Have you camped at Bronte? What do you think of this city campground?

Nice review, I personally have a hard time with parks without beaches or anywhere to swim.

Thanks! Yeah I tend to agree, I think for us this will be a shoulder season park if we go back.

Lets face it. Everything was better before 2020. Our kids swam in that pool way back in 2004. It was a beautiful pool. Did not know there was camping there. 😮. You did a fantastic job cooking there. Looks yummy. 🌿🌿👌👌✅

Thanks so much! Still learning the grill. And agree... before 2020 so much was better. I bet that pool was great in it's day.

I grew up going to that park as a kid so this video took me back! Here is some info regarding the pool closure😊 The recreation complex, including the pool, tennis courts, and volleyball courts are over 35 years old and require significant repairs. Ontario Parks is currently working towards having the repairs completed to reopen the pool.

I wanted to expand on your comment about there being leash-free areas on both sides. The Burlington side has kind of an average loop trail and can be quite busy sometimes, but the Oakville (camping) side leash-free area is HUGE! Both are un-fenced so a good recall is essential. There are trails, too, so it's not just an open field with owners standing around. Anyone camping with dogs should be excited and definitely plan on lots of time for the leash free. I live in Burlington and tend to go several times a week and also enjoy an occasional camping trip there.

As a non-driver Bronte Creek was super easy for me to get to on transit. I enjoyed the separation of day use from camping but I camp to relax and be alone. I wish more camping KZbinrs would talk about transit accessibility but understand as a non driver I'm in the minority.

You can get to any of them from transit, call an uber from the bus depot to take you the rest of the way. If you only want ones on a bus route you'll be seriously limiting your selection.

Good to know about the transit options. The only transit I take is to commute to work, but otherwise we must drive to bring our trailer! 🤣

We stayed there last June for the first time. It was super convenient to Brontë GO so we could visit my friend in Long Branch and my other friend in Grimsby (which we drove to). My husband is still sad that we ran out of our Bronte Creek maple syrup. So because we went before school was out, the gatehouse was closed early (like 4 or 5pm), so we got wood at a gas station. I heard that both that pool and the pool at Earl Rowe closed for COVID and have never reopened due to repairs (Bronte’s was built in 1977). And Earl Rowe was promised to reopen in July (which didn’t happen).

I love Bronte Creek, no idea why GTA folks think they need to drive 3+ hours just for a couple nights camping. Hidden gem.

Shame about the pool being in that condition. The last time I was there was +/- 1996 and it was very lively and packed pool. a quick google search states its been closed for only four seasons (wow nature works fast to reclaim) and that Ontario parks is working to get the repairs done.

Hopefully they work faster before nature makes it not worth saving! It's pretty overgrown already.
