Lehman College
The Bronx Branch of Hunter College was first established in 1931. The campus was the primary national training ground for women in the military during World War II. For a decade before the entry of the United States in World War II, only women students attended, taking their first two years of study at the Bronx campus and then transferring to Hunter’s Manhattan campus to complete their undergraduate work. During the war, Hunter leased the Bronx Campus buildings to the United States Navy and used the facilities to train 95,000 women volunteers for military service as WAVES and SPARS. (I am an alumnus of this college).
Bronx HSS
Bronx High School of Science was founded in 1938 as a specialized science and math high school for boys by the New York City Panel for Educational Policy Resolution. Morris Meister was the school's first principal. They used an antiquated Gothic-gargoyled edifice located at Creston Avenue and 184th Street in the Fordham Road-Grand Concourse area of the Bronx. The building, built in 1918 for Evander Childs High School, had been successively occupied by Walton High School (1930) and by an annex of DeWitt Clinton High School (1935). The initial faculty were part of a contingent from Stuyvesant High School.
Meister put his imprint on the school from its formation, for example, selecting as school colors "green to represent chlorophyll and gold the sun, both essential to the chain of life.

I’m here living on reservoir for 40 years. I still find beauty in everything my neighborhood has to offer. I walk the reservoir every day and I always find something I never noticed before. I recently walked through kingsbridge proper. It’s the neighborhood that borders riverdale at the bottom of the hill.. dope area.

Thanks for taking me back here. Lived at University Ave & Kingsbridge Rd. Went to St Nicholas of Tolentine from 1st to 5th grade. Moved away from the Bronx in '90 when I was 10. So many memories, I really need to visit again, good thing I still have family in NJ. Glad to see the McDonalds is still there lol to the left at 4:22. My dad took me there now and then after school.
