This fall, Universal Pictures proudly presents the first romantic comedy from a major studio about two gay men maybe, possibly, probably, stumbling towards love. Maybe. They're both very busy.

I don't understand why so many bad comments. The movie is a romantic comedy and it is entertaining. It portrays the gay community credibly. By community I mean the gay community, that is, the mass of gay people hanging out, not individuals. I liked this movie. The problem is the target group probably. Very few gay and straight people will watch it, and it won't be a hit. They will ignore it. Very bad and long trailer.

I totally agree with You. A comedy is always about chlichés and playing with them but every cliché has its true core and makes people vulnerable and likeable. I come from a Western European country and watched it together with about 200 other people in the theater and we laughed a lot and at the end my partner cried a little bit because the ending was quite touching but without the hetero schmaltz of ordinary rom coms. I am quite sure Eichner not really wanted the movie to be liked by the majority and we should stop striving for everyone to like us. in some way it was a good slap in the face.

I just read the story on Tmz about how disappointed Billy is regarding the low ticket sales and blaming straight folks. To try to bully & shame people by saying if you're not a homophobic weirdo, go see the movie. Why does it always have to be reduced to that? I am pretty certain that those that chose to go see the movie weren't just gay folks. Knock it off. I'm sure there was a host of reasons why folks didn't show up, for example, FINANCES! Gas is damned there 10 bucks per gallon, food prices are almost criminal. Not to mention, it's not safe in the streets & people are acting a freakin fool. It's cheaper & safer to stay home. On top of that, not everyone is into romantic comedies (gay or straight). I for one am not....Sci-fi included. Finally, the movie made 4.8 million thus far being released nationwide. There are almost 40 million people living in California alone (where I reside)....so that tells me straight people weren't the only ones that did not or could not see the movie. It's obvious Billy ignored that fact.

“Gay romcom” is just too much of a turnoff to be a success in regular theaters. Straight men go to romcoms because their girlfriends or wives (generally the former) drag them to them, gays go to gay movies, usually begrudgingly because (with a few exceptions) they’re usually lousy, and NO ONE goes to gay rom coms.
