Well, my good man, I respectfully disagree with you on Brother Bear 1 being forgettable. I remember the first time I saw it as a bright-eyed, busy tailed young man... and yes, I did watch Rutt and Tuke's commentary on the thing and I found that pretty funny, actually. I was _disappointed_ when their commentary wasn't on the sequel. Hell, the scenes that had me on edge was the unwilling "Kenai vs. Denahi" battles... but, I always thought, _Does Denahi ever find it a little odd that Kenai wasn't tearing him to shreds during those fights?_ That, and Sitka... what happened to poor Sitka would've never happened if Kenai had thought to tie the basket... I saw that look on Sitka's face that said, "I'm sorry, my brothers, but this is the only way I can save you... please don't take revenge on the bear." And lo and behold, Kenai takes revenge on that monster--- sorry, bear. I can see why Sitka was so disappointed in Kenai when he killed Koda's mother. But, I won't contest your opinion with mine, Raisor. Sorry if that was longer than need be.

I’m just so sick about the Disney romance plots as it’s the only thing Disney has with a handful of exceptions. They finally have a movie that doesn’t focus on romance and then they decide to ruin it with a sequel. It’s called BROTHER Bear not Horny bear.

To be honest as much as I really like the first brother bear movie, I agree with you about the Phil Collins song playing over Kenai telling Koda what happened to his mother and they should have kept the other version of the scene where they played the song afterwards.

Honestly the only thing that pissed me off about this film was when Nita decided to become a bear. Yes I get it she loved kenei, but wtf? What if she ends up not liking him after being with him for a while? Well now she fucked up, she turned herself into a bear. Which 1. Would be hard for her to adjust to in her new life & 2. Here own people would probably hunt her down or other tribes who hunt big game. What I feel like would have made a little more sense is When Koda asked the spirits to turn his brother Kenei back into a human why didn’t they just do that? Like his bear Body looked like it was dying so perfect moment to make him human again. And then to not leave Koda out of Kenei’s life & Turn Koda into a human being so he could still be with Kenei and his new wife Nita, and live together in the Tribe. Idk that’s just me I would have changed the ending personally.
@TMoneySartwell2 жыл бұрын
Completely agree. Would have been better if they all ended up human.
@bluespectrum13482 жыл бұрын
yes. YES! Why does Nita have to give up on everything about herself in order to be with Kenai? Dude just turn into a man and ask the spirits to allow you to understand koda? Was that so difficult? Nita turning into a god damn bear (she didn't even had the chance to learn the bear ways, like Kenai did) was literally the most unfair outcome. Uhh. Hated that.
@MatthaisUnidostres Жыл бұрын
No, Koda shouldn't be a human. That would be weird. I think just making Koda a talking bear would make more sense. We all love talking animal sidekicks. It would probably spawn an animated series.

@@MatthaisUnidostreseither that or have it to where since Koda wanted Kenai to be happy turn Kenai back to human to be with Nita, and give them the ability to understand Koda, and since the Village accepts bears what's stopping human Kenai from hanging out with Koda everyday or Koda just live at the Village since they accept bears anyways. @lucasmckenzie85254 жыл бұрын
What I didn't like about the first movie was that Disney didn't do a good enough job showing an animal's perspective of things. In the first half they invested so much time into making the human culture as believable and authentic as possible, down to their traditions and interactions with each other. I was really invested in the human world of Brother Bear. When Kenai was transformed, the animal characters should have felt just as realistic, dignified and well researched as the humans, but they all just felt like caricatures of their species with no real depth. The moose, a few of the bears at the salmon run scene (with some more cartoony designs) and the animals featured when Kenai wakes up were all very exaggerated and never seemed to have anything useful to say. It's like we went from watching something really beautiful to watching Madagascar all because Disney couldn't resist playing on the "wacky talking animals!" cliche. Overall, if the animal characters were more down to earth and felt like actual characters, I wouldn't have liked this film better. Sorry for rambling. XD

Imo Brother Bear is one of the most underrated movies, in line with Atlantis, Treasure Planet and even Princess and the Frog imo doesn’t get enough love. Legit 2 of the most awful and downright stupid movies came from this era, Chicken Little and Home on the Range. I think Brother Bear would’ve been a lot better if it had more of a feel like Pocahontas or Spirit where they had a more dignified tone. Legit the moose characters were so annoying half the time, and some of the bears were too.

@@EmikaSandra well, I feel like the moose dudes were more like Elliot and Boog from Open Season tbh. Koda can be a bit annoying, but that’s the entire point of his character as he’s just a cub with a big imagination. I just felt characters like some of the bears were a little cheesy too, like the overly affectionate couple that needs to get a room, or the whole “stop telling people I’m dead woman!” joke. The sequel multiplied the dork/dumb humor by 10, especially because it heavily focused on the moose dudes getting laid instead of the story between Nita and Kenai, especially if they’re supposed to have reawakened feelings for each other.

The sequel, on the other hand… Even by the (actually higher than given credit for) standards of DisneyToon Studios, let’s just say that with all the bad things RaisorBlade point out about BB2, it’s barely bearable. Sure, at the verdict section, despite all his complaints, he did state that this is one of the better Disney sequels, but considering how many good DisneyToon films exist, while this isn’t one of their worst films (probably because you don’t need nostalgia goggles to realize the animation is great like in BB1), it’s still a DTS film done wrong, especially disregarding the presentation that has more thought out into it than the movie itself.

Woah hey, brother bear is actually amazing. It’s heartfelt, real (emotionally with the brother and emotions) and emotional for the watchers. I have loved this movie for forever. The MUSIC was absolutely not bland. Phil Collins’ music is always amazing and tell everybody I’m on my way is one of my favorite. Brother bear is amazing. Now, you said it’s FORGETTABLE. Helllll nah. Ever since my first time watching it, I at LEAST get a scene from the movie in my head randomly at least 5 times a year, and I don’t watch it that often. I’ve probably only watched it 5 times over the course of 10 years. But it is NEVER forgettable. The scene when he’s changing into the bear is top tier and powerful. And the SONGS they can literally never ever be forgotten. You also hated on the aristocats and that is not okay. That movie is not forgettable. That was top tier for then. It was the only movie I wanted to watch decently often (other than lion king which I wanted to watch at least one a week) when I was a kid.

@kendallcarroll37354 жыл бұрын
I agree with you on many accounts, except for your feelings on nita and koda's relationship with kenai. Koda LOST HIS MOTHER AS A CUB, and kenai was responsible for it. He felt horrible about orphaning koda and remained a bear to raise koda as his own brother; nobody chastised him for it, nobody blackmailed him for it, Kenai stayed a bear to raise koda, despite knowing he'll never see his village or his brother again, *so that the cub wouldn't die in the forest.* Enter nita; a first time "love interest" for kenai, who wasn't even HINTED AT in the first movie, waltz into the forest (and damn near IMPALES KODA) to find kenai and burn an amulet because she wants to get married to gaston 2: electric boogaloo. When kenai tells her no, she *imediately* goes on a tangeant saying "We CaN't Go On WiTh OuR lIvEs If We DoN't BuRn It." Note: kenai wasn't having much of a problem with life before nita barged in, the spirits would probably only intervene if kenai or nita would try to get married to other people.... except, kenai wasn't all that interested in marriage, was he? No. He cared about looking out for two people: koda and himself. After kenai continues to tell her to fuck off, nita BLACKMAILS kenai, telling him that, "ThE sPiRiTs WiLl TuRn YoU bAcK iNtO a HuMaN If YoU dOn'T hElP me." Think back: koda had NO OTHER FAMILY before his mother and kenai, and if kenai turned back into a man, koda would be an orphan again. Koda had every right to be worried around nita; the woman practically told him that he would *lose his brother* if they didn't help her. he wasn't worried that nita was "stealing" kenai, he was worried this random broad would make it so that he would be alone. *Again.* nita had no regard for koda until he was in danger during the avalanche, all she cared about was burning the amulet, being a snarky bitch, being an emotional emo, and -being a furry- trying to get to know bear-kenai. I don't care if nita and kenai were childhood friends, i don't care if they persue a relationship, but what i do care about is whether or not disney has the -pixie sacks- balls to break up two of my favorite sibling dynamics since lilo and nani. *Love your videos, and i hope you have a wonderful day👍* (edit: sorry if this is a little ranty)

Kenai and Nita don't even seem to have any chemistry for much of the movie and then, all of sudden, without reason they are in love. I think they tried to repeat Simba and Nala's dynamic (the childhood friends who were separated for many years and when they reunite as adults they realise to love each other), but that was better handled and wasn't even the main focus of the plot

Why? Aside from the whole romance plot, I thought she was a pretty unique character for being an unofficial Disney princess (or technically a sequel character) considering how her story had absolutely nothing to do with falling in love and just wanting to make her father and village proud. If anything, I don’t get why Kenai got so offended of her calling his necklace a trinket. He hasn’t thought or even seen for YEARS and clearly wasn’t interested in girls in the first movie. Positives points of this sequel: - Good animation - Pretty song (I think there's only one in this movie, it's a love song for Kenai and Nita.) - Excellent action (The scene where Nita founds Koda and run on a cliff is really well done, the fight in the village at the end too.) Negatives points: - The characters who were likable in the original are useless or annoying; especially Koda and the mooses. They are even less funny than in the first movie and Koda is soooooo annoying XS Also, Kenai had a horrible attitude with Nita; he was a jerk with her for no good reason. - Pointless side characters like the Shawomen and the two ladies fighting next to Nita, the raccons weren't funny or scary either. A complete waiste of time U-U - A rushed romance between Nita and Kenai. I mean, they played when they were kids; didn't saw each other during years then suddenly they falled in love one day after their reunion? It's not realistic at all, it's rushed and dumb! - Nita marrying a guy she barely knows, yeah that makes sense! We didn't saw her talked to him, fishing with him or doing anything. Her father just said she's gonna married him and that's it! We're supposed to believe that this random man loves her? Nope, won't work X) - Lame humor with the mooses and raccons, thoses characters were useless and not cute; not likable either. This movie is not that terrible but he's not amazing either. Um, the marriage was supposed to be a political marriage between their villages. I’m pretty sure it says Nita was the chief’s daughter. Also, a LOT of Disney couples fall deeply in love upon 3 days of knowing each other. Ariel and Eric and Tiana and Naveen are at least 2 couples that literally got married in just 3 days. Couples like Aladdin and Jasmine and Rapunzel and Flynn showed the characters waiting a few years before getting married, disproving not every Disney couple just races through a relationship like Ariel and Eric do and get married anyway despite not knowing each other for long

When I was a kid, I used to love Brother Bear 2. I’m a sucker for love stories and since this movie is basically about Kenai and Nita falling in love, I was enthusiastic about it. But rewatching it as a teenager I realised that it’s basically one of those sequels that no one asked for, just because the main character didn’t fuck anybody in the previous movie. Not that the main lesson that Kenai had to learn was to respect his totem and be a good big brother to Koda. No, he had to find a bear woman with whom he could make a lot of teddy bears!😒 Kenai’s growth as a character had little to do with finding romantic love, but rather with seeing things from another perspective, letting go of his hatred and learning to respect all natural creatures. I’m 100% sure that if Koda had been replaced by a grown ass she-bear, things would’ve gone way differently. Movies like this one (The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2 is a great example) are often used as means to “conclude” the character arc, because the writers think that if the protagonist doesn’t get laid, then the arc is incomplete, something’s missing and needs to be fixed. Brother Bear was a great movie about brotherly love, tolerance and respect. All things that had zero in common with finding a partner.

@kristinahuchison25113 ай бұрын
@@ronbinscatsco5249Well, Sarabi wasn’t in the Lion King 2 for the same reason. Her voice actress unfortunately died shortly after the first movie came out, so Disney chose not to recast Sarabi’s character out of respect for her actress. Its a similar problem to how Homer Simpson’s voice did Genie in Return of Jafar, which was a huge why so many people hated the movie. It was an between Robin Williams and Disney for his voice being used for toys and not getting paid for it, but thankfully Disney gave in and he returned for the third movie. But yeah, I don’t get why Eric’s original voice actor didn’t return for the sequel. I don’t know if that’s why Eric hardly appeared in that movie, which is a war crime imo. It heavily focused on Ariel’s broken relationship with her daughter and Eric is massively sidelined after Ariel becomes a mermaid again. So yeah, no. Its a similar issue to Mel Gibson not coming back for Pocahontas 2, John Smith is only in the movie for like 10 minutes. And he became a massive jerk, so that’s probably a big reason why Mel didn’t return.

Good video bro! Honestly I grew up with the first brother bear movie and generally liked it a lot, but the sequel is kind of hard for me to like sometimes. Also I just wanted to mention something, and I know and understand that you (to be fare, I get this too, and kind of like me sometimes) don't very much care about people correcting you about these little things in a movie but I think this'll make some sense. In the part where both Kenai and Nita are playing around when they were kids, it turned out Nita leaves after her father's telling her that it's "time to go." So there was some parental guidence there, but only at the end because it looks like the dad wasn't paying attention in the beginning. Anyways, good video bro and hope you make other videos soon! 😎👍😁😊👌

I only saw the first Brother Bear once or twice years ago but I remember it being okay. I liked the idea of Denahi being the antagonist through a logical misunderstanding and Kenai becoming a bear so he can look after Koda. From what I've heard of the second one, yeah, it sounds like it definitely needed several tweaks before being finished. I've never been a fan of Wanda Sykes; she's an annoying-sounding loud-mouth whose "comedy" revolves around announcing ridiculous things and then compounding onto what she's saying in order to force the joke. Also, the whole "sha-woman" crack was painful. Just because a word has "man" in it, doesn't mean that it's masculine. It's the same thing with "history" and "mandate".
@thomashuffman32375 ай бұрын
As far as Denahi’s absence from this movie is concerned, I’d bring up what happened to Jason Raize, but that would just be beating a dead horse. So, instead, here’s a theory: in the first movie, our narrator was Denahi when he was REALLY old. And to be fair, we don’t exactly know how much time had passed between movies, so, it is possible that Denahi died of old age.

Just because the idiotic general populace doesn’t flock to see something doesn’t mean it wasn’t an amazing movie. The original Brother Bear is a masterpiece.
@Feltzer3424 жыл бұрын
Oh, and while the sequel's not the brightest in the shed, Koda definitely voiced my thoughts when Nita suggested the most ridiculous route just to avoid the river (let's not forget that they were _on a time crunch...)_ just to get to the waterfall. It was real dumb of her to suggest that, considering they'd have to do a lot of walking and climbing just to get there, and in a way, I'm glad they didn't do that just to pad out the movie. Also, she tried playing the "It's My Amulet!" card. How mature; I thought Nita was an adult?
@kristinahuchison25117 ай бұрын
To be fair, Nita had PTSD from something that happened to her as a child. It does happen to a lot of people. Yeah it was dumb for her to insist they take a much longer route when she knows they’re short on time, but I understand why she was so scared to cross the river at first. Rivers can be pretty scary to cross, considering she doesn’t have a canoe or anything, and she doesn’t know if Kenai knows how to swim as a bear either, let alone let a 130 lb woman ride him. Also the river would be freezing

Although my opinion is very different on the original film (I love that film even though it has its low points), I completely agree on what you say about this sequel. (WARNING: This will be very long) The only scene that I like but confuses me the most is the flashback scene, apart from what you said in this part, I am disturbed by the fact that Kenai is completely alone I mean, where are his brothers in that part? And I am also disturbed by the fact that he is very far from his village. How do I confirm this? If you calculate the distance through the days; the Salmon Run, Nita's village and the waterfall are one day away (since if we remove the mooses, the raccoons and the escape of Koda and confirm the return of Nita to her village, is a day away), but in the original film Kenai and Koda took days and even weeks to get to the Salmon Run, which begs the question from the flashback scene: How the f$#k did Kenai get away from his village all alone? It looks like the creators of this movie wanted Kenai as the only child. Another point that confuses me (although I know it's from Disney) is that in the avalanche scene when the support where they were breaks, it falls at a great speed and here it makes me ask: How did Nita not break her legs or shocked? One of the reasons I hate from this sequel it's the dubbing (I'm from Mexico so I watched this movie dubbed), despite having the same Koda and Tug voices from the original, the voices of the mooses are not the same as the original, and although it hurted me that Joaquin Phoenix did not return to voice Kenai, it gave me intense anger to see that in the dubbing the voice of the original also didn't return, being replaced by another actor who despite having experience in that medium, he doesn't have his voice as Kenai at all.
@chelsearunyan Жыл бұрын
Your so right none of that make any sense at all. Even though I too loved the first film. But hated the sequel I just don't get why did Kenai never mention about to Koda. I mean I get why he never did in the first film. Still the sequel had to take either a few months or maybe a year or so. And yet it's Kenai clear had never brought her up once. Than there Nina I really don't like her. I seems like she was hoping Kenai was going to give up life as a bear and go back to his human life. And the part where Nina and Koda were talking about their moms. Kenai seemed upset or disappointed. It's really hard to tell he was thinking how it was his fault Koda is now without a mom. Or maybe it's because Kenai realized he doesn't remember his. It could be possible his parents dead when he was very young. Than there's voice for Kenai is just plan awful😖Patrick Dempsey who replaced Joaquin Phoenix in the sequel. Sounded awful😖 His voice was too soft you can't hear any Kenai emotions. Joaquin Phoenix did just that. He give Kenai different emotions. You didn't need to know what Kenai was feeling you can't take tell by his voice. Joaquin Phoenix give us that in the first film.

It’s definitely not the best, not even in the post renaissance era. I really enjoy the movie and find it very underrated, but I agree with several people saying there’s a massive tonal whiplash when Kenai becomes a bear. All the animals all of a sudden become very annoying or dumb, especially Ruk and Tuff. I know they’re supposed to have Canadian humor, but they’re a bit annoying at parts it’s supposed to be serious. Like when Koda learns Kenai killed his mother, he overhears the moose arguing and learning about forgiveness. I get what the scene was trying to convey, but it comes after a very serious and heartbreaking moment in the movie, making it cringey. Its a similar problem to the annoying gargoyles’ song A Guy Like You from the Hunchback of Notre Dame. It comes right after Frollo has basically set Paris on fire and causing absolute chaos and destruction trying to smoke out Esmerelda (all because he can’t keep his pickle in his pants) and what do the gargoyles do? They sing a very stupid and annoying song about Quasi being in love with Esmerelda and how crazy she’d be to not love a guy like him, that looks aren’t everything. And it makes it so much worse when Esmerelda begs him to hide Phoebus in the bell tower, and unfortunately Quasi gets his heart shattered when Esmerelda kisses Phoebus.

I tottaly dissagree about the first movie. It's very good in my opinion. Characters are detailed and solid. Their actions are very understandable. And this movie is tottaly not forgettable, it hits hard like really - This guy killed mother of a little boy. And the boy forgived. It stays in mind for years. Is THAT BLEND? Wtf man. It's bloody and thrilling. At first the guy is dumb and childlish. He run's away from resposability, becouse he's guilty. His brother dies becouse of his dumb actions. He also don't want to admit it, so he kills innocent bear, who at first isn't even hostile. When he turns into a bear, his own BROTHER tries to KILL HIM. It's a lot for a disney movie, isn't it? It's deep, not blend. It teaches important life lessons, about forgiveness, love, manhood and of course - brotherhood. Shows how to deal with our mistakes. We have to embrace it and face it. Also characters are well designed, they are easy to remember, you can't denay. Movie is very pretty. It has this awesome climate of "long time ago". Just awesome. And most importantly - CODA ISN'T ANNOYING! HEE'S CUUUTEEE!!!
