I remember the 1st. time I was invited to my friend Sophia's house for Sunday dinner, I was 9. One of her brothers was gonna dip a piece of bread into the pot but their Mom said no, him being the wanna be tough guy/ show off did any ways while he mumbled "Stunod" LOL, I didn't even see that spoon swing but it knocked/ flung him to the floor and gave him an instant welt! once all 6 of her boys was of age, they all went & had that spoon tattooed where it always marked them, It still makes me laugh!

I could just cry, happy tears! ❤ I got the absolute best compliment from my husband after he tried and ate this dish today. ❤ He has been wanting to go to an Italian restaurant we discovered about 8 months ago so that he could eat their spaghetti and meatballs again. He said they taste exactly like that restaurant's recipe. He could not describe it, but now I know what it tasted like. This is our new go-to spaghetti and meatballs recipe. I'm going to pass it down to my daughter in her recipe scrapbook that I am making for her wedding gift. This recipe makes a lot. I am definitely going to have to invite family the next time I make it. The garlic knots went great with it as well! 😊 Thanks again guys! I know your sweet mama would be proud of you both. ❤

Hi guys, just wanted to say I love love love your channel! I am married to a retired Italian chef/restaurant owner and he loves your channel as well. I’m really sorry to hear about your mother. She was a lot like my Joe’s mother 4 foot nothing but a spitfire. God rest their sweet souls Joe’s restaurant was in Boone North Carolina and we now live on the Gulf of Mexico in Panama City Beach Florida. As I said, he’s retired from being a chef in a restaurant owner now but we both enjoy your show very very much. Please keep the videos coming it’s fun too watch and listen to Joe go oh I used to do it that way or I never thought about doing it that wayor something like that it’s just fine. We have so much fun watching you guys. Thanks again.

Them wooden spoons are no joke! Parents remodeled their house while i was in basic training. Turned a 4brm into a 3 with a second bath. To my surprise I came home on leave and was greeted by a coffee table full of weapons of past ass beatings..to include no less than a dozen belts, switches and at least 10 wooden spoons all conveniently laid out side by side on the table for my viewing pleasure! As a boy i peeled some cowboy & indian wallpaper back on my bedroom wall & hid the items in a wall cavity only to be found by remodelers 15yrs later!! 😅 memories

Looks great and similar to how we do meatballs in sauce. I know I'm repeating myself, but my Ukrainian mother learned Italian from our neighbor mrs. Mikalino, also an immigrant I believe from Sicily, and that's how they did it. God that looks wonderful, too late in the day to start making meatballs....but they'd be ready by 1am..always tomorrow.

Guys, this was so delightfully easy and the family response was so good, I can’t tell you how happy it made me! Thanks, I have quite a bit of pasta left and maybe five meatballs. I doubled the meatballs and froze some, I’ll make a version of the spaghetti pie for dinner one night this week. Thanks, everyone was SOOO happy! Be well,

Great videos. My wife always says, are you watching those two brothers again? I know you say your recipes are Italian American, but I was born in Italy, moved to the US in 1971, and my mother cooked most of these recipes, so it's more authentic than people think. Raw meatballs in the sauce, people think I'm crazy, but that's how I learned. The pasta companies need to have serving sizes on the box for Italians and non-Italians.

You guys cook EXACTLY like me, right down to the ingredients. We got the big cans of Cento San Marzanos up here, if I don't make my pasta I always spring for the De Cecco ..... 3rd generation Italian here. I’ve seen some things done here that are foreign to me. Not that it’s wrong. Just a different approach. I’ve never seen the basil throw in the base for the sauce. I’ve always noted the basil being introduced at the end prior to the sauce being served. And I’ve never seen raw meatballs added to the sauce. They’re generally baked in an oven, or as I do it, fried on the stove to brown them. I guess it works for you. Must make a more tender meatball

I was taught to fry the meatballs and sausage before adding to the sauce. When finished frying the meat, you scrape the browned bits and add them to the sauce. They dissolve as it simmers for hours, flavoring the sauce.

You guys are funny great job .For those people who are not familiar with our culture I'm glad you mentioned the different techniques in which the meat balls can be cooked .Fried,oven baked or directly in the sauce people should try all the different ways all are great .Note I always add fresh herbs at the end and never add pepper directly to hot oil only salt to sweat the onions and other spices once the tomatoes are added and I didn't see you guys add oregano try it next time it brings the flavor to another level .Bon Appétit men .

Question for you. Whey, whenever you use ground beef, you always stress that you use the 80/20 meat? Why don’t you use one of the leaner packages? Is it just your preference or is there another reason?
@BrooklynBrothersCooking7 ай бұрын
We find that the 80/20 yields the just enough grease to flavor your recipe without it being too much on the oily side. Perfect for burgers also.

Thanks for the clarification. 👍

Thanks for this recipe. Made it once already and it was a hit. Love the part about the wooden spoon. Mothers up here in Canada use the same method 😂😂😂. I personally bought shares in the wooden spoon industry. Mom kept breaking them on my butt 😂. Just joking but the spoon has touched my tush once or twice but I deserved it…. Thanks guys

So once you add the meatballs you continue cooking for 30 minutes and done? I’ve made the exact same recipe (sauce and meatballs), which I got from my Italian Brooklyn-born and raised mom, who got it from her Italian mom from Bari, Italy. We have always cooked it for 2 hours AFTER adding the meatballs. The additional time gives more substance and flavor to the sauce and the meatballs are soft and juicy - you barely have to touch them with a fork to cut them.
@BrooklynBrothersCooking10 ай бұрын
Yes, exactly. This is not cooked low an slow. Medium high heat for 30 minutes after you add the meatballs.

Do you worry about the seeds in the tomatooes adding a bitterness to the sauce?
