Jhope’s dancing is the main reason why I got into bts. I heard of bts but didn’t know anything about them. So when I saw their dancing at carpool karaoke, I figured Jhope was special. It wasn’t even a full out performance, literally just snuck into a Zumba class, but his movements are so effortless and really great to watch. I kept watching their performances still not knowing how to differentiate them, but my eyes keep gravitating towards him. He doesn’t need to do full on tricks to demand your attention. Though Jhope is a very talented person, in online debates I’ve seen, Taemin is known as one of the best dancers in kpop. By his pure technical skills, reference Move, which doesn’t seem hard but every dancer says it’s one of the hardest dances in kpop. Though I love Jhope the debate of who is the best dancers in kpop is very difficult to answer.
@KimKim-kp9rw3 жыл бұрын
@@木漏れ日-i3m I didn’t said he’s the best dancer, I said he’s the best performer…I heard that Jimin(bts), Kai(exo) and Taemin(shinee) are considering as the best dancers in this industry but what I just said was about performing and entertaining. I think Jhope is more entertaining to watch than other performers in Kpop and it’s just *my opinion* . Also dancing is an art and you can’t compare artworks cause they all have their own charms.
@jordanw43043 жыл бұрын
@@木漏れ日-i3m j-hope is also undoubtedly one of the best dancers in the industry, recognized by professional dancers and other idols. if you want to bring up online debates, k netizens have a term for his dancing that's used quite often, which literally means "beyond-idol class." I've even seen a professional dancer evaluate male k-solos' dancing and when it was j-hope's turn he started by saying the criteria he would be using are going to be different for him because he would be using the same criteria he would use to evaluate professional dancers, not idols because he considers him a professional dancer in terms of skills along with the fact that he can actually freestyle. And no, he's not one of those clout chasers. In fact he's been known to give honest opinions about bts that were not always positive. Having said that, like op has stated already, this is about who is the best "performer." And the answer to that is even clearer than the best dancer question.

The Jung Hoseok is unmatched. Thank you for this, finally some legit analyzation and appreciation of pure dancing skills and not just some that come from a fanboy or fangirl. Thank you, Clay and Grace, for your insight and expertise on what distinguishes j-hope’ as a dancer and performer! Everything you highlighted touches on those core elements necessary for dance: space, timing, weight, energy and body. What’s amazing to me as a dancer is seeing how j-hope fuses all of these elements simultaneously to consistently present a complete, nuanced 360 performance. The completion of his lines, the textural quality of his movement (that changes within seconds), the rhythmic musicality and timing of his steps and gestures, the alignment and coordination of his hips to his chest to his shoulders, his astonishing turnout…there almost too much to be said about the consistency and beauty of his technique. You both pointing out all of his dancer “smarts” like placement, outfit, breathing, just reinforces and reconfirms why j-hope is truly top tier among current dance artists. You reviewed so many of j-hope’s best of dance clips - it would be great if you had a follow up reaction to some more recent focus cams (MMA2020 Dynamite Dance Break, KBS 2020 stage of I Need You, 200428 YT video of his Hope On The"Street in the studio, 2019 performance of Let Go) where j-hope again displays the versatility and refinement of his dance technique. Technically he is one of the best male dancers in kpop. I never see him overdancing and he’s so good at isolations, popping and overall control of his body that he can switch and do different styles of dance like what he did in Black Swan. Jhope is definitely one of the people that I look up to

What I love about this video is that they're not just watching fancams where you can only focus on an specific person, but videos where they can see every member. That tells how much j-hope stands out, cause they noticed how he's the only one that adds some detailed moves (shoulder work for example) that makes him so eye catching. I love that talented dancers react to j-hope, the best dancer of the K-pop industry.

J-hope is such an amazing dancer the best dancer in BTS imo, he got assigned 2 roles (main dancer and dance leader) cause he’s not only good but he learns fast and helps with the choreographies. Really his style is so versatile and i was shocked when i saw him during the MMA 2019 dynamite dance break doing this jazzy style. He’s also good at freestyling which is rare in the kpop industry (I’ve never seen yet another kpop idol who can freestyle except hobi) for real, he’s also really flexible so he nailed the black swan choreo which was classical/ballet type. I think his strength is that he keeps learning even tho he’s already great but he still humbles himself e everyday and doing his best to do better so he practices a lot. When it comes to dance, he doesn’t really have a weakness and I remember one of his childhood friends saying in an interview that hoseok would always practice even tho he was the best. He won a national dance competition back in 2008 without being famous or a member of BTS. Just him jung hoseok and his talent. This man is just not like other kpop dancers .

His stage presence is out of this world, and he has an innate talent that is rare. His love for dance shines through in a way that is very eye-catching and impossible to miss. Not to mention his absolute bonkers control of every part of his body, plus his long limbs make his dance moves look even better. His expressions are really underrated tbh; he is always on point. The way he can even express himself through his hands/fingers so easily is wild. His ability to move those shoulders and hips without being stiff whatsoever is impressive. He's just one of a kind. While everything Clay and Grace said in their commentary has so much applicability for dancers, I think the one that resonates the most is how important and meaningful continued growth is for dancers. No dancer truly ever believes he or she has hit the apex of their dance journey, because those who live and breath dance understand that dancing is a never ending and continual process. There is always more to learn and experiment with and improve upon. Even a dancer of j-hope's exceptional caliber has clearly and noticeably improved in his technique, stamina, coordination and musicality (a good example is comparing his physiology and movement in I Need U from 2015 to 2020.) Thank you for pointing out this truism in dance, Clay and Grace, and how the striving for advancement in dance is embodied in all the members, and especially j-hope.

This may sound like a strange comparison, but j-hope has always reminded me of Fred Astaire. Obviously, Fred danced a different style, but the amount of control, technical mastery, grace and elegance when needed, down and dirty when needed and knowing when each is needed, the understanding of not just dance in terms of movement but in terms of how it looked on stage, on camera, what worked, what didn't, the stage and performance knowledge and ability, the way they both never waste any movement - the understanding of stillness within the movement, of the fast-slow-high-low as you said, the sheer perfectionism and commitment to dance and performing, understanding dance in its totality - j-hope has all these just as Fred did and like Fred is a true master dancer. I would love to see you analyse his Hope On the Street/freestyling vids. I really appreciated this video, to see people who actually know what they are talking about and who are able to maintain objectivity, hugely appreciated, thank you.
