Phenomenal. I’ve been fortunate enough to have run into two old-timers of Jim’s ilk over the years on a couple of brookie ponds in the Adirondacks; they taught me a lot. Thanks for this video

I would love to talk with you and learn from a true ledgen when it comes to the brook trout . I'm 78 an will fish for them to my last days. I have to agree they are the most beautiful fish on this planet. I hope they'll be here for future generations to enjoy . I've been trying to get in touch with you with no success, Love hearing your great stories . Jim

This is a wonderful video about a classic ADK fly troller. Like Jim said, trolling flies used to be very common. Now I see wabblers being trolled more than flies by a mile. I troll two fly rods with flies exclusively but mostly with an electric motor on ponds where they are allowed. I've been trolling mostly streamers but I keep hearing of larger brook trout being caught on wet flies and nymphs, so I'm changing tactics and giving the wet flies and nymphs more time. What I'm dying to know is how Jim gets two fly lines out 90 feet while rowing, especially the level sinking lines which don't fly cast well. With fly reels you can't just open the bail and let the line flow out like you can with a spinning reel. Getting the fly lines out of the fly reels requires a manual effort with both hands. With my electric motor it is much easier as the motor keeps the Radisson moving while I'm using my hands paying out the fly lines. I will keep this video in my favorites.

Your question about how he gets two lines out while paddling is something I'm still trying to solve and I was there holding the camera. I didn't have any lines out and was having a hard time keeping up with him. I think God blows him around:) All the best, - Cody

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Abbott on the front porch of the Adirondack Hotel in Long Lake. He took the time to talk with me and share some pictures. How fortunate I was. In the video he tells the story of meeting Rodger Menard and not knowing he was special to the sport just another angler. I now have a story like that myself. I thought I was just meeting another angler who shared the passion but now I know I didn't just meet any angler I too met someone very special to the sport. Once again it was a great pleasure shaking your hand sir. INCREDIABLE FISH

This video is awesome, thanks for sharing! I was inspired by watching this, so I decided to give it a try on my spring trip up to the Adirondacks last week. A lot to learn still, but I did very well. Thanks Jim for sharing some of your knowledge, you are definitely an inspiration.

Jim's wearing MidWeight. I'm not sure if it is Stormy ... definitely the classic Stormy style. I think I remember Jim saying something about making the hat himself. -- Ralph
