I had the 21 TRD PRO Taco the transmission and gearing drove me nuts as a daily driver and I sold it. The ergonomics of the Taco cab was an issue I had to buy seat jackers. If the Nissan has a better tranny and ergonomics it beats the Taco already. Oh and the Taco still has drum brakes which were crap. My favorite truck so far has been the Honda Ridgeline it is just to good. I will wait to see what the new 23 TAco brings.
@BrosFOURRSpeed2 жыл бұрын
Honestly my 2017 wasn't too bad stock, but after the regear it's been incredibly smooth and a great daily! Haven't had any issues with the seat in mine. But I agree that the tranny is much better in the Frontier, I like that it has more gears! The drums don't both me, they are better for offroading and easier to keep clean and less damage which is why they still use them. It's not a full size to be needing them to stop from towing heavy loads often. The Ridgeline is a neat truck, haven't had much time around those.

The only complaint I have with the frontier is turning radius, other than that, I’m all in on the Nissan. The Dana 9 speed transmission was the deal breaker for me. These two trucks dominate the midsize market, imo. Is the the 3.8 In the Nissan the same engine as the GT-R, without the turbo/supporting mods?

Being lifted wasn't apart of the test lol, I own the tacoma yes, and this is the only way for us to do the comparison. We did not favor the Tacoma in this video, so I wasn't being biased by any means. Just showing the practicality of the two midsize trucks. No where did I say the lift made it better, but a lift on the Frontier would help and tires if you were taking it offroad. As you could see in the video, the all terrain tires on both trucks did well for the purpose and test of this practicality test, thanks for watching..

It’s crazy to see how tight the turning is! Definitely not as good as the Tacoma.
@mion19812 жыл бұрын
In terms of quality, the tacoma is better than the Nissan. The Nissan has more power and torque than the Tacoma. I got the Tundra TRD Pro because I just couldn't stand the power of the Tacoma especially the TRD Pro version since I owned a 2016 Frontier Pro4x. Both are great trucks. Since the Nissan has a new engine and tranny, you will have to wait a few more years to see the reliability of it. I have to trade my Tundra for either one of these, but today's market with all these mark ups are insane. They should put the new Tundra engine in the Tacoma since they are the same engine, but the Tundra has the twin turbos.
@BrosFOURRSpeed2 жыл бұрын
You make some great points with both of these trucks! I honestly don't mind the power the tacoma has, it's plenty for the driving I do with it, but I could see it being bumped up some to at least compete with the Frontier! Would have been nice to see how close he was in the frontier to the house on the first turn of it. But in all practicality they would have taken the same amount of turns. He was about to back the Tacoma up cause he thought he was to close to the house until you told him he was good. Most the time you wont have anyone helping you so most people out of safety will back up a little and complete the turn. Having a camera in the front would change that though.

The frontier does not have the articulation of the Tacoma for offroading. This has been tested. Also nissan carried over the offroad tech from the 2021 truck. So it lacks any offroad goodies that all other trucks have. The ABLS in the nissan is not enough, it severely needs a terrain mode to keep up with today's top offroaders.

@@BrosFOURRSpeed dont forget also that the new frontier is heavy compared to the outgoing model and to the tacoma. Acceleration tests show that at wot, its not any faster than the tacoma.
