Ordered a Brompton with extended seatpost but they sent the standard one mistakenly, so this is super helpful to me. Brompton replied to my email within 24 hours and said they'd send me the longer one.

Hello, Seatpost removal and installation is not a problem. My difficulty is my Seatpost sleeve is badly worn and requires replacement. With no dealer anywhere near where I live I'd like to do this myself and some instructions or pointers on this process would be helpful. At present I have got the seatpost holding using a shim made from an aluminum beer can, but this won't last for long. Cheers Ted

The dear Lady does not specify an important point. If you are holding the bike the normal way (by grabing the frame), it will collapse when you remove the seatpost. You must hold the bike by the rear wheel, otherwise you need to be prepared for a very bad surprise.

Not true for Brompton bikes made after 2006. In 2007 Brompton introduced a rear locking mechanism that prevents the bike from folding when the seatpost is removed.

Hello, I live in a provincial town in New Zealand, the only dealers in the country, two, don't know how to replace my worn seat post sleeve. So a how about a post on this forum about how to deal with a worn seat post sleeve?

Without the O-rings, there's a risk that the Penta-clip can contact the frame and damage the paint on the top of the seat tube when you push the saddle down.

By taking off the clamp, holding/tightening the top section, as it is put on in the beginning (I have one T seatpost also) but most times You don't need to remove anything but the top. I bought mine - (from "Brilliant Bikes", I may add!), as I needed to be able to put my Brompton in a: "Black, B&W travel-box" for the purpose, and as a Scandinavian Brompton, it is sold with a 600 mm seatpost as standard (At least mine was!)! So You can't put it inside the B&W without having to remove the saddle, and the post before it is possible. And remember the two rubber rings! I lost the one so I had to buy some extra.
