How to Photograph Animals: Horse Photoshoot

In this week’s how-to episode Urs Recher and Karl Taylor photoshoot horses.
While Karl is taking portraits of a horse against a backdrop of the rising sun, Urs aims for an ambitious action horse jumping shot!
Both photographers take advantage of the Siros 800 L with the RFS 2.2 in their photoshoot. This combination allowed them to shoot with fast shutter speeds.

Hi boys, Thank you for the How To videos! It seems like you've adopted a more conversational/collaborative approach, with slightly less explanation of lighting basics. If so, I like the change! Most of us who own, or are in the market for these pro lights don't need the basic instruction. We're looking for innovation and inspiration... and you two are great for inspiring! Please keep the creative banter going. For the jump shot, it looked like you needed all the power you could get. were all four lights at full (10) power? If you hadn't the need for such power, would the quality of light change much if you had turned the extra Siros L heads into the Paras, instead of away? Thanks again!

Question for Urs and Karl: which stands were you using to hold up the Siros lights with the para 88? It looked fine holding the light & modifier without any sand bags
