This kid understands groove, timing and space @this age. He he follows this path could easily be a Top 5 drummer of all time. He already has Steve Smith elements in him.

Yup. That was great. He changed it up and did not just mimic what Mark did on the record. Nicely done sir. Hats off!!!

despite not being note for note i find this cover captures mark's feel more so than a lot of the more floaty jazz guys. mark was very tight and precise

Rockin' classic Gino is on another level and Dom Mac didn't miss a beat, kept the pocket clean and put a sweet spin on it _ Freakin' great to see how strong Vanelli holds up and translates across the generations _ Real special stuff

Talented for sure. Not sure why kids these days seem to try to see how many beats they can put in a fill. Not much musicality in my opinion. I’m old school. Gadd, Purdie, Vega and Porcaro would be great examples of tremendous musicality. Drummers with chops are a dime a dozen. He’s still young and has a lot to learn.

As a technical matter, I'm curious as to how you are miked. I don't see any mikes or cables on the drums, no overhead mikes for the cymbals, so how did you mike the room for this recording? The sound is pretty darned good for none of the typical mike setups, so how did you set it up? 🙂
@dominicmcnabbdrums4 ай бұрын
Hey🙂🙂 it's the Yamaha ead10
@kennethbobu39894 ай бұрын
@@dominicmcnabbdrums Hey! Thanks, Man! I hadn't heard of that device, but did some research and it's pretty cool. Do you use it with the snare mike, or just with the EAD10? Did you make your own custom sound pack for this recording, or are you using one of the stock ones already built in. It's quite remarkable just how much the EAD10 adds to the sense of post production bigness of your kit. Your playing is solid and I like the fact that you didn't stick purely to the original piece but added in some of your own flairs. Keep up the good work and thanks very much for the tip! All the very best of luck as you progress; you're well on your way to becoming a pro!
