"Outro: Tear" for the rapline live! Or the cypher medley from 2017. Love "Ugh" too! Ddaeng is amazing, but difficult to get the full greatness of the wordplay with explanation video. For RM I would probably show him "Joke" to flaunt of his speed and flow changes. For Yoongi I'd show either "AgustD" or maybe "First Love" or "The Last" to switch it up and show a different side. For J-hope I personally love "Boy Meets Evil".

"Daechwita" is not just a diss, it is so much deeper on psychological level and has so many historical references. Since you don't know his language and many things are lost in the translation i recommend you to check out explanation by Bookish theories to understand it. Agust D also explained this song - he said that king represents who he was and another name of king is anger. Black-haired guy represents who he is now. This song is about the conflict inside him and he talks about this subject in many songs

Why MONO, I mean Mono is categorized as HipHop but RM1 and Monster shows what he’s truly capable of in terms of actual rapping, like showing off his flow, cadence, and wordplay and what not, while Mono just shows his clever lyrical abilities and wordplay plus his underrated vocals, both mixtapes are drastically different and showcase different sides of him.
@aparna12242
@aparna12242 3 жыл бұрын
@@RM-of2oz Are you serious? Mono might be officially tagged under the "hip hop" genre but if you actually listened to it and his lyricism in it, there is no other work of his that shows his versatility and musicality. The entire "Mono" mixtape of his has sub genres ranging between a soft mix of electronic, indie, hip-hop and R&B. He is more than a rapper just hitting bars and using word play. His typical sound usually comprises of fast spitfire rapping and powerful attacks which is impressive. However, RM as a musician has also mastered the art of slowing it all way down and Mono stands as a proof of it. What he is "truly capable" of isn't just hard hitting rap alone, which is exactly what he wanted to show the world through Mono. He mentioned that in an interview that it was pure raw emotions and himself he poured into his mixtape.

Suga is especially vocal about people getting into illegal drugs to help inspire there art. His best friend begore BTS who was also a rapper and who dreamed about going to seoul and getting big in the rapscene together. Unfortuneately that griend got into drugs got caught went to jail and came out a few years later to immediately get back into drugs again and never connect again with Yoongi. Yoongi wrote a song about it on his latest mixtape and I believe his verse in springday is also about this friendship. It has deeply affected him.

Enjoyed hearing his thoughts!! And I appreciate the way you introduce everything to your guests. Just enough detail. He is SPOT ON with what ultimately makes something cultural appropriation. If you’re borrowing pieces of a culture, you have to show respect, which is often done through inclusion and/or outright education. Rap as a form of expression transcended its origin and became a genre of music, which is why [as your friend said] rappers and fans of rap are welcoming its adaption by others worldwide. As with other styles of music, emulating sounds of the past inherently shows appreciation and respect. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to make a reference, or discuss it in liner notes and interviews. Musical legends have borrowed from legends before them. It’s all love - just gotta be upfront if you’re questioned about it.

I love these videos where you introduce people who may not be familiar with BTS’s music and get their reaction to it. You are so great at selecting songs for them to listen to because you keep in mind that it’s their first time listening to the song or BTS. You’re ARMY so you know a lot of little details that any other fan would be bursting at the seams to share with the person, but you don’t overwhelm your guest and let them listen/take it in. And sure, after reading other people’s know-it-all comments in your comment sections, there are “other” songs for the guest could have listened to, but there will ALWAYS be “other” songs because while most songs are generally enjoyed, a song can hit different for different people. Can’t please everybody with what you choose to share with others. I think you’re doing a fantastic job, and I hope to see him again in another video one day!

@@BrookeMorrison 🥺 You know how much I adore you and your content! 💜 I didn’t mention this in my first comment, but I loved the last 3 minutes of the video where it was just the both of you reflecting on the impact and differences between appreciating something vs trying to take ownership over something. I love his comments how there’s nothing wrong with appreciating something but “cite your sources” if called out on what inspired the creation. It’s funny how some people who say they’re hip hop fans find it unbelievable that hip hop exists in other cultures across the world but your friend is aware not only of the influences hip hop took in to evolve from what it was 20-50 years ago to what it is today, and the influences hip hop can provide to other genres. You can tell he truly appreciates music and why it’s so great. I also sincerely appreciated his immediate self-recognition that all Asian cultures are not the same and he kept apologizing for any errant “cross referencing”. The fact that he can recognize that he was using different non-Korean references is more than 90% of the reactions who ignorantly associate the beautiful cinematography of Daechwita as “kung fu” or “Street Fighter” 🙄. This makes me like his reaction even more because it gives the feeling of sincerity vs clout seeking. There’s never any pressure that you have to like what you just listened to for the first time but you can always tell when someone is making up their reaction to avoid offending fans. I’m glad that he enjoyed his first time hearing the rap line, and I look forward to the next video!

In regards to the judgement, especially when it came to SUGA and RM, because they came from being pretty well known in the underground rap scene they were called sellouts and their accomplishments were diminished among their peers.

Also I love you but when you were talking about CNS cultural appropriation it would have helped to let him know that Hobi PAID $2.7 MILLION to Bianca Bonnie for the use of the song & made it very clear that this was homage to the original which meant a lot to him as a child. 💜💜💜

Please do the explanation video by DKDKTV as well along with the UGH song reaction please. It is needed for people to understand BTS's rapline songs.. That way you can focus more on the music side in the song reaction as well.

A-OH has such a wonderful view on Hip Hop culture. I remember a documentary on Netflix once mentioning that Kung Films are probably what birthed Hip-Hop because Kung Fu Films in the 70s had this cadence and rebellistic nature that impoverished discriminated black youths used to help them create and express themselves. And that's really what Rap and Hip Hop culture was about from the get go. The standing up against oppression and personal struggles, and putting it into spoken words. It's why a lot of folks liken Hip Hop to modern day Work Songs. It's a method of uplifting people, especially the originators in the black community, during moments of tribulation.

The song itself is a diss to not only haters but haters in the industry. That’s why he does a lot of comparisons basically saying that none of the haters who talk all that shit can even get a tiny little flame close to his level of talent and success. And a lot of analogies of popping pills and flexing is used bc rappers feel like they need to show off that kinda lifestyle to be respected but he doesn’t need to do that bc he knows his worth and isn’t corny enough to flex all his success through material things and drugs

Daechwita is not so much about the haters... It's more of a bragging song in which he says "I have succeeded, I am at the top, I don't need tricks to keep rising because my music is elite, but in this moment, I shall remind myself to keep my feet on the ground, to keep myself grounded, to remain humble, I shall remind myself of my priorities in life, that people are more important than money or reputation, now that I have power and influence, I have a responsibility to remember my roots and my story/what type of person I want to be." It's a song of Yoongi being self-aware of how his immense greed and ambition is a double-edge sword. Monster is also sort of a bragging song, but it comes from a moment of being hurt and angry, wanting to prove himself... Since it was written when they were younger and full of fire/in another stage of life. Chicken Noodle Soup is indeed a song to give homage to a dance that inspired Hobi to become a dancer/childhood nostalgia. My recommendations would have been: Moonochild, First Love and Daydream. Or maybe Hip Hop Phile.

Out of rapline I think RM is heavily inspired by old school HipHop the most and u can tell when u listen to his mixtapes(specifically RM1) and his collabs. In bts song HipHop lover he name drops a lot of late 70s, 80s and 90s rappers as well. Overall his biggest influencer is Nas and he has stated that Nas has had a big impact on his rapping.

How I see the end of Daechwita is that Yoongi (symbolized by the peasant Suga) is showing us that he will never allow himself to become like the rappers that had hated on him and BTS (symbolized as the King). This also links to the way that he states "That's your excuse for popping pills, cry me a river you just got no skills". To me, it shows how strong-minded Yoongi is about staying true to himself and not letting others change him or his beliefs.

I don’t know how many know this but he was showing his humbleness when playing the peasant while also playing the Mad King role. Normally you don’t see in general, rappers being down to earth humble. They can be very self-absorbed and too aggressive.

J-Hope isn't one of the dancers, he's the dance LEADER. He's responsible for the quality and perfection in all their dances. He came to BTS to dance, learned to rap, then learned to sing. For the rappers - follow up with a Cypher, Tear, even UGH. Something that shows the group!

I like the pt about how there is a lot of appreciation for Asian cinematics already and BTS fuses stuff so well. I think point about respect should be paid and building on what is acknowledged appropriately at that point are really good ones
