Brooks Glycerin 21: The Best Worst Shoe?

Your description of the foam is exactly how I feel towards the ghost 15… the 16 however had a bit more life too it 👌 but neither were the most responsive… comfort levels though were brilliant

Yeah, tbh I think I should have gone with the Ghost! Like I said, this model is probably not the right one for me. I'm too light to do much compression to this foam.

I use the Brooks Glycerin 21 as my easy day , recovery shoe at the moment (replaced the NB 1080 v13) , it does the job , it is more comfortable and a little less poppy but for me running at 8:40 -10:00 minute miles it is fine.. and the grip is ok . (I am 88kg)

@@JohnBirtchetSharpe Great to hear. Yeah, I felt like this shoe is a really solid workhorse Daily Trainer. It' s totally locked into Easy/Recovery Pace as you say, and I really couldn't find anything to objectively criticize about it. Grip was a bit hard to judge for me of course, running on this perfectly flat and dry tarmac. But felt like nice, sticky rubber and good traction pattern.

Looks half decent for towpaths. I was led to believe, perhaps mistankely, by one KZbin channel that Brooks shoes were terrible just over a year ago but are now wonderful. Seems that might apply more to the Max ones which I never quite understood how they can use the name of a shoe like this Glycerin and come up with a completely different shoe with the same basic name. Mind you Kinvara and Kinvara Pro springs to mind.

Haha, I really didn' t feel like I had to include a disclosure that I paid for these with my own money and don' t have a Run Club sponsored by Brooks! Yeah, the lineup is a bit confusing now from the outside, right? Not only the same model name for completely different 'Max' Shoes but also the Ghost Max 2 and Glycerin Max doing basically the same thing as Max Cushioned Plodders. Need to watch your Shoeoff later when I have time. I know we're one of the very few people who kind of liked the Turbo Next Nature.

@@robin29991 I think you need to include a standard disclaimer where you don't actually say if you paid for the shoes or not but tell the viewers assume you did :) To me, in a way, the faster I go the less effective cushioning I need and these days even the "low to the ground" ones seem to have enough. "Max" cushioning shoes for me tend to be also "max" weight and then feel clumpy. It is largely a genre of shoes I tend to avoid. Even the Invincible I now rarely use although have to admit it is perhaps the one shoe I would reach for when really my legs are so sore I should really have a day off even if not actually injured.

I don' t actually have any Max Cushion Shoes in my arsenal at all at the moment. The last one I had was the Nimbus 26 which I thought was pretty bad. So heavy and soft, it almost felt like it was working against me. But yeah, I do think they can serve a purpose as you say when you're really in 100% Plodder Mode. Part of the intrigue with the Glycerin Max for me is really just to see what it' s like because it' s a good bit more shoe than the Nimbus...​@@TimGrose
