BRONCO SOFT TOP STRUT INSTALL FROM IAG PERFORMANCE. ISSUES TO LOOK OUT FOR.

Was very helpful!! The instructions from the manufacturer for this soft top strut were good but not as detailed. Also becaue you showed the piece up claw I realized the hard ware with the ball joint on it came assembled on the outside rather then the inside. I had to take it off and turn it around. I would have never know that if you did not show the piece up close. I will send a note to the manufacturer to see if that’s been a problem for others. Thanks again for the detailed instructions

@@salameid8428 we had the same issue as the screws were put on incorrectly/backwards. So much for Chinese manufacturing quality and assurance. Thank goodness my wife the engineer figured it out.

Although I don't have our Bronco yet we did order these from IAG and will be installing once it shows up. You guys installed the top ball mount facing inside the vehicle. If you watch the IAG KZbin video they install theirs with the top ball facing out. This could be why you had some issues latching the top down when fully open. Not being critical. I watch a lot of your vids and appreciate the content. Just pointing out a discrepancy with your install and the IAG install on their product. Keep up the good work.

I saw that too but the latching problem was because of the adjustment of the latch itself. We had removed the struts to verify it was an issue before the struts and it was. There are others who have had the same problem.

Got mine, Struts were not strapped so it was a pain in the butt to compress them to get them to mount. At the time the video they had was for the strapped ones but now they have a video for ones without straps. Found if you push the top frame up you can get the extended struts to fit.

I like watching your videos, I just installed the ez lift on my Bronco but it looks to me that you installed the top bracket backwards the ball should be facing outwards not in the cab, it helps the shocks from hitting the pillars, iag has a install video also

My Build date go pushed back a few days to the 1st BUT I did get my window sticker and Online support confirmed no Chip delay for my build or other constraints! I had been thinking of these struts and had read on the 6g Forums that they had some issues that were being looked into. Clearly you guys did not have said issues! I have since added these to my shopping list as well as the hood struts. Thanks as always.

IAG sent a notice out for the struts and new brackets will be sent out. That is good business. a quick response and resolution by a company to a problem customers are having. They get my respect for that. Gratz on the build date. I was told that my BD will be released from purgatory by 31 March... we will see.

According to the Amazon IAG item video, the thinner rod end of the device goes on the body of the vehicle. In your video, you've installed the struts backwards

Just aren't too crazy about the whole soft top design, seems like everything is a pita to manipulate. I hope that when we can get a hard top for it that we won't have to use our house for equity. By the way, great video you guys. Let's me know what I'm in for. 🙂

They are sending out new brackets so do not put your soft top down until you install the new brackets. Its scratching the bar when you put the soft top down. I got mine but haven't installed them yet

21:12 You hold your top down from the outside when you latch your top down in the front. Was that on purpose or coincidence. I've found I have to do that on my badlands to get the driver side to latch easier. I'm trying to figure out how to fix it. Currently for some reason the driver side takes a whole lot of pressure to get it to latch compared to the passenger side. Have you had that issue?

I wasn't holding the top down... I was holding me up so I didn't fall over when reaching for the passenger side. They are both pretty tight when latching.

I just ran across a video post letting Bronco owners know that IAG makes a cut to size PPF strip to protect the Roll Bar. I've seen people do the same idea to the area that the soft top can rub when you're putting it back down. So if you order 2 roll bar strips you can cut the 2nd one in 1/2 = No More Rubbing against Paint for ALL 3 Contact Points. Problem Solved. :)

It's not during the movement of the top, it's when it is fully down. It has rubbed all the way down to the bare metal. No amount of PPF will stop that.

Also with PPF, it will get dirt underneath it. So we aren't going to do it.

Your adjustment notes may prove to be a lifesaver as I'm having the same symptoms. I noticed you really had to wrench on that release lever...were you able to adjust that to a point where it was easier (or, hell, bearable) to use? If so, what did you wind up doing?

We were able to adjust it a little bit and made a huge difference with the release of the top.

Very helpful as always…about how much higher does the top go with the struts versus the factory stand? Also, how does it impact the side windows since they have to flex when rotated up like that? Would have been good to demo the struts with the windows back in. Thanks for all the insight on the install!

Not much, maybe an inch or two, but the convenience of not having a rod helps. Plus to lift the top when it is down.
