just listened to the song this morning by accident and it touched my heart. I see all those people around me who are lonely, afraid and thirsting for justice. It gives me courage to tell them again and again that God's crying with them and will make them first one day.

I'm non-religious (against dogma of organised religion, but not against faith, though I myself don't believe in a God), and I still find this song and its message beautiful and powerful. Brooke Fraser is one of the best singers of our time, surely.

I've heard this song so many times, but today I listened to it with headphones for the first time, and when that final verse swelled up, it was an emotional and dare I say spiritual experience. Thanks to Brooke for making this beautiful song, and thanks for sharing it.

I don't know if anyone out there agrees with me, but one thing about this wonderful treasure called Brooke Fraser is bigger than just singing. Her intelligence, and beauty from the inside out is indescribable. I love you my friend, I hope our paths crossed someday. Peace, and grace from our savior and Lord Jesus Christ to you and you husband!!!!!

...But God will be right there with you. "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." Psalm 23:4. Sin is death, yet when we walk through a valley of death/sin, God is still there, all the more guiding us. Salvation cannot be lost.

Come, tell me your trouble I'm not your answer But I'm a listening ear Reality has left you reeling All facts and no feeling No faith and all fear I don't know why a good man will fall While a wicked one stands And our lives blow about Like flags on the land Who's at fault is not important Good intentions lie dormant And we're all to blame While apathy acts like an ally My enemy and I are one and the same I don't know why the innocents fall While the monsters still stand And our lives blow about Like flags on the land I don't know why our words are so proud Yet their promise so thin And our lives blow about Like flags in the wind You who mourn will be comforted You who hunger will hunger no more All the last shall be first Of this I am sure You who weep now will laugh again All you lonely be lonely no more Yes, the last will be first Of this I am sure I don't know why the innocents fall While the monsters stand I don't know why the little ones thirst But I know the last shall be first I know the last shall be first I know the last shall be first

Yes that is the beauty of the gospel. Yes we can turn our back on Him but he still chases us. If you hate Him, He will love you. If you turn your back, He will embrace you. If you run, He will wait for you. We are his beloved:) God bless you for speaking the truth.

I'm tired of these people talking about how Brooke "strayed away from God". If you listen to these lyrics, you'll find that they are uplifting and she does not bring shame to God's name in any way. In fact, she makes a few bible references in this song. You who hunger will hunger no more All the last shall be first Of this I am sure You who weep now will laugh again All you lonely, be lonely no more Yes, the last will be first Of this I'm sure In these lines, she's referring to how it will be when we get to heaven. She's comforting this "person" in her song with these promises that God gave us. You guys need to stop being so quick to judge. The bible does say be quick to listen and slow to speak. Come on now. You guys are supposed to be better than this.

Brooke's music is beyond anything I ever heard in contemporary Christian music. She's a true artist and a spiritual seeker. I can't believe people actually judge her for straying. The irony.

I agree. I was raised Catholic but haven't been to church in decades. I find God in most of Brooke's songs and would never consider her music to be anything but spiritual.

...Even Paul felt that he strayed from God. It happens to the best of us. "Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” Duet. 31:6...So God delivers me, and he never leaves me or forsakes me. Its not a good thing to take back a gift. Salvation is the ultimate gift, and my God is a giving God, willing to extend his love to anybody, not judge based on a temporary state. Its so easy to fall...

@lozzymagoo I'm not saying that you specifically have left Jesus, that was just more of a general statement. "And once a person belongs to Jesus, there is nothing that can change that, so there would be no fear of hell. " So you believe that we can't lose our salvation?

@lozzymagoo ...agreed...period. Instead of quoting scripture to others, why not show by example. Constantly repeating your own humilities to others is not what a brother in Christ is or does.
@matthewcyan13 жыл бұрын
@downtoawhisper Saying that our performance is what saves us is the same as saying both God's grace and Jesus' death are insufficient. The entire book you are quoting from is about the PERFECT work of Jesus and how we have ALL fallen short. By God's grace alone, @lozzymagoo was saved before the foundations of the earth and your words are the exact reason so many people lose faith and leave the church.
@liene9311 жыл бұрын
@Scarlet3Foxtrot No, if we turn our backs on him he still wants us and wants to know us because if we're faithless he still stays faithful. It's in 2 Timothy 2:13. Does the Bible really say that God doesn't want to know us after we've turned our backs on him? He didn't turn his back on us when the first man sinned, and he sent his Son while we yet were sinners.
@downtoawhisper13 жыл бұрын
@lozzymagoo "Once a person has accepted Jesus Christ as their savior, salvation cannot be lost." Actually people can backslide, which is very dangerous. Here is what the Scriptures say in regards to this issue Matthew 7:19 "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire." Revelations 2:5 "Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent."

We shouldn't see Scripture with negativity! The WORD helps us to know God more! May we yearn for him more!!! Of course, we need to be more like Jesus, but I don't understand why you dislike Scripture @lozzymagoo5 :( Hopefully, this verse doesn't make you resentful, but convicts your heart to seek Him. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:23

@lozzymagoo ...love the Lord our God with ALL of our mind, heart, soul and strength and love our neighbor as ourselves. We must be sure to take up our cross daily and follow Christ wherever He may lead us. We must be sure to not only refrain from sin ourselves, but teach others the way of the Lord...being fishers of men. Don't get me wrong...I wish that no one could lose their salvation, but the Scriptures are clear, and I don't argue with them. Please read more and find out for yourself.

For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them." This means that if someone gets saved and then backslides into their prior....

@lozzymagoo Jesus may not choose to leave us, but we can choose to leave Him. If we are living in disobedience to His commandments, then we are in danger of Hell. We must be sure to love Him with ALL of our mind, heart, soul and strength and to love our neighbor as ourselves. We must take every thought captive to the obedience of Jesus! Jesus said, "If you love me, you will keep My commandments." If you aren't keeping His commandments, you don't love Him...and He didn't leave you, you left Him.
@downtoawhisper13 жыл бұрын
@lozzymagoo ....life of sin...it would be better for them on their day of judgment for them to never have known the truth of Jesus in the first place. They will have a worse judgment in this case. My friend, it is very possible to lose our salvation. The Scriptures are very clear. 1 Peter 4:18 says, "And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?" The righteous are SCARCELY saved according to Scripture. This is why we must be so very careful to....
