Papered Chef hello. I’m looking at getting a DX125. I’m a Stampin' Up hobby demonstrator, and I make lots of cards to give sets to friends as Christmas/Birthday. I also donate sets of cards to organizations for their silent auctions. I don’t do classes - I did that years ago and found I don’t like the teaching aspect (and I come from a family of teachers - go figure). I’m just getting in to making junk journals. I think a scan-n-cut will be great to have. I’ll probably order the machine at the end of this week. I’ll use the link you've provided in your video comments. Once I get my machine, I’ll sign up for your classes and one of your membership groups. I love your teaching method. By following your videos, I’m sure I’ll get a lot of use from the scan-n- cut.

Kimberley, thank you for your tutorials - I always enjoy watching and learning from you. I'd like to just warn people about using painter's tape - be careful, as I had a small piece get caught in my CM350 and my handyman hubby had to take my machine completely apart to get it out. I had been reusing it again and again. Lesson learned! I'll use new tape and larger pieces in the future. It's only happened once, thank goodness! xo
@PaperedChef4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and for your comment Ngaire. I used to get Washi tape stuck up in my machine all of the time which is why I go with Painter's tape. It sticks so much better that the mat itself without ruining the paper. I do hear ya! Been there, done that. If that happens, you can usually get it out when you are cleaning the scanning plate. That is how I get it out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKC5iGeuYpVnhNU

I love your little projects, so cute. At 11:38 in your video you said that your SDX was not working right now, it's wore out. What happened? I am on the verge of getting one but now I am wondering if it will give me problems and if so, how do I correct them? How much use will it take before it wares out? I like the little Easter critters. They would work nicely on cards for children (birthday, get well ). Thanks for all your videos. I am learning a lot.
@PaperedChef4 жыл бұрын
Helen, my SDX machine went "On Strike" from being used so much. I was developing a course. The mats wouldn't load, the alignment was way off and I had a lot of issues. As soon as I gave it a break and then used the Scanning/Cutting Position Adjustment a few times, it worked. I am glad it is cutting beautifully now. My CM350 is better in terms of consistency.

I’ve looked at several cutting machines and the Cut and scan looks like the best choice because I don’t need a computer to use it, I just want something simple to cut out stamped images so I don’t have to use a die and so I can cut several at one time. Which model would work for me?
@PaperedChef4 жыл бұрын
Christine, you came to a great conclusion. In my opinion, I still like the CM350 better for cutting stamped images but the SDX has so many more features. I love my CM350 or ScanNCut2 because of its consitency and reliability over the years. If you are going to be cutting fabric, vinyl and all kinds of other materials, then you are better off with the SDX125 because of the Autoblade. You don't have to set the blade depth with the SDX models, they are not as noisy and you have so many features including a lot more editing that can be done right from the machine. Please use my links to purchase one even if you don't get the exact one in my link. The links only work for a certain about of time so if you put something in your Wish List and go back, my link is no longer active so please click on it again before you purchase something. It helps support my channel. Brother ScanNCut SDX125E: amzn.to/2LEDLOV Brother ScanNCut SDX125: amzn.to/2VukC9d ScanNCut2 CM350E: amzn.to/3aPELdh

Hi there. First time using my Scan n Cut machine that came to me second hand from my MIL. I have followed your tutorial and managed to get the cows to cut out YIPPPEEE BUT please can you help me with really detailed images. I have an old PSX tulip stamp and a Penny Black hedgehog image of them sitting on a picnic mat. The machine scanned the images ok but when it came to previewing them before they cut it just showed the darker sections of the images. Where am I going wrong please. Thanks so much Kim (New Zealand)
@PaperedChef4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I just saw this. I think if you have certain sections, you will need to use my pencil trick. Just enclose the outer edges with a pencil. The ScanNCut need a well defined edge to scan and cut. Try that and also move your images to different parts of the mat. Those tips should help.

I am looking for your video on making a standard(A4) card base. I saw a video a couple of weeks ago but not can not locate it. Could you help me? Thank You Dee
@PaperedChef4 жыл бұрын
Dee, i don’t recommend using a ScanNCut for making card bases because the scoring technique makes perforated lines and this actually can rip your card. I show how to make mats and layers a lot. To make two cards, take an 8.5 by 11” sheet of card stock. Cut it in half. Fold each part with the Simply Scored or a score board. Fold the creases with a bone folder.

Hi Kim, I cut these little darlings out and it went fine except for the bunny, after cutting him out blade went to his whiskers & started cutting them. I did set an outline distance for the cuts so am puzzled as to why it wanted to cut out the whiskers. Can you tell me? I’ve had same problem with cutting flowers.
@PaperedChef4 жыл бұрын
Carolyn, you will need to use my pencil ✏️ trick to enclose the bunny. There is a little gap in his head. That is why the whiskers got selected. I’m glad your other cuties came out. Don’t you just love ❤️ this stamp set?
@carolynmanning764 жыл бұрын
Papered Chef thanks Kim, I was thinking I might have to use the pencil to attach whiskers together. Didn’t notice the little gap on his head. We made that card at Club today and I brought the littles cuties home to cut with my Scancut rather than fussy cut, didn’t pay all that money to let it sit there & gather dust, lol. I just ordered that set so will give it another try when it arrives. Thanks for getting back to me. Enjoy watching you show us all these things . Have a great day.

** I have a question. I'm a member of a particular group that sends me printed out materials. I then use to cut out these images with my Scan & Cut. The printed materials often have very light pastel colored images0. Is there any way that I can cut the images out with my Scan & Cut without outlining them in pencil? I didn't know if I could change a setting in order for the machine to see these light colored images. Thank you for any information that you can provide!!
@PaperedChef4 жыл бұрын
Jennifer, you can try color recognition mode and then increase the number of colors sampled. However, if you don't have good contrast, the settings will not help you. I have heard of other drawing over a sheet of acetate and then scanning that in. That seems like more work to me than just erasing the lines. There is also a contrast setting but I haven't got it to work unless I start out with a crisp image. Thanks for watching.
