well, both situations happen frequently. However, both rolls, especially supports, have a hero to swap to, in this case, for each tank and their playstyles. Sometimes, your tank in low ranks will just walk in and eat damage, expecting unlimited heals 24/7. Go Moira, and if that doesn't work, switch heroes to deal with your tank's stupidity instead of their pick. Just understand your role and know the jobs of each hero in your role. There are answers for nearly every situation. You have the agency it really does come down to getting better. When it clicks, you will know, and the game will feel much more fun and rewarding. The bottom line is that you gotta figure out a solution and execute it. We are gaming. We're not here expecting the game to play 4/5ths of itself.

@sollux136 ай бұрын
Imo good positioning IS being with your team. I think it's better to think more about realizing value than following some arbitrary principals like "high ground is best". Where in this moment do you have the most value? Sometimes that's high ground, sometimes that's main, sometimes that's flank, but almost always the most value is realized by playing with your team, wherever that happens to be in the current moment.
@Meese126 ай бұрын
Yeah i see good positioning as more of a checklist than a yes-or-no thing. There's having good cover, there's playing within your team's LOS, there's controlling sightlines for the enemy team, there's playing high ground, etc etc and you generally wanna do as many of those as you can.
@NightBlade1176 ай бұрын
Good positioning is more than just taking high ground. You can ALWAYS play with your team while ALSO having good positioning.
@sethescope6 ай бұрын
btw, playing with your team doesn't NECESSARILY mean being all grouped up together. in some team comps, that's how you want to play with your team, but playing with them just means going in when they do, backing up when they do, etc. you will play with your team differently when you have a wrecking ball vs a rein, for example. playing with a ball means you go in when ball does, but it doesn't mean following the ball around. with a rein, typically, most of the team will play roughly grouped up with the rein with maybe 1-2 people going for an off angle. this can absolutely vary and depends on the situation, your team comp, their team comp, whether an off angle is needed or whether you need to maintain frontline pressure, etc. I just want to clarify because "playing with your team" is a more nuanced concept than the phrase implies!

Played like a scared little B the last 2 minutes. You have 2 min left and like 15m left on cart. You only need to win a single fight but have enough time for at least 2-3 full regroups. So make a play, if it works out you win, if it doesn't work out you can try again. Like at 26:56. They let their tank die but the dva is dead as well so the fight is still winnable. But whats the win condition here? Its the soldiers flank to the right, he read that situation perfectly. Either you make an aggressive play and clear the cart before the dva gets back or you don't. If you don't you might as well die fast and regroup in spawn. Ana can't disengage, soldier can't disengage, they're commited. So she should've tp'd in and enabled that soldier. If it doesn't work she just dies and regroups in spawn with the rest of the team.

I enjoy this kind of spectate. Some packages on heroes take a bit more timing to work, but bronze rank you are generally coming out of QP experiences. Generally a QP is more death match, so using the abilities correct are so different in comp. My opinion anyway. Thanks for the video!
@Real_MisterSir6 ай бұрын
Something everyone should realize, regardless of rank: The abilities your hero comes with, automatically demand a responsibility from you. It demands that you make use of those abilities actively and consistently -and if you don't, you're playing the wrong hero. You need to adapt a playstyle where TP and Suzu and wallclimb is an active enabling aspect of your playstyle, otherwise playing Kiri is a waste of time. It's like going to war with an assault rifle, but only using single-fire mode. You NEED to be able to use all the options your kit allows you to use, and you need to experiment with playstyles that are enabled by these abilities and opportunities they bring. Another example, Mercy: If you don't use her flight as a core part of your playstyle, and if you only yellow beam as your generic way to get value, you're not a Mercy player. You're just a player who happens to be stuck on Mercy. Every single hero is like this, and the sooner you start experimenting with playstyles that are fully and consistently enabled by the kit of the hero you've picked, the better.

@@WhereIsYourIDno, they tell even less in metal ranks. They tell you what number you hit, they dont tell you how well you played your hero. Also in metal ranks people just shoot a tank 80% of the game while they counterswap them. In overwatch 1 I was hardstuck high silver low gold on dps. Why is this relevant? Because I had absolutely no space whatsoever as dps. I have had multippe games with over 45k damage and 70 elims with 8 deaths and no mercy pocket. I lost because my tanks would refuse to take or clear highground with me. I literally couldn't play better and I would lose because I couldn't clear the highground because a sigma mercy and ashe sat ontop of it and just killed half my team every single fight. In ow2 I was plat 1 untill a couple of seasons ago when I stopped playing really. Why was I plat 1? Im indifferent about stats. Lets be honest, they matter. They just dont matter as much as some people think. Im in metal ranks, I play with my friend a lot whos a Tank main, and im a DPS/Supp flex. My friend absolutely sucks at DPS. He always tries to queue it (which is ok to want to improve) and his stats are always just awful. Im talking low damage output, cant get any kills (which isnt the tell all because if you lose team fights as a team nobody's really getting kills), and the biggest of them all hes absolutely feeding. Like 15+ deaths consistently. Which wouldnt be a problem if he didnt always blame our randoms. I say all this to say, at a certain point stats stop mattering but until that point, theyre an easy way to tell whether someone is being impactful at a base level, ESPECIALLY in metal ranks. Higher ranks they tell a lot less of the story. In metal ranks the surface level shit matters. If you have someone not healing or someone not putting out consistent damage and finishing kills it has a bigger effect on the game in metal ranks.

They only matter in the context of telling if someone is actually doing anything. Even then, it doesn't tell the whole story. For example, if you've got 500 damage and 8000 heals on Ana or Kiri, you're doing it wrong. I think outside of some supports, there's not a whole lot you can deduce from stats. Other than situations like that, what's the different between a Genji with 8k damage vs 10k? It's impossible to tell. The 8K damage could be mostly squishies and the 10k could be farming the tank, in which case the 8K is probably getting more value. Or they could both be killing squishies, so MAYBE the 10K damage Genji is more impactful. As for accuracy: outside of possibly Widow it's a completely useless statistic. There's almost no reason not to just spam in the general direction of the enemy team during the poke phase or between team fights.

PSA to all the low elo players, scoreboard doesn't matter. If you blame your teammates and use the scoreboard to do so, you have a fundamental misunderstanding on how you should be playing Overwatch. You're not alone, but it is time to change that mindset. At least if you want to get better at the game. I was hard stuck bronze for years until I realized that it wasn't my teammates that were the issue, and I have now climbed up to gold. Stop letting your ego get in the way of your gameplay. Just play the game, and play with your team. As long as you're playing at the pace of your team a game will be winnable no matter how close it is...

I want to say, climbing this far hasn't been easy because of these people. I don't think they are bad players. But once you start blaming your teammates your mindset changes. So in order to climb with these people on my team. In all the games I win I am always making sure I have the most kills. Because they won't say anything to you if you have the most kills. Once I have the most kills, I communicate with my team as much as I can and try to be the best team player I can possibly be. I also make sure that anyone I see on the scoreboard who is struggling gets some extra support, because we all have those games. And being down one is all it takes for the enemy to have that advantage. At least that's how I have been able to rank up. Because I know the more support and praise I give my teammates the better they will perform and I will perform well because I am able to help them with those plays. Huge thanks to Emongg, if it weren't for his spectating videos and his attitude towards Overwatch, I wouldn't have ever got any better. And I probably would've stopped playing tbh. I paused before 11:20 and was just about to mention TP/Suzu too which could have saved Ram 😅 They could have pinged 76, TP/Suzu Ram, let dps handle damage and just keep everyone healed. most likely 76 could have been Petty and still Target Kiri regardless of them taking damage. Good game sense, you can kind of figure out when you make a good target for the enemy team to focus, so your team gets the elim. Sometimes, you have to take the risk to TP into the fight if you trust your own game sense to stay alive but keep the team healed. Like what people say online, if you think you’re better than your entire team, you better carry 🤨 I could never 😂

My bro has the idea that the only stat you should worry about is the elim/death ratio on dps and tank (no less than 5:1) and healing/damage/deaths on support, he is kinda right in that theory but that also makes him either extremely passive to save his ult till next season or burn his resources as soon as the cooldown allows him, worse thing is he blames everyone but himself when i try to coach his games

stats are important but they dont really affect the game… it definitely matters if your dps are dropping 1/14 or your supp dropping 2k heals. i dont think you should be reading it like the bible but it does partially reflect where the problems lie. ofc stats are not as important as the objective but they do matter and you should strive to have better stats than your enemy counterparts. also keep in mind a bad plan executed with the entire team is better than mediocre plans being played individually EDIT: bc im sure some plat players are gonna disagree with me i consistently place high elo on pc. stats don’t necessarily show the entirety of the game and healbotting as a supp is prob not the greatest idea, but ik there are gonna be plenty of bronze-play players who think that means they should entirely disregard stats. you have to pay attention to all elements of the game and the problem is low elo players tend to hyper focus one problem when there are really countless
@emacliftsalot6 ай бұрын
Tbh I think this kiriko has the much better tank and if you read this. Try to adjust your aggressiveness or passive adjustments toward what cooldowns have been used. Moria used ult (punish window) orisa used gold (punish window) instead of just healing and sitting back like emongg said. That way you will know what appropriate decision to make and have a much better understanding of what your tank is trying to do. Ps peak top 10 top 500 player

Honestly, I check my stats but more to see if me or someone on my team should swap. Generally terrible stats can correlate to getting diffed/getting countered but bloated stats can also mean feeding or playing for kills and not to win which is also bad.

I think the scoreboard is really important to figuring out what is going on in team fights but only to a certain degree because if youre dps is 2-8 with 10k damage they're just farming the tank so they should probably shoot something else but this kiriko didn't even give their teammates a chance to shine with how they played and then still blamed them. Me personally I roll the dice on crazy plays every time because it can only go two ways, really bad or really good. I dont even think they realize that they were the number one contributer to that loss
@lruddy88206 ай бұрын
the kiri wasnt giving their tank opportunities to make plays or putting them selves in a position to help but the tank wasnt wasnt giving time for either support to heal them up and popped three ults under half health in the first round, if the tank is making it hard for you then dont make it harder for yourself

Came across a really delusional tank one match. At first all I know is at the end he blamed me and the other support for not healing enough. My response at the time was that people need to learn not to rush in alone. Man I didn't know how right I was. That also coming from a 21h noob at the time. So I watched the replay back and the very second time he dies he... get ready to cringe. He runs into all of the 5 players on the other team as a Hog. Not just that, but he's using his heal like it's a Rein shield and immediately gets the other support killed. I come in and tried to help him but obviously he had no self preservation. He just thought he was invincible because he was a tank. Watching it back I realized the guy basically had both supports pocketing him and he was so bad he threw the round. The very next round I was paired with I believe it was the science guy (can't remember his name) and the person played the corners and actually gave myself and the other support the position and protection we needed to support the team. One example of why it's always crucial to look at what you are doing first before pointing the finger. So the first game was a defeat and the second was a victory because of the difference in the tanks skill.

I mainly look at stats if we are struggling to see where the weakness is and how I can adjust. If they are out healing, I try to get someone who requires less resources. If we are low on damage I pick high damage. If we are low on picks I try to pick a burst dmg character.
@sethescope6 ай бұрын
I like what you're trying to do, you're trying to use the numbers to figure out what you can do to be more helpful. that's a really good instinct!! however, I think looking at heroes would be more helpful and will also help you keep developing your understanding of the game. for example, typically, a sombra isn't going to have the same kind of damage output as a soldier 76, but Sombra can do really EFFECTIVE damage by getting elims very quickly and Sombra also disables the enemy team's ability to do stuff. the numbers aren't going to show whether a Sombra on your team is doing that. if your supports' healing numbers are low, that doesn't necessarily mean you need to swap to a hero who's more independent. it could mean they're getting dove or their healing is being cut off somehow. like I said, I REALLY love what you're trying to use the stats for. I love it. but I think you have the analytical skill to start adding more nuance and work on understanding what's happening as it's happening, for lack of a better phrase. what I mean is that I think you'll be able to identify issues without the numbers with a little work and practice. that being said, deaths are still a good stat to pay attention to. if one person is dying substantially more than others, that can be a really important thing to pay attention to and figure out what you can do to help prevent that number from getting even higher lol sometimes there's nothing you can do but I do think deaths, relative to everyone else on the team and lobby, is a helpful stat to some degree.

i already know why dps were doing less than they could. bcs Kiriko was dpsing and dps were dying near her, you can't do dmg while you're dead. upd. As always both supps were pocketing tank instead of healing dps, but they also failed at that

This is also part of the balance problem for lower ranks, there shouldn't be the possibility for a support to farm those kind of stats. In higher rank play supports have to focus more on healing. Example, how often does Illari healing pylon get destroyed watching these creators play. In lower ranks she becomes a DPS with a healing bot, in higher rank, she has less healing value, forcing a different support.

blaming your tank for dying too much when it is directly the kiri's fault for letting the tank die in perfectly good positions/advantages over and over is hilarious... the tank over extended twice, maybe three times, and then there's almost 10 deaths that were totally preventable with better positioning or decisions from the kiri, which they often had tons of time to make...

damage is only as good as the kills you get with it. 7k damage and lets say 8 elims is awful. I'm a widow main in silver. The AMOUNT of times I have teammates that say "widow you need to do more damage" is actually stupid. I can have the most kills in the lobby or on my team with like 3k damage. Widow is great at making almost every team fight AT least a 5v4. I'm not amazing but it does get annoying when I get get 27 elims with 15 solo kills and 20 crit shots only for my team to rarely follow up and thats why I play quick playyyy. Not to burst my own bubble but I'd say I'm pretty good mechanically, but I probably dont have the best positioning on most heros.

This player is mechanically good for a bronze. But they were playing so safe they ended up just looking like a bot. And I dont say that to be mean, but put personality in your plays. Take risks, try different things. Understand the hero's full potential. Also, stop using suzu on your feet every time you're pressured. There were a couple times where this player suzu'd themself after losing like 25 hp. Has potential, not the worst, but definitely bronze for now.

I think these should be 2 minute segments, Emongg reads the description we watch the first 30s and then roast them, go next. Farming dmg onto a tank while hanzo is standing on top of a bus in LOS just raining arrows down onto your team. Support players when you ask them to support: *Gasp*
@Merui0216 ай бұрын
That does not help the player or the viewers though. I think a lot of people watch VOD reviews not (only) for the roasting but also because there is something to learn. Some people might be beginners or some may be on the same elo as the player reviewed. Or hey, I see some people even leave advice after watching and that is more helpful than just roasting them and telling them they are horrible. Emmong is also not the type to just go and roast someone then leave.
