brompton inside it!). I may be able to also use the original Brompton insert then, also, as I hardly care about the saddle height and just take it out as I think it should be and ride along? Mostly I hit a reasonable position. ;-)
@ChrisbyBike
@ChrisbyBike 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Finn Carl Bomholt Sørensen You, also, can have the extended version. It makes easier to travel because there is only need to take the saddle attached to the inside post. No need to unmount. Keep Safe! Keep Riding!

I'm fortunate in as much as the standard seat-post, fully extended is perfect for me. I often find after riding about 10 miles the post has slipped down by a couple of centimetres (less than an inch) and it's really noticeable - less comfortable.
@ChrisbyBike
@ChrisbyBike 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Frank, that's fortunate. But if your seat change height after you ride, that's probably because your Brompton Plastic sleeve is worn out. Between the frame and the seatpost is a plastic sleeve that acts like the rubber seal, if we do not open the seat lever all the way to move the seat, this plastic sleeve start to worn out. Easy fix! Just buy a new plastic sleeve, change the old one and ride with your perfect seat height all the way. Nice to have you on board!

Hi Mick When I start riding my road bike with the peloton I had many questions, lukly I had a lots of friends and mecanics to answer them. It help me to ride better with less injuries. The seat hight is a tird of the ajustment. There is the position of the seadle in relation of the seatpost and there is level of the saddle. But the second ajustment is more technical. Basic is: No Pain, Happy Ride🤩

@@asap19980 the videos I'm watching I believe they're putting on mechanical disc brakes because they deal with a lot of hills. I don't think I'm going to have that many Hills but it was something I was curious about as well. I guess with the bike this size and for the type of riding, hydraulic disc brakes are a whole lot more complicated with no more benefit than mechanical disc brakes BUT take that with a grain of salt because I have no experience with either I'm just doing my research before I purchase and taking that from other people's experience and examples

Hi Bad Grandad We all have different characteristics. Some times, when I'm playing tennis I can't hang five some duble partners because there hands are so sweaty that I would have to dry my hands after the hang five. And because Brompton's Seatpost moves inside a plastic sleeve, Brompton recommend that we keep the seatpost always clean. "Seatpost Make sure your seatpost clean as any contamination on the post or the sleeve inside the frame can make the post slip down when riding and might make it difficult to raise and lower the post when folding/unfolding the bike. It is worth remembering that many cleaning products will leave a residue that can cause similar problems so rinse thoroughly with clean water" Nice to have you on board!
