Hello guys! New subscriber here. I was wondering if you have this steering system available for 79 Jeep CJ? I wonder because earlier broncos have a lot in common with Jeeps. Thanks👍🏼

I have just completed my James Duff suspension lift on my '77. Getting ready to install the new Heim steering now. I will watch this a couple of times to make sure I have the steps down. I truly appreciate the videos here at Bronco Garage.

Man , i gotta say, i thought that heim tie rod thing was so awesome. I called these duff guys talked to just an AWESOME guy named Chase , man the customer service over there is just absolutely TOP notch. AND spoiler alert i am a chevy guy and he still helped me and answered all my questions, in fact probably over talked his ear off over this end trying to find out about it, and he was still 100 percent genuinely polite all the way through. i can only say great things about the customer service, EVEN THO I WAS NOT EVEN A CUSTOMER. Don't hate, i used to have broncos too, loved my 1978 bronco, but they are just so darn expensive and rare now i can't get one. ... Thanks for sharing that end in the video, that is a fantastic creation. Trying to figure out if there is anything in these videos that i could transfer to my builds.

those cheap chinese harborfreight jack stands are recalled. i had the pawls disengage and drop a vehicle. i would return them as they should still be warrantied and buy some USA made ones that double lock.

What’s the secret to removing the lower stock bolt for the track bar? I’m pretty sure mine is welding in from the back.

I couldn’t even find anyone to work on my bronco like you guys here in Long Island New York. There really isn’t any people around here who want to work on fords only new trucks.

Get yourself a ton of old Bronco Driver Magazines, Ford Bronco Manuals and watch as many of these DIY videos as you can and absorb everything until it's part of your DNA. Just sayin.

So if the right side is at full droop and left side is full bump, will the heim joint at the Pittman arm still articulate? I am very surprised that the rod end can take that much angle.
@BroncoGarage5 жыл бұрын
The drag link is connected to the tie rod similar to a stock steering setup. As the drvr tire drops and the pass tire lifts, the drag link pivots off the bolt at the tie rod connection point (the saddle) not off the spherical ball in the heim. This design alleviates any binding at the pitman arm heim.

great I have a question about rod over knuckles. I have our new knuckles for the d44 and I see the bushings to use for the original tie rod ends that I can put in from the top or bottom. my real question is can I use the original stearing linkage to go above the knuckle with out modifications?
@BroncoGarage5 жыл бұрын
No you cannot. Once you try it you’ll see why. It’s physically impossible due to how the drag link connects to the tie rod.
@timbjork20985 жыл бұрын
I see if I simply flipped the rod it wouldnt work but couldn't I rotate the rod ends 180 on the rod on each end opposite directions. And maintaining the orientation of the drag link being out and a little up?
@BroncoGarage5 жыл бұрын
The stock linkage is only adjustable on one end. If yours is adjustable on both ends it was bought that way from a Bronco vendor that machined the other end to have an adjustable/replaceable end as well. If that is what you have then yes you could do that.

Ok. Nash!... your bronco looks like it’s sitting higher or is it just me Still a 2.5” SL with a 1” BL ? Those 35”ATs look like they have so much room? Is this still the case? The new joints, do they transmit more vibration through the steering components ?
@BroncoGarage5 жыл бұрын
Still a 2.5” with 1” body lift. No, you won’t feel or hear any vibrations or noise from these joints like you would if they were used in the suspension.

Depends on local regulations.

Thanks for the video guys. I very much want to do a setup like this. I have a 2.5 in lift and no body lift. When I'm making my purchases do you recommend a drop pitman arm and a riser bracket or is it not needed with this set-up? Thanks in advance :-)
@BroncoGarage4 жыл бұрын
If you use the riser bracket you will not need a drop pitman arm or a drop trac bar bracket at the frame.
@ShawnsEarlyBroncos4 жыл бұрын
@@BroncoGarage Thanks for the reply. So what is the better approach, a dropped pitman arm or the riser bracket since you only need one or the other? My first thought was dropped pitman arm, so I don't have to weld, but I am willing to weld if the riser bracket is the better way to go. Thanks!
@BroncoGarage4 жыл бұрын
If you use a drop pitman arm you typically have to use a drop trac bar frame bracket to realign your steering geometry which requires welding. Since you have to weld either way, I would rather weld the riser on the axle.
