It's a shame you don't make more robust bread slicers based on this one. By bread slicers, I mean usable without the slicing carriage. Because your better models all have the vertical side going below the horizontal one, which creates a gap when we increase the slicing width. The button would also be better if it was just a push (with auto release) button.

ritter also has a foldable food slicer with a full metal construction in its product range, the food slicer icaro 7. All our food slicers can also be used without the carriage and supply table if the size and shape of the food does not permit their use. To cut large foods, remove the carriage and supply table. For proper use, please refer to the operating instructions manual supplied with the appliance. The gap is required by the food slicer’s construction and design and has no influence on the slicing result. Please note that there is a choice of two operating modes for this appliance. The operating modes are described in more detail in the operating instructions manual enclosed with the food slicer. There are two operating modes to choose from. For intermittent operation, press the switch and push it to the resistance. The circular blade runs as long as the switch remains pressed in this position. For continuous operation, press the switch and push it past the resistance until it engages. The circular blade runs in this mode without the switch being held down until you slide the switch back to the "0" position.

@@ritterwerk Thank you for the reply! Indeed that gap is required by the current design made for use with carriage, I just wish you would sell at least one robust model without that gap. Not everybody uses the carriage, I've read reviews of people just putting it away to begin with. The problem of that gap is that food could get stuck there. About the switch, I'm well aware of the two operating modes, but for slicing bread a simple big push button is enough and better. All our very old Krups slicers have one and other manufacturers also have that. The one from this Markant 05 model (and the E 18) is actually great because it combines the simple push mecanism with a push forward to lock function. It's not visible in the video but we can see it it in the one called "Ломтерезка Ritter Markant05". If the button had a little harder resistance to pushing forward (in the continuous mode), it would probably be a perfect combination. So to sum it: I wish you would make one model designed as an ergonomic durable as silent as possible easy to clean carriage-less bread slicer.

@@unnainconnu9098 We would like to thank you for your honest feedback. We take customer feedback very seriously and always try to improve in response. We regret that you seem to have a somewhat negative impression of ritterwerk. It is very important to us to act in the best interests of our customers, and we attach great importance to the durability of our products and the satisfaction of our customers. Unfortunately, however, it is not possible for us to design a device according to your wishes, as this would simply not comply with the safety regulations that are mandatory for these appliances. Our foldable food slicers and also the food slicers with a straight carriage way do not have this gap, which is necessary for the design as well as the construction. Only our inclined food slicers that are part of the premium range have this gap. All ritter food slicers meet the necessary safety regulations for small electrical appliances and also the EU standards for food slicers. The VDE confirms this with its VDE/GS mark. The carriage is only one of the several requirements for meeting the safety regulations and EU standards. So all in all, it is for your own safety (so that you cannot injure yourself) during the slicing process. A food slicer wholly without a carriage would therefore not be safe and would not receive the corresponding test marks. As mentioned before, both the carriage and the left-over holder can be removed, but only if the size and shape of the food does not permit their use. ritterwerk also offers appliances with a safety continuous and intermittent operation switch. To select the operating modes, the switch only has to be pressed and not pushed. We hope that we have been able to help you with this.

@@ritterwerk You're welcome, I didn't expect to receive a reply, especially that fast. You're mistaken, I have a rather positive impression of ritterwerk, I've actually ordered a markant 01 earlier today. I think that if the slicer had a narrower carriage, the vertical side that sets the slice thickness could be above the horizontal part and so there wouldn't be any gap. The mandatory (plastic, to be inexpensive) carriage could then be guided by the external edge of the horizontal part (like on the markant 01 and 05). The icaro 7 indeed doesn't have that gap (and its carriage is narrower to let the slice thickness vertical side come towards it). Unfortunately its price is too high, probably because of the foldable design and the metal carriage, neither of which we need. A sturdier non folding design like the compact 1 would actually be more desirable to us. About the compact 1, despite its straight carriage way, it still has that gap (because the slice thickness vertical side isn't above the carriage way so it goes way from it when we increase the thickness). A perfect combination of your products for us would be: - the stainless steel carriage way surface of the solida 4 - the low thickness carriage way of the markant 01 - the press / press and slide switch of the markant 01 (with maybe more resistance to the slide motion) - the motor with a brown gear of the solida 4 (if it's sturdier/quieter) or even the DC motor of the serano 5 (but without the idler gear to be quieter) By the way, it's surprising that the models with a DC motor still have an idler gear instead of driving directly the blade gear. I suspect that's why they're louder than the Graef ones with direct drive.
