Well done Ben. Mapp is my friend as well. You can warm things with propane, heating requires a bit more punch. Nicely played!

Propane would have got it, but the little propane torch is fiddly to light.... The big propane torches are not yet set up... But have huge bottles... Many thanks for watching!

....and off it comes, great stuff - mildly frustrating that you couldn't remove it with a puller due to the bolt in the centre, but hey ho, it's off now. That Mapp gas torch is still so good!!!!

MAP gas torches are handy for a bit of quick heat for sure. Many thanks for watching!

Well done Ben... another job ticked off the todo list and using some heat in the weather is always nice...

Not enough heat to make a difference though.... I am fitting a diesel heater at the moment.

The map gas is great stuff I use it all the time. It's good for getting bolts and nuts off. 👍👌

sometimes can be very tricky. Like the head on my Crossley. Its solid on the studes.

That's a problem. Have you tried knocking it on with a copper mallet?

Come on Ben , you used the Mapp gas to throw a few BTUs into your cold shed … :-)

A few. I am installing a diesel heater to throw lots of BTUs into my shed at the moment though! Mind you. I might strip it first. Many thanks for watching!

A Little bit of heat works wonders Ben. I remember when I was an apprentice we used to heat bearings up in oil to shrink fit them on to the shaft, nowdays they do it by induction heating. I have just brought a bernzomatic torch which I intend to use it with mapp gas. Do you leave you're torch attached to the cylinder or remove it when you have finished?
@BensWorkshop
@BensWorkshop Жыл бұрын
I remove it when finished so I can put it away in it's box. Haven't thought about taking it off to prevent gas leaking though. Many thanks for watching!

@Ben's Workshop mine is on the tank for the last 2 years, I don't use it much, and it leaked when I took it off, so.... I left it on. No leaks in 2 years

@@GuysPlayingWithTools at the other end of the usage spectrum I use mine so frequently I'd probably spill more taking it off than it'd ever leak. Use butane now because it seems to last twice as long.

@Turbo Conquering Mega Eagle working on little motors, it is one of those tools I need more and then but not real often. It always surprises me that the tank isn't empty after sitting so long

Boys-oh, that thing was really jammed on there. I'm always worried that hammering things off shafts will damage bearings; am I being too cautious there? Cheers Ben, stay warm mate!
@BensWorkshop
@BensWorkshop Жыл бұрын
Well, I'd have used a puller if I could have, so I wouldn't say you were being to cautious. Bearing damage could well be a possibility though I probably got a way with it here. Many thanks for watching!
