I love the hairstyles of the women hanging out with Steve Martin in Dave's office! People love making fun of the fashions and hairstyles in the Eighties, but I thought they were fabulous! Dave was such a good host to watch on TV back then...so relaxed and witty with his guests.

Americans should be proud to have Brooke Shields. She certainly has elevated the image of the US with her breathtaking beauty and well mannered behavior.

Amazing how she said people used to show up at her dorm room door unannounced from all over the country. I'm around her age and back then there were no locks or security in dormitories. You could just stroll into any one you wanted whenever you felt like it. I have a couple kids in college now and when I tell them that they can't believe it. Shows how much our world has changed.

I went to college in the ‘90s at a small school in Sarasota. Ours was an open campus & we were fine. Gen X kids typically had two working parents & half the time they were divorced. We learned basic survival skills.

In 1984, $12 a week was a pretty decent allowance for a 19 year old, if your basic expenses were already covered. Hard to believe today!

Are you serious? I was in middle school in 1984. Twelve bucks would not get you very far.

This probably aired six months earlier and was a rebroadcast. I am a blue duck, is what Dave says in French. Odd she didn't catch any of that.

Wow! David Letterman did a lot on Late Night TV back in the day. Steve Martin really wanted to have a party. Also, $12 a week for Brooke Shields!? That's almost minimum wage now.
@GrahamCStrouse3 ай бұрын
The federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. The minimum wage in $3.35/hour. That’s per hour, not per week.

@@GrahamCStrouse Oh. Right. Well, at least everyone is making a lot more money now. Also, $12 a week still can't get you anywhere.
