This guy is so inspiring! I am a guy that recently discovered knitting while dealing with health issues that left me housebound for a while and I think I finally found my passion. I get strange reactions from people when they see me or hear that I knit but it’s something I love and I’m not going to let stigma and stereotypes get in the way of what I love to do. It sometimes feels lonely being a male knitter but this guy inspires me to stop caring about what others think and just do what I love. Now back to my knitting!

Reminds me when I used to crochet on the subway and the buses in and around Philadelphia back in the 70's...to the 2000's. The only difference was I always crocheted at the end of the subway cars...and kept my headphones on,, , didn't want to be disturbed, had to make the best use of my time

You're right. Knitting is simply the vehicle to fulfill your purpose. I think we each have the same general purpose, to lift each other up, to inspire, to be true to ourselves, and do it unapologetically.

As a true blue Aussie bloke knitting is certainly not the norm but I really enjoy it. I have a very high stress corporate job and knitting helps me de-stress. I am also terrible at sitting still for too long, like watching a movie without resorting to doing somethings else to keep my brain active so knitting has been a way of relaxing without feeling like I am doing nothing. I haven't taken the plunge to knitt in public yet lol but you are inspiring me to do so. Thanks for sharing brother, keep knitting.

I’m slowly learning to love knitting in public. I used to leave the yarn at home due to anxiety over what others think but during a recent health scare I realized that life is too short to let strangers dictate when and where I can enjoy my passion.

So happy to see men knitters getting more attention. Recently my 12-yr old son has asked me to teach him after hearing that George Lucas was a knitter. The more guys we see out there the better. I can't wait to show him this video. He's gonna' love it. Could you perhaps do a piece on male knitters (possibly including celebrities) and how this affects you and how you feel being aware of them might influence younger knitters who are just starting out or those who might be interested?

Knitting and Crochet Relieve Depression. Depression relief is by far the most reported and studied benefit of crochet and knitting. The repetition of the crafts has been shown to release serotonin, a natural anti-depressant.
