TLDR: This movie is underappreciated and more people should show their kids this for these reasons. This movie was a formative experience for me and probably a MASSIVE part of why I 1: made my own family by choice and honestly have more love for them than my blood relatives. 2: do my best to practice and teach consideration of others points of view (not enabling or encouraging harmful/toxic views. Big difference) 3: have a deeper than average respect for nature, and find peace and appreciation for it. Obviously there were other factors for all these traits, but this movie was definitely a contributor.

Recently watched this for the first time in many years (along with Dinosaur in the same day), and I found myself loving the film so much. I love that there isn't a true villain in the film. Denahi doesn't count, because he is only believing that Kenai in bear form killed Kenai himself (while also believing it's the bear that Sitka sacrificed himself to try and take down), and he is only wanting to avenge his brothers. You also get to know and understand the characters, while also seeing how Kenai is annoyed by Koda at first, but comes to see him as a little brother. The ending of the film is truly beautiful, showing forgiveness and acceptance, while also showing true love through Kenai nearly allowing his own brother to kill him so he can save Koda. The ending caught me off-guard because I didn't remember it, and as I watched it, the beauty of the animation, the voice-acting, and the amazing music by Mark Mancina, Phil Collins, and the Bulgarian Women's Choir really hit me, causing me to cry my eyes out more than many films have. It really let me understand that I would allow love to make me do anything for those I love, too. I saw one site complained that Collins' songs, and this song even, were generic and that they took away from the Inuit culture in the film, but I found that they were able to convey so much, and if that took away from the culture, then I guess "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" took away from the culture in The Lion King. I love this film and its soundtrack, and I can't wait to show it to my nieces and nephews the next time they come.
