Just an amazing video here!! 🤟😁🤟 (thanks, Breshman - rest in peace)!Brooks IS phenomenal! With that said, Buster WAS phenomenal (rest in peace, B.B.!!) & Richard Smith IS phenomenal too!! Don't think B.B.was downing Richard as much as bragging on Brooks... they are my two ABSOLUTE favorite guitar players - they both play fingerstyle, with nails, & with HEAVY Reed influences. J.R. was, in my honest & humble opinion THE MOST NATURALLY TALENTED MAN to ever touch a guitar. Period. (& rest in peace, J.R.!) I sure love the few videos with Brooks AND Richard tearing it up together - that much fingerpickin' talent in one place should be ILLEGAL, Hoss!!!! 🤣

id have to disagree about the richard smith statement, richard smith can alternate pick like a beast and does and can level most gypsy jazz players

Both Smith and Robertson are fantastic.

For me a big reason to go to CAAS was to hear Buster & Brooks. We're all going to miss Buster and are thankful that he could help Brooks get going. The best praise was probably the Lenny reference. If Brooks can run through Classical, Jazz, and Fingerstyle I'd love to hear that. I have seen Richard Smith swap those guitar genres very authoritatively like so many discarded socks. The more people can do that- the happier my ears will be! Keep 'em flying Brooks- more please!

I was just cleaning out some piles of paper in my computer room and came across a pad of paper with two autographs: Brooksie Robertson and Buster B. Jones. From the Nashville Sheraton back in 2003. I was there for a Sunday meeting with my door-to-door summer internship book selling job (Varsity Internship Program) and during a break, I saw this young kid sitting in a chair/small sofa in a lounge area outside the conference rooms, absolutely lighting up a guitar, with Buster by his side. I had no earthly idea who either of them were, but I walked up to them and asked who they were, figuring they had to be Somebody, the way the kid was playing. Don't remember all the details at this point, but Buster signed first (probably b/c Brooksie quietly and humbly made a deal of Buster [vague recollection of that happening]) and then Buster mentioned that I should get the kid's autograph, too, b/c he was gonna be a star (or something to that effect), so I got his too, and one of them wrote down his age - 13.

Brooks is cool. Gave a workshop at Boulevard Music (Culver City, CA) today and laid it out for all to see. At 22 he's well on his way to the top.

R.I.P. Buster. Just watched a lesson VHS tape of his I have had for years. He sure looks poorly in this clip. Very sad ending to an amazing guy. Makes me keep an eye on my demons.

Brooks makes me reconsider how I learned my mistakes esp. when I picked up the guitar! But I still play half the battle is getting some music out of the damn guitar.

So ironic to see him talking about alcohol. How much did it affect his playing. If it’s necessary I’ll never be any good

It didn't help his playing..

That was a very strange way to present that video in my opinion. Buster was a hell of a player though and that was some great playing throughout the whole video. Format reminded me of something akin to a Tim and Eric sketch haha.

Can't agree with that statement Buster...Richard Smith is way better and more versatile than that
