Nice tour. Your guide mentioned part time and night school options. All law students have the same stringent requirements and demands for study. It is not a matter of the grading.

I don't know the intricacies of the curve at Brooklyn, but he was referring to the curve, not the rigors of law school. For example, the curve for seminars is different than the curve for BLL courses, therefore, it is easier to get a better grade in a seminar. - Sam

What kind of law is he studying?

I believe he's starting his career in general corporate at a big law firm, but there aren't any specific areas of focus for law students. After 1L. you can take whatever classes you want.
